Which theories, dismissed by many as conspiracy theories, do you regard as the truth?

You can make very intricate crop circles with a rope and a bit of board. It’s a bit of a niche interest

BalloonSlayer · 20/02/2018 18:39

Having scoffed at time travel earlier in the thread, I do remember reading an article which talked about a bit in the Bible where these massive "angels" are described which have rotating wings and massive shining eyes - the writer hypothesised that these things being described were actually helicopters. When you read it again imagining how a person from a primitive society might describe a helicopter, you could see it too. . .

Sassenach85 · 20/02/2018 18:40

I think there are loads of variations but some of it intrigues me. That the government have been meeting and dealing with extra terrestrials since human civilisation kind of thing. Some even say they genetically modified "humans". It's not all pyramid related. Quite a lot of evidence I believe for communication across the globe before it was "possible". Also the unearthing and discovery of very ancient sites which as far as I know have been dated so far back it re writes what we know as history. Yet it's kept out of main stream media in the most part.

Sassenach85 · 20/02/2018 18:43

Most religious texts can be interpreted from a genuine bystander account kind of point and it's really interesting to shift the angle slightly. To wonder if some of it eye witness accounts.

BalloonSlayer · 20/02/2018 18:45

That bloke with a beard with Jimmy Savile isn't Peter Sutcliffe. It's just a bloke with a beard.

After the Savile atrocities were revealed, the Police did look into whether there was a link between them. Savile did have a flat very near where one of the victims was found. I think the police concluded there was nothing that connected the two.

Sassenach85 · 20/02/2018 18:46

Also, pyramids can be found all over the globe - mostly hidden in plain sight. I'm sure here was a big thing with china denying theirs but it's so very clear to see! I can get a bit lost in it all but at the same time I don't know if I'd say I believe xyz i just like looking at things in a different way. Quite interesting.

gussyfinknottle · 20/02/2018 18:46

Yes, non-Europeans coming up with similar solutions to particular problems can only be alien intervention rather than, say, universal laws of physics that people work out independently of each other to solve practical problems.ConfusedHmm

RiceButt · 20/02/2018 18:46

@KevinTheYuccaPlant

cista- look at letters which have been italicised in the word 'ambling' in the post and then Google just that bit of it and see who comes up as a founder.

This doesn't make sense, the whole word is italalicsed, not certain laters?

Graphista · 20/02/2018 18:48

There's a fair few respected scientists believe time travel is possible if not already happening - albeit uncontrolled. There's some interesting descriptions of things in ancient texts which are modern realities but which wouldn't be around now.

The helicopter is one example. Da Vinci was an incredible man but it's a hell of a leap from what was around at the time to his designs that hundreds of years later become the modern helicopter.

minus 'g'

I remember a lecturer when I was at University (early 90s) saying that there was a theory that the glut of movies/TV programmes about aliens (eg Close Encounters, ET, X Files) over the past few years was because there had been contact with aliens, and the world governments were trying to get people in the right frame of mind to be able to cope with it.

Then came Independence Day Grin so there goes that theory!

KevinTheYuccaPlant · 20/02/2018 18:55

@RiceButt Six of the seven letters are italicised, one is not.

QuantamBaby · 20/02/2018 18:56

Less of a conspiracy theory, more of a well known fact. Prince William is infertile, and Harry is the true father of George and the other ones (whose names I forget)

Ha ha ha - do tell what your definition of 'fact' is?

There's some nasty American stuff on the internet about the Dunblane massacre being staged by actors, fgs.

RiceButt · 20/02/2018 19:04

Ah got it. Had to look again.

The80sweregreat · 20/02/2018 19:05

Some folk are so odd / strange im sure one or two are aliens.
Maybe they know each other by a funny handshake or something? A kind of code? Wouldnt surprise me.

Graphista · 20/02/2018 19:07

Balloonslayer - I must admit men in black far fetched as it is of course, one bit made sense -

Tommy lee-Jones characters comment

" A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.

Pretty apt for the thread too.

TrustNaeFuckerEver · 20/02/2018 19:21

@Balloonslayer

Then why did Frank Bruno claim Savile tricked him into meeting Sutcliffe, along with this picture of their meeting?

Which conspiracy theories do you believe?
TabbyMack · 20/02/2018 19:23

If there are any "respected scientists" around who believe time travel is possible, that's because relativity predicts it...not because of spooky looking ancient texts featuring "modern realities".

Da Vinci was an immensely brilliant & imaginative man...he used his "screw" device (which is quite a simple idea) in a fair few designs. If a time traveller had passed info to him, I would expect him to create something that would actually work, but even if he'd built it, Da Vinci's "helicopter" could never have flown.

Tupac drives the no.25 bus

crunchymint · 20/02/2018 19:26

It is a myth that most people though the earth was flat.

grannytomine · 20/02/2018 19:27

crunchymint you have to admire the power of the old Catholic ladies. How did my granny, in pre internet days, know about that from her village? She didn't even have a phone.

The80sweregreat · 20/02/2018 19:28

Some bus drivers round here are aliens im sure.

grannytomine · 20/02/2018 19:31

crunchymint those links are interesting, I've never thought to google it well I'd forgotten all about it till I was reading this thread. Shocking though.
