Which theories, dismissed by many as conspiracy theories, do you regard as the truth?

I think there's a lot of bollocks about Diana, Sandy Hook, 9/11 and the moon landings on this thread, but one I do believe is the Westminster paedophile coverup. I mean it isn't even a conspiracy theory, victims have come forth with their stories. But I think it's entirely possible Jill Dando was murdered because she knew too much. And that the reason the 9 charges against "Kitty" were dropped is because he will sing like a canary if charged and name names.

Although the stories about Jimmy Savile and certain politicians being "small fry" compared to some of the other involved makes me wonder just who would be classed as large fry?

I think Jeremy Bamber is innocent of murdering his family. It just doesn’t add up. Not sure if that counts as a conspiricy or just a miscarriage of justice though.

Wow, there are more spectacularly dim people on MN than I realised.

Just think how you'd start having to "organise" something huge like the disappearance of a jet filled with people or a terrorist attack on London/New York. Think about all the people who would have to be "in on it" to make it work - in the event of the plane for example you'd need help from the airline, the crew, the air traffic controllers, the ground staff wherever you believe the plane is taken etc etc. Even more people would have to be colluding in covering up using three planes to attack America. You'd have to make sure nobody kept any email, all phone records were erased, no Skype calls, no faxes, no paper.

If you REALLY believe that any organisation can arrange that sort of event and guarantee that nobody ever talked about it then you are so open-minded that your brain has clearly fallen out completely.

I think we have been to the moon but that the initial landing was faked.

FWIW I am not sure the Russians would have been responsible anyway. They would have been watching JFK closely and his sexual behaviour was so appalling it would have been very easy to discredit him, far easier than killing him.

Like in Red Dwarf, when they travel back in time and knock LHO out the window, and eventually have to get JFK to be the second shooter on the grassy knoll to fix everything

Just because people say 9/11 was an inside job doesn't mean that it wasn't a terrorist attack. There are 000s of theories ranging from turning a blind eye to actually hiring the bombers. There were some very strange facts post 9/11, like flights to Saudi Arabia. Claims that a pilot's passport was found within 10 minutes.

I firmly believe that Nessie was cooked up by the Inverness tourism industry because loch ness is that rarest of things: a really dull looking loch. There’s not even a decent chippy at Drumnadrochit.

Of course a plane can disappear in the ocean. The ocean is huge, a plane is tiny. Mh370 will be predominantly on the seabed somewhere - some bits have washed up in reunion island but the chances of finding any parts is pretty small when you look at the relative sizes of plane and ocean.

Paedophile rings in Hollywood were once considered a conspiracy theory, I think people who say they are non-believers of any conspiracy are a bit naive. I do think conspiracy’s like Sandy Hook and flat earthers get pushed into the limelight on these sort of discussions to deflect that there is some truth in some theories and people don’t want to believe it.

Some are rediculous and some carry some weight

@Cupofcake that Paul macartney really died yonks ago and was replaced with a lookalike that had surgery to look even more like Paul as without Paul the Beatles fans would have dropped off.

There are websites devoted to comparing his facial features from now and back in the day and people say they can't possibly be the same person due to things like earlobes being different, eye colour / shape.
