I've name changed for this as it is very outing!

Basically, I work in a small office with 2 other ladies doing the admin etc, for a local business. I have been there, full time, for just over 3 years, the 2nd works part time and has been there for almost 1 year and the 3rd is a new starter, still on probation.

We don't socialise outside of work and I wouldn't say we were particularly friendly.

For Christmas, the 3 of us were given a bottle of prosecco, a box of chocolates and a scratch card.

My scratch card was a winner! £25k winner.

I was over the moon! I've had a tough few years financially and this really couldn't have come at a better time. The money paid off a few bills and the rest will be used as a deposit on my very own little house (as soon as I find it!) I'm very excited!

After new year, I invited the 2 ladies I work with out for a champane afternoon tea in a swanky hotel and then we went for manicures and pedicures. All my treat.

This morning, I was taken into the office by the owner of the business and told that the other ladies have asked him to speak to me regarding the winnings, as they feel it should be shared 3 ways. And my boss agrees as he feels that my winning has caused a bad vibe in the office.

AIBU by not sharing? I'll be honest and say that the thought of sharing with them never even crossed my mind and I still have no intention of doing so, but I just wanted to get some other opinions...

grannytomine - they are not comfortably off Sad

HerRoyalNotness · 01/02/2018 20:31

No! It was your gift, your benefit. It's a pity you told them, I would have kept very quiet

Sadly I think you might need to look for another job, if they're causing issues now, and your boss is involved and on their side, it doesn't bode well

Check these out, if you don't believe me.

This is the list of actual physical cards that can be bought in shops.

Mrsmadevans · 01/02/2018 20:36

Op congratulations on YOUR win.

HeckyPeck · 01/02/2018 20:39

Ha! I thought most of the online ones had equivalents in shops Grin

Maybe a charity scratch card?

2birds1chick · 01/02/2018 20:46

Hecky

I don't know a huge amount about charity scratchcards to be fair, but most I've seen have seen have top prizes MUCH below £25k.

Don't think they'd make much for their charities with top prizes that high.

But I'm willing to stand corrected if OP ever comes back.

BarbraDear · 01/02/2018 20:48

Err, hell no!!

And if the Daily Fail do pick this up then the cheeky fucker workmates will see how completely unreasonable 200+ posters think they are and grabby cunts

Next year you should mention that after last xmas you expect all xmas gifts to be brought in and shared coz, you know, that's how they think it goes.

Cheeky twats!

Strictly1 · 01/02/2018 20:51

If the boss wants them to be given money tell him he is free to do so!

Tapandgo · 01/02/2018 20:51

Can’t understand why you would have to share your winnings! I wouldn’t have mentioned the win - and I bet they would not have had they won.
I wouldn’t ask for a meeting either - nothing to do with anybody what you do with your money.

Crazyladee · 01/02/2018 20:52

I would have kept completely quiet about the winnings if I had been you. Money can be the root of all evil and you can just imagine the animosity going on in that office all in the name of jealousy.

To answer your question.. Your scratch card... Your winnings, so no you shouldn't have to share.

People change details in their posts all the time to stop being recognised. £20,000, £25,000, £30,000 so what?!

vhsrecorder absolutely. However, it was an odd amount to choose if it was a NL scratch card. The current winnable amounts are very specific - 5k, 10k and 50k for big amounts in that ballpark. Can understand changing details, but why one that’s easy to see is ‘untrue’, especially on a thread where the story would be ‘easily recognisable and outing’.

SingingSeuss · 01/02/2018 21:30

Your boss needs to grow a backbone. Personally I would have kept quiet about the winnings though, no reason for work colleagues to know anything about your personal life. I would be pissed off that you have clearly tried to be nice and instead of being grateful they have decided to be greedy and try it on. Sadly your employer has put you in an awkward situation. Personally I would be looking for another job. I couldn't work for someone who didn't have my back.

GrumbleBumble · 01/02/2018 21:30

As far as I am aware cards are withdrawn once all the top prizes are won. Just because there isn't a £25k prize on sale on 2st February 2018 doesn't mean there wasn't one on sale before Christmas 2017.

Tistheseason17 · 01/02/2018 21:32

I'd change the £amount, too, to be less identifiable.
Also, I'm not a detective so I'd pick an amount from thin air and I wouldn't scour the internet to check the amount I made up was available to win on s scratch card.

Too many troll hunters spoiling threads...
