When Theresa May was handed the poisoned chalice of being party leader in the summer of 2016 the one or two interviews she gave about Brexit were often rolled out on the radio / political programmes as her saying ' on balance, being in the EU is the right thing' or words to that effect. She had to defend that stance on more than one occasion.
The EU is an club and one that the Tories took us into - to think she is a closet leaver is daft - i know people will say that people lie all the time and you cant trust what they say and all the other arguments, but I do believe that , at the time at least, she was a remainer. Of course, it didnt stop her changing her views once she agreed to become leader - she had to really - otherwise they would never have given her the job. I think it was more a case of ' of we need someone and fast' and she was willing to take it on. I am not a Tory and would never vote for them in a month of sundays, but it my view thats what happened. Plus i think she didnt actually realise how hard it was all going to be either, but i dont have any sympathy for her at all. If it wasnt for the whole Brexit migraine she would probably be gone by now anyway. She is useful to them at the moment, so she is staying.

The80s I agree. Saville was a sickening pervert but also a clever one. He cosied up to people for one of three reasons (it seems to me).

Firstly, to facilitate his depraved acts. By raising so much money for Stoke Mandeville, he pretty much got carte blanche to roam the place, wherever and whenever he wanted. This enabled him to carry out abuse.

Secondly, to get kicks from it. He probably got off on the fact that everyone fawned round him because of his many charitable works and money raised and all the time he had his secret.

Thirdly, as Agatha Christie learned, often the best place to hide wrongdoing is in plain sight.

Incredibly, someone once said to me that Saville didn't just do his charity work to gain access. Their opinion was that he knew what he did was wrong but couldn't help himself and that he raised all those millions and did all the charity work (and many of the causes he helped appear to be without any victims of abuse whatsoever) as "compensation".

Dear God.

I was once told by a very rational lady that there are villages in France where the wives and children of Catholic priests live, fully funded and accepted by the Vatican. Apparently it started as a way to ‘control’ the problem and then after a while they just decided if the priests wanted to marry etc they could, but obviously they don’t want the public to know that, so off they go to a nice house in a pretty village.

Bodicea · 20/02/2018 14:00

Am sure the autopsy followed the usual strict regulations 😉 - just a theory -either that or they wanted to prevent it happening. Not sure the royal family were ready for the future king of England’s half brother to be Muslim at the time.

W0rriedMum · 20/02/2018 14:01

@HelgasFlowers - I don't believe that in France but in Africa, there were apparently priests' "wives" and children in various remote communities.

Bring on the right for Catholic priests to marry, I say.

crunchymint · 20/02/2018 14:03

No if there was a village like that in France, it would have been exposed by investigative journalists. Although I am sure Priests have fathered kids.

ShatnersWig · 20/02/2018 14:04

Bodicea Bearing in mind how many lovers/boyfriends she'd had prior to Dodi, the idea that anyone could tell after a couple of weeks that this relationship was going to have legs, be long-term and result in a pregnancy so they'd better bump her off, is barmy beyond belief. The only person who thought it was remotely serious was Mohamed Al Fayed and he knew jack shit.

UtahGirl12 · 20/02/2018 14:08

Oh wow. I have just lost an hour of my life googling MJ's coffin pictures! Certainly strange!

The80sweregreat · 20/02/2018 14:12

Louis Theroux came very close to unmasking Saville once early 2000s - i watched that documentary thinking ' why are you hounding him?' the whole thing was very painful to watch. Of course, now, in hindsight, you can tell that he was uneasy ( for a reason) and very reluctant to answer questions.
this was years ago of course, its such a shame that nothing was done, but you could say that about anything i guess. its the victims i feel so sorry for.

catholic preists and their kids and families all living in plain sight! thats a new one on me. nothing would surprise me though. I am sure there are lots and lots of things going on that we dont know about.

youngnomore · 20/02/2018 14:14

so many I had no idea about. I should read more. Blush

ferriswheel · 20/02/2018 14:18

Is the 'there is no Finland' a joke?

Backenette · 20/02/2018 14:23

I always find it hard to believe in some ways that saville went unchallenged for so long. Even as a child I found certain men on TV unsettling (Rolf Harris, savillile and a certain ‘kitty’ - i remember saying to my mum as a young teen that kitty had a weird look in his eyes that freaked me out - ‘the light of god, and god knows what else’ I think she said.

