Has anyone got it? Is it worth the money?

I love mine but it definitely depends on what you pay for it!! I got mine on a contract which is expensive but I was upgrading all of the family phones at the tome and saved a fortune on the others (8+) so my monthly spend has not gone up.

I wouldn't buy one outright though!

CremeBrulee · 22/02/2018 20:37

It's a good oh me, screen quality is excellent but it depends what you want from a phone and whether the cost is worth it to you.

TheIcon · 22/02/2018 20:41

I spent a few years working in telecoms. I went in as an iPhone addict and came out as someone who wouldn't have one. I still have friends who work in phone shops and I don't know anyone in a phone shop who has an iPhone.

The question I'd ask you is are you the sort of person who wants to pay over the odds for features that were released to android users a couple of years ago but you can tell people you have an iPhone X? If so, get one.

italiancortado · 22/02/2018 20:42

I honestly thought going from an iPhone 7 to an X would be a bit 'meh' in the way that a 6 to a 7 was very samey, but I actually LOVE the X and would recommend it to anyone!

AgnesBrownsCat · 22/02/2018 20:42

I think it’s a ridiculous amount of money for a phone . Wouldn’t you rather be paying less overall a month Harry ? Is it really worth it?

italiancortado · 22/02/2018 20:43

Oh and I but iPhones because I like them, not so I can tell people I have an iPhone Confused surely that mentality stops when you leave school

PaperdollCartoon · 22/02/2018 20:45

For me it came down to the home button and battery life, I decided I needed more life and a home button and went for the 8 Plus instead and I’m very happy. How do you feel about home buttons and battery life?

newnameforwednesday · 22/02/2018 20:47

I got used to having no home button very quickly, and my battery life is better than my old 7+. The camera is excellent, especially the selfie portrait mode.

getoffMNandgotobed · 22/02/2018 20:50

I'm typing on one right now and yeah it's good, but not worth the €500+ i paid for it. I am a big Apple fan and I got it on a whim, but now not sure. Even the apple CEO has only got an iPhone 8!

Facial ID is cool but useless if your phone is sat on the table and you still get asked to type in your password. At least the 6s recognised my fingerprint, it was much faster!

CremeBrulee · 22/02/2018 20:51

Yep I was worried bout lack of home button but I'm totally used to it now and I s only had mine a couple of weeks. Battery life is so much better than my old 6+, camera is excellent too.

overskyandshire · 22/02/2018 20:51

Yes, obviously, thelcon, that’s what I want Hmm

I’m due an upgrade. Have had iPhones since 2007. Have tried android but don’t get on with it. Plus music, videos etc.

Writersblock2 · 22/02/2018 20:52

Love it! Tried Android and couldn’t stand it. Screen on the X is amazing!

TheIcon · 22/02/2018 20:52

Sadly it doesn't stop at school. I'm going back four or five years, but people would ring their friends to tell them they had an iPhone. That's also why the cases have a cut out to show the Apple logo.

Each to their own, but I don't get why they're so popular when there's nothing innovative about them at all. But I'm technogeek and I like the newest, techiest stuff so feel free to ignore me.

Eifla · 22/02/2018 20:55

I have one as my work phone. There’s nothing I do on it that I didn’t do on my old iPhone 6, although the camera is very good. I’d never have it if I was paying the contract!

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 22/02/2018 20:57

Any recommendations TheIcon?

Justgivemesomepeace · 22/02/2018 20:58

Absolutely not worth the money. Stupidly overpriced with no special features that aren't on other phones for less money. If your adamant you want an iPhone go with a 7 or 8.

overskyandshire · 22/02/2018 20:58

Well, I’m not a techno geek Grin but I find the iPhone very fast and easy to use compared to an android I used once when my phone was being fixed.

So that is what I’m asking I suppose: what does the X have that makes it special? Otherwise I will upgrade to an 8.

OP posts:
Justgivemesomepeace · 22/02/2018 21:01

The screen on the x is a Samsung amoled screen. You dont have to to pay that kind of money for that screen. I'm with Thelcon. I work in the indusrty and none of us would get an iPhone x. If I was getting a new phone I would look at the OnePlus5T.

Justgivemesomepeace · 22/02/2018 21:04

Only thing on the x really is the edge to edge screen and no hard home button. Unless you're interested in technical camera differences that make no difference and I can't remember because they are so irrelevant, and the moving emoji's on texts. Go for an 8.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/02/2018 21:04

I'm picking up my 8+ tomorrow. I don't like the look of the X and don't want to pay £200 extra for the facial recognition. The prices have got ridiculous.

overskyandshire · 22/02/2018 21:06

Thanks, I’ll go for the 8 Smile Quite pleased this is the answer coz it’s cheaper Grin

OP posts:
uncoolnn · 22/02/2018 21:08

I have the iPhone 8. Didn't upgrade to the X as there weren't enough extra features to make up for the huge leap in price. I love my iPhone, have had androids in the past and just don't get on with them, I do not have an iPhone just to tell people I've got an iPhone Hmm

Nishky · 22/02/2018 21:09

Another one who tried Android and hated it. Can those who work in the industry explain why Android was so bloody complicated

overskyandshire · 22/02/2018 21:10

That post really annoyed me too.

OP posts:
PerfectlyPosed · 22/02/2018 21:10

I have an iPhone X but wish I hadn't spent the extra money when an 8 or 8 plus would have done. However, I do love the battery life. Even on a day when I am using my phone a lot, I have over 50% battery left by the end of the day. I don't need to charge it every night but I generally do just out of habit. I also like the facial recognition. It makes logging into apps a lot quicker and I found the thumb print thing didn't always work on my old iPhone.
