Has anyone got it? Is it worth the money?

Androids - great for a week or two then get slower and slower. And slower. I guess people in the industry just get a different one, regularly.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 23/02/2018 17:36

I have an X and really like it. I’ve never used an android, but my parents have them and it seems to be more buggy than iOS to me. I’m not an expert phone seller and I don’t work in tech though so basically my opinion doesn’t count Wink

Fwiw I love the X, the facial recognition is brilliant. I didn’t realise how much I’d like it before I’d got it. The camera is excellent and battery life really good. Im glad I went for it rather than the 8.

bridgetoc · 23/02/2018 17:53

Lets be honest........ I've had bot Samsung and Apple phones. Amongst others.... I must say though that some Apple customers are a bit weird. They support their phone manufacturer like others support a football team. They get all upset if people say something negative about their device. Grin

Strange.......

I thought about the X...... I decided against it because of the independent reviews saying that there are better phones out there for less money. Simple.......

Linning · 23/02/2018 18:40

I have used both Iphones and android and personally hate Iphones.

I currently own a brand that's not famous (spanish brand) and it's the best phone I have ever owned, it takes much better pictures than my Iphones, I have got facial identification and pretty much everything else the Iphones seem to have for more than half the price and I absolutely love it.

I personally fail to see what a phone (regardless of whether it's an Iphone or an Android) could have that would justify paying over a 1000 for it.

I think your choice as to be about what type of feature you are looking for in your phone. I personally don't enjoy facial recognition much as it is really dependent on the lighting around you which seriously can be pain so I don't bother with it most of the time.

italiancortado · 23/02/2018 18:48

I think if you RTFT you will see android users doing exactly this. While calling iPhone users both stupid and sad.

It's interesting that on a thread where OP has asked about a specific iPhone model, that the android users have jumped on to tell everyone how shit Apple is.

As an iPhone user the only thing I have done on here is defend my choice. Not because I think iOS is better than android, but because it is MY choice.

But yeah, we all support Apple like a football team Hmm

bridgetoc · 23/02/2018 19:03

@Italiancortado.......... Your a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Grin

italiancortado · 23/02/2018 19:16

I'm not sure I am.

I defend my right to choose without being called stupid or a saddo. I'm not sure why you think that means I'm championing Apple Confused

YetAnotherUser · 23/02/2018 19:30

I'm a long term android user... The simple number one reason I've always used android is value for money. I've never owned an apple device, so can't comment on all the "ease of use" considerations, but I can't say android is particularly complicated.

I suspect android meets my needs better than iOS though, as I'm rather a technophile.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 23/02/2018 19:44

@Linning the iPhone’s facial recognition works well in all lighting, including when I pick it up in the dark.

Nishky · 23/02/2018 22:31

Exactly what Italiancortado said -it’s the Android users on this thread who are coming across as distinctly odd, the iPhone users are just a little bemused but it all Grin

PiffIeandWiffIe · 24/02/2018 20:22

Android is the OS, there a loads of different manufacturers of Android phones (Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, Oneplus, Wileyfox etc.)

The initial OP was about 1 Apple phone in particular that doesn't do anything that a dozen other phones by other manufacturers do(and have done for some time) for nearly half the price.

So on that basis, no - it's not worth the money.....

PiffIeandWiffIe · 24/02/2018 20:25

@italiancortado

Again. If you think people are 'saddos' for buying themselves an iPhone then your grasp of reality isn't right.

And again, I think they're saddos for standing in a queue for a day to buy a phone.

Your powers of comprehension aren't particularly good are they dear?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 24/02/2018 20:44

I have an iPhone 7 and I'm happy with it - I want something that works out of the box, I don't want to customise it, it just needs to work!

I had a Samsung 18 months ago and the stupid thing went back as I got fed up with finding it was hot when I got it out of my bag. I wouldn't rule out another Android one day but I'd never have another Samsung.

italiancortado · 24/02/2018 22:28

And again, I think they're saddos for standing in a queue for a day to buy a phone.

I take it you have never stood in a queue in your life? Or are you ok to queue for other things? People are just sad when it's a phone?

Your powers of comprehension aren't particularly good are they dear?

Awww bless you. A wee passive aggressive!

overskyandshire · 24/02/2018 22:31

Yes, it’s so sad when I click ‘buy’ on the O2 website Hmm

Anyway, speaking of heat, my current iPhone (6s) drains battery when it’s really cold, does anyone know why?

FranticallyPeaceful · 24/02/2018 22:34

Upgraded from a 7 Plus to an X and honestly shouldn’t have bothered

KenDoddsDadsDog · 24/02/2018 22:50

getoffMNandgotobed The CEO OF Apple only has an iPhone 8. Source ?

hmcAsWas · 26/02/2018 14:59

Its probably about to die oversky. How long have you had it?

GladAllOver · 26/02/2018 15:27

I see most of the new phones when they come out. The X is certainly better than the previous iPhones now it has the Samsung screen. Sitting beside my Samsung S8+ it is just as good, but I don't think it's worth the extra £150.
The face recognition on the X is good, but the S8 has both fingerprint and iris recognition so you can use either or both.

What I don't understand though is why people pay such huge monthly contracts. It's far better to buy the phone outright, unlocked, even if you have to take out a lone. Then you can get a monthly data contract that you can change at any time, and change network if you are not happy with the service.

GladAllOver · 26/02/2018 15:28

lone... loan!

BusterTheBulldog · 26/02/2018 15:36

I’ve got an x and I love it! I was between that and a 8plus but really glad I went for the x now as it’s fab. The battery life is really good too-last well over 24hours of good use. (I know that’s nothing compared to the Nokia days Wink)

I also started a thread on here and got really helpful replies- you’ve clearly been unlucky!

I also did loads of working out the best deal over the 2 years. I ended up on new contract at £47 per month which was cheaper than previously paid. Went through car phone warehouse and traded in 6s, 5s and 2 4s that were kept for ‘just in case’.

The only thing that has been a bit of a ball ache is new adapters, for things like headphone, aux cable etc. You get a converter with it (which it seems I’ve already lost!) and obviously the right headphones.

Would defo recommend!

BusterTheBulldog · 26/02/2018 15:45

Ps- I have a samsung galaxy for work and hate it. Horses for courses I guess!

GladAllOver · 26/02/2018 15:53

You have my sympathy, Buster. It must be awful to have to use two incompatible phones.

Damnthatonestaken · 23/03/2018 11:54

Totally weird some of the things said on here about android, besides which, not all androids are alike. Ive had 3 and each lasted 4 years ish and were still snappy. If people say they get slower they must not be using them properly. They are very simple to work out as well, well no more difficult than iphone, which ive used extensively for work. Weird comments imho
