Period shits and javelin arse.

My body is fucking with me. I haven’t bothered with periods for years and years (mirena) but for some reason Mother Nature has seen fit to curse me this weekend.

But this is just ridiculous. It’s like all the horrible weirdness at once. It’s not even that heavy flow now but I am in AGONY. And I’d forgotten about the horror that is the period shit, that was a fun half hour. And javelin arse, which weirdly I was only talking about the other day as one of those odd body quirks.

I’m in bed, curled up, with the dog as a hot water bottle. Ibuprofen hasn’t even slightly helped.

What I don’t get is that this is a monthly reality for some. Like, how do you function when your body is doing this to you regularly?

I’m just crossing my fingers that this isn’t some perimenopausal weirdness meaning I’ll be having proper periods from here on. Because I don’t think I can hack it.

(Totally posting as a distraction btw, I know I’m not BU)

Isn't javelin arse a classic symptom of endo as are heavy painful periods. Maybe you should get checked out if it continues.

CillitBangYouCompleteMe · 29/01/2018 17:18

Javelin arse? Is thst like a weird cramp in your anus? I get that. WFT is it?

Sorry about all the other stuff. Have some Wine and Cake

RelentlessSylvia · 29/01/2018 17:18

what is javelin arse?

redexpat · 29/01/2018 17:25

Javelin arse/glass arse is an incredibly sharp pain in your arse. No matter which way you turn it feels as if you are being impaled. If you dont know what it is count this as one of lifes blessings!

candlefloozy · 29/01/2018 17:29

I've had javelin arse before but not always on my period?! I've never mentioned it to anyone Cus I thought I was just weird!! This has made me feel better! Lmao! Though haven't had it for a while

FancyNewBeesly · 29/01/2018 17:31

Longterm endo sufferer here - I get javelin arse throughout my cycle (today it made me do a loud yelp on the train) due to endo in my pouch of Douglas.

Have you had any help for this?

AnachronisticCorpse · 29/01/2018 17:33

The female body is a serious pisstaker.

I’ve said this before but if men had periods it would be totally different. Not just because they’d brag about soaking through tampons, but they’d have perfected a cure for all the nasty symptoms.

I have levator ani syndrome - I sympathise - not bad with periods but exercise makes it come on for ages

Groovee · 29/01/2018 17:37

This was me every month for 9 days. Last year I finally lost enough weight to have an endo ablation. Best thing ever. I might get a little bleeding just when I go to the loo for a day or 2 and that's it no pain, no feeling that my bowel might fall out, no panicking if I have had a massive flood or not.

AnachronisticCorpse · 29/01/2018 17:38

Oof. I’ve just googled that.

I feel a bit shit whinging about my first period for 15 years now, hugs and admiration to you guys who deal with worse than this every month.

Mine have weirdly started to get better. Was on the pill from 15-18, 20-25. Periods shit most of being 25, but a year later and they have calmed down a tonne. I'm sure it would be bollocks to think a pill detox has helped, but the longer it's been since I've taken the pill the better mine have got. It's like I had x amount of painful ones and a switch has flicked now. Bizarre.

Javelin arse! There's a name for it?! Just thought I was weird. It's not linked to periods for me but feels exactly like I'm being impaled.

Javelin arse!

lubeybooby · 29/01/2018 17:43

I get javelin arse at ovulation and sometimes during period. Had endo investigated and diverticulitis too but nope. Just Javelin arse. It needs to be it's actual medical name, that.

BringMeTea · 29/01/2018 17:46

I had this. Endo diagnosed eventually age 41.

yawning801 · 29/01/2018 17:46

OMG... javelin arse! I started on Saturday and every time I sat down today... ouch. Now munching on cheesecake and looking at my laptop in my dressing gown... after a McDonalds.

Don't judge, the inside of my uterus is coming out right now. Grin

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 29/01/2018 17:48

If you are really suffering then try buscopan; its an anti-spasmodic often used for IBS. It can help with the bloating and javelin arse.

Be kind to yourself. I used to feel like I'd been beaten up by the end of my period. The Mirena has stopped mine for now.

HamishBamish · 29/01/2018 17:51

I hate period symptoms. I too get diarrhoea and javelin arse, alongside just feeling knackered and shit. It's horrible.

BackBoiler · 29/01/2018 17:53

I have had a hysterectomy due to extremely heavy painful periods but they have left my cervix as it is attached to my bladder. I am having a small period from the bastard thing!

MsHarry · 29/01/2018 17:53

Oooh not had javelin arse for a while now! Mid 40s now so maybe i'm done with that. Grin

MsHarry · 29/01/2018 17:54

Currently have period cramps and some viral thing at the same time. Joy of joys!

YesitsJacqueline · 29/01/2018 17:55

I've been like this for 29 years since I was 13...I have endometriosis and it's now escalated to cysts on my ovaries.
It's rubbish op. The only time my periods were manageable was when I was a super fit gym bunny .
Try feminax. Hope you feel better soon

MsHarry · 29/01/2018 17:56

Until MN my sister and I called it bum stabs! Javelin arse is such a good description.

MsHarry · 29/01/2018 17:58

yawning you are hilarious. Love it.

ranoutofquinoa · 29/01/2018 17:59

I also get this mid cycle. Tested for PCOS and endometriosis and all fine, however they did discover a growth on my kidney! Hmmhad some acupuncture a few years back and they seemed to sort it but could do with a top up session.
