Which theories, dismissed by many as conspiracy theories, do you regard as the truth?

That must have been incredibly traumatising for him Vanillaradio I can't even imagine what it must have been like to be there.

Whilst I believe places hit the tower I don't believe they were commercial airliners. I thought that from the footage the day it happened. The footage is pretty clear and those planes are grey.

HeartofSass The towers WERE designed to withstand being hit by a commercial airline. In fact they were designed to withstand multiple hits.

chirpy, that group contains a few (deluded) structural engineers along with a whole load of people who don't have a clue about how buildings work. On the other side are tens of thousands of structural engineers who think they are fools and that the incredibly detailed and open explanations for the collapses make the most sense.

The reason people went to the moon wasn't anything to do with researching the moon.

It was a massive willy-waving exercise between the US and Russia. Basically, if you could build a rocket and get it to the moon, it also meant you were able to build massive fuck off nukes that would destroy the planet. Sending cosmonauts and astronauts into space were the most passive-agressive acts ever. And the moon is boring. It's just rock. There's not much to study.

Since Trump became president I am more and more inclined to think that the media and the powerful, political elite are just trolling us all.

EllieMe · 18/02/2018 16:40

Who'd have thought there were so many stupid people on MN?

Which conspiracy theories do you believe?
DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 18/02/2018 16:40

Dwangela I watched that very odd docu about Paul/Faul McCartney 😂

Caramelchomp · 18/02/2018 16:40

Harry is the image of Hewitt. If he's not his dad then it's definitely a huge coincidence.

123MothergotafleA · 18/02/2018 16:40

John Paul 1 was poisoned according to my sources!!!
The Vatican is no stranger to cloak and dagger stuff. Wasn't there a man hanged under Blackfriars Bridge in London, some banker, ?Mr. Calvi I think?

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 18/02/2018 16:41

Ellie so you just believe every single thing spoonfed to you by the media?

123MothergotafleA · 18/02/2018 16:41

Mr Calvi was a Vatican banker who, presumably knew too much.

" it's like slicing the top off an egg. Too heavy, it was always going to fall down."
Surely that's nothing like slicing the top off an egg!

GreenSeededGrape · 18/02/2018 16:43

Marking for a proper read later Smile

rothbury · 18/02/2018 16:43

I honestly don't believe in the moon landings.

EllieMe · 18/02/2018 16:44

Ellie so you just believe every single thing spoonfed to you by the media?

Of course not, especially not stupid conspiracy theories.

I think that's the difficulty really...how is someone who isn't trained in engineering supposed to know who is providing the most evidence based suggestion (without actually studying it)? And who is to say that one engineer is deluded because they happen to believe the evidence points to another conclusion?

However, the psychology behind believing conspiracy theories or not is really interesting....

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2018 16:44

I don't believe in most of these but I do think there's a hell of a lot more to come on the sex abuse scandals. I think what we've seen wasn't the floodgates opening, just a trickle.

FairiesVsPixies · 18/02/2018 16:44

Harry is the image of Hewitt
Not anymore, as he gets older he looks more like Charles

lostincumbria · 18/02/2018 16:44

The insanity is strong with this thread.

ToffeeUp · 18/02/2018 16:45

None

The Sandy Hook one is truly horrifying and anyone believing it should be disgusted with themselves, those poor poor families SadAngry

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2018 16:45

Yes Harry looks more like Charles with every passing year. Happens to us all.

isthismummy · 18/02/2018 16:45

BusterGonad It goes right to the heart of the British monarchy. Look up the Kamloops Residential School in British Columbia.

I can understand people being sceptical about the moon landings. After all,it's been said that the amount of computer power that they had available back then was equivalent to what we have today on the average smart phone. But.... I can't help thinking that if it was all a stunt, surely someone involved would have spilt the beans by now? Just think about how many people must have been involved in the whole operation. It must run into the hundreds. After nearly 50 years (wow, was it really that long ago?!) someone would have blown it? And there HAS been further manned expeditions to the moon since. A total of 12 men have actually walked on the moon.

QwackerMcQwackface · 18/02/2018 16:45

I've studied and read a lot over the years (part of my FE) about JFK and I find it staggering that anybody actually believes Lee Harvey Oswald shot him.

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2018 16:46

Look ing like our parents I mean, not specifically Prince Charles!

Ifailed · 18/02/2018 16:46

I was working in London on September 2001 in a building with many people from the US, including a young women whose sister worked in the South Tower, the 2nd one hit. The idea that someone could be faking the texts she was receiving is not just stupid, it's hurtful.

Her sister told her about the first plane, and then the second that hit the building she was in.

That people are denying the events to suit their pathetic little conspiracy theory so they can big themselves up on the Internet and pretend they are so superior to those who not only lost family and loved ones, but also witnessed what happened, beggars believe.