So many people must have suspected, or known. And yet nothing done. That suggests they either had powerful friends sharing their proclivities and/or knew something that gave them serious leverage.

This I think will be the next scandal. I do wonder if the me too movement is in some ways either a sacrificial diversion or maybe a way of softening up the public for some very unpleasant revelations.

Helmetbymidnight · 20/02/2018 14:24

Heading the leave campaign were the most popular leaders (Boris, Farage) and the remain campaign led by the least popular leaders (Cameron, May).
Farage wasn't even in the leave campaign, the remain campaign wasn't led by May. She wasn't in it.

Why are you just making things up?

TM was parked in the remain camp for good reason - her unpopularity. As was DC.

Parked? What the fuck does that even mean?

This suggestion that if you don't believe that the moon landings were faked or that Princess Diana was murdered by Prince Philip means you are brain-washed/naive or stupid is ridiculous.

Just show us some proper evidence/logic instead of what you "reckon" happened.

Incidentally, do people feel Harry and William were in on the murder or that secretly they hate their grandparents?

Bixg · 20/02/2018 14:26

Finally got through the whole thread - I started reading it around 7:30am!

The theory I believe is true is that David Kelly was murdered.

One that I find fascinating, but probably not true, is that Hilary Clinton had Vince Foster bumped off.

Also Shock at amblin director and Sad at the thought that a perfick national treasure might not be a nice guy

DangerousMouse · 20/02/2018 14:32

What is the MJ coffin conspiracy please? Sounds fascinating

Nousernameforme · 20/02/2018 14:39

I believe that Shakespeare was actually Marlow. Marlow faked his death helped by walsingham who he spied for. He was due to be questioned due to his sexuality and there were concerns in case he slipped up and said something he shouldn't

If you look at paintings of them both you can see the resemblance.

DullAndOld · 20/02/2018 14:41

I believe that Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes were the same person..:)

Backenette · 20/02/2018 14:50

I believe the Black Death was probably more likely to be a form of haemorrhagic fever rather than yersina pestis. If you look at the epidemiology it fits perfectly with a virus with a direct transmission and a 37 day incubation. It does NOT fit bubonic or pneumonic plague. Also there were no rats AT ALL in some of the more northerly countries that were hit. None. So no zoonotic vector. They’ve found y pestis in tooth pulp from plague pits but I don’t think that’s any kind of smoking gun - people would have been dying of all sorts then. The epidemiology just doesn’t support classical plague - and the records we have are really good. You can actually see in some northern parish records who lived with whom, who got sick and died when. You can actually trace who infected whom.

Nousernameforme · 20/02/2018 14:56

Dull and Old you are wrong Grin

Backenette That sounds really interesting about the plague how do you go about looking at the parish records from that time? Is it just go and ask or are they online or is it just for academics?

Also who is kitty pm if you don't want to say on here

UtahGirl12 · 20/02/2018 15:09

Kitty is a Young One who had himself a Living Doll! “Congratulations” if you work it out! 😂

UtahGirl12 · 20/02/2018 15:10

Dangerousmouse, google Michael Jackson, James Brown and coffin!

DullAndOld · 20/02/2018 15:14

ah but nousername, they had the same date of death, and there are many 'missing years' from Shakespeare's life.
Ergo....
Sorry but it makes as much sense as some of these other theories...

123MothergotafleA · 20/02/2018 15:18

Fascinating , your theory about The Black Death, sounds right ( even though I'm not a scientist like yourself!)
Also, I was amused about your Mother's comment re kitty's at!!!

The80sweregreat · 20/02/2018 15:19

The coffin pictures are strange - but, ( its a big but) if MJ is still around somewhere - where is he? he died in 09 - thats a long old time for someone not to see him - somebody not to blab? nowhere is that remote surely? unless the whole family are in on it and looking after him in a basement somewhere - or bought an island in the pacific for him or something daft like that. he was going to do a big comeback tour the following year - it was already sold out. none of it makes any sense to suddenly fake your own death - i even heard he went to his own memorial! I dont think he could have kept it up for very long if he had faked it all. They said the same about Elvis though, so i can see how it all starts when these high profile celebrities die. With the internet too, that adds fuel to the fire!
