To ask about the iPhone x

Has anyone got it? Is it worth the money?

Carphone’s ‘best’ current iPhone X deal appears to be £10 up front +£71 per month. That’s £1,714 over the two year contract.

Some people really do have way more money than sense.

overskyandshire · 22/02/2018 21:17

Plenty of both, cheers.

I should say that I was given money for Christmas and birthday especially to buy myself a new phone. I have stuck to my £17 per month sim-only contract. I'd never pay £71 per month for a phone contract.

overskyandshire · 22/02/2018 21:23

You don’t have to justify what you spent your money on, Perfectly

Some people are just bloody rude.

HollywoodMontrose · 22/02/2018 21:25

I got mine as a relatively cheap deal since I threatened to switch providers.

The face recognition means it automatically logs in to some sites, I can send animated emojis (if I wanted, which I don't) and it has a longer battery life.

Not worth the extra money, not a bit.

italiancortado · 22/02/2018 21:31

Some people really do have way more money than sense.

There is no need for comments like this.

Some people spend more on certain things. So what? It doesn't mean people have no sense. It means they made a different choice to you. That is all.

blaaake · 22/02/2018 21:35

Confused people can spend money on whatever they like. Why do some people think that just because they wouldn't spend money on something, anyone who does has no sense. The mind boggles.

Anyway OP I have the iPhone X as a personal phone and an 8 plus for work, definitely prefer the X as it's far less clunky but still has the big screen, and actually having no home button is better than the fake one on the 8 as I can unlock my X with touchscreen gloves! Unlike the 8...

BonnieF · 22/02/2018 21:40

Oh dear.

I appear to have hit a nerve....

overskyandshire · 22/02/2018 21:43

If thinking you are being a rude cunt means you’ve touched a nerve then yes.

Thanks for replies. Am due an upgrade and I just wondered what was special about the X. I do use my phone a lot.

Gartenzwerg · 22/02/2018 21:45

The Face ID makes using Apple Pay a lot easier, especially at station ticket barriers when you’re under pressure ! I use Apple Pay all the time now.

BonnieF · 22/02/2018 21:47
Wink
Charley50 · 22/02/2018 22:27

Calm down dears Grin

Nishky · 22/02/2018 22:32

some people have more money than sense

Or do you just mean more money than you which pisses you off? Wink

Anyway, where are the people in the industry to answer my question about android

Katinkka · 22/02/2018 22:41

I got an 8. The x is too expensive for what it is. You couldn’t pay me to use android.

Lentilbaby · 22/02/2018 22:47

Bloody hell.... how does a thread about mobile phones turn into an argument?!
Anyway OP, I clearly have more money than sense but my simple mind loves my iPhone X Wink

Threeminis · 22/02/2018 23:04

I don't even have a job! (So maybe, no money, no sense)

I love my X though Grin

Justgivemesomepeace · 23/02/2018 06:36

I've gone off the thread because I can't believe how arsy people have got. My answer to 'why is android so bloody complicated' is it's not. It's simple. If you prefer I phones fair enough. Why ' in the industry' is italics I don't know.

CSIFemale · 23/02/2018 06:50

I have a work-supplied X and it's fine. Certainly not worth upgrading from

Nishky · 23/02/2018 07:06

Why are people so rude because you criticise their choice of phone Grin

I have a brain too. I have manners and respect for people so I certainly have attributes you clearly lack.

You haven’t really answered my question but thanks for trying.

Nishky · 23/02/2018 07:08

...and just in case you get an iPhone in future - to get all those options on a missed call on iOS you press the little ‘i’ next to the listing of the missed call.

overskyandshire · 23/02/2018 07:11

God knows, Nishky Confused Grin

I don’t want to call most of my missed calls back

I don’t want to talk to people!

Worieddd · 23/02/2018 07:16

Tried Samsung one weekend hated it. Far too fussy for me

Love my iPhone X. It’s very quick, brilliant screen, takes excellent pics etc

Yea it is expensive but I bought it for £799 outright. There are offers out there if you look he’s enough

PassiveAggressivePamela · 23/02/2018 07:20

I’m following this thread with interest because I’m due an upgrade. I’ve had my iPhone 6 for almost 2 years and I’m absolutely staggered at the prices - since I got it there’s been the 7, 8 and X released and they’re ALL still very expensive with my current provider (EE), even the 7, which was released 18-odd months ago! The X is so far out of my price range although it looks nice. I’m looking at moving to Sky Mobile if EE can’t tempt me to stay.

Nishky · 23/02/2018 07:20

Me neither! That’s why I press on the little ‘i’ and choose to message or WhatsApp them. Which is all available to me after pressing that button.....

Flomper · 23/02/2018 07:22

Also work in IT, also have Android and would never get an iphone now (stopped at a 3S). As others have said, Android = flexibility and customisation - you can tailor it to fit your needs exactly. But its not immediately obvious how to do this out of the box maybe. Also, they are much better value for money if you measure this in terms of features and power for pounds paid. Apple phones are uniform and everything works well, in one way, and one way only, straight out of the box. But you are paying more for simplicity and less customisability, which I could never do. But I can see the attraction of if you just want a phone that is easy to pick up and use and are only using it as a phone, camera and for a bit of browsing.

Its horses for courses, like with all technology. I would say though that you are kidding yourself if you think most people arent buying iPhone 8s as status symbols. Thats why in a given IT office, all the developers and techs have Android phones (and phone shops as soneone else said), and all the sales guys and managers have iPhones.
