In a fury re queue in cafe who was first

I was in a fury earlier this afternoon. re this scenario. DH said he thought I was in the wrong but I don't think I was. We went into this café/deli type place for tea. A woman was just in front of me through the door. She went to the deli counter. There is a sign just before the seating part that says queue here to be seated so I stood there. I was the only one in that queue. Then she called over table for two and swept passed. No other tables free.

So DH went out. As he probably thought I'd say something. Then they said around five minutes. So I said I'd be back later and that I could have shouted too. It has really put me off going in this place again although the food is nice. We went somewhere else which was nice too. But was really annoyed. (I know it's trivial.) DH said she was in the café first. So she was first. But she wasn't in the queue. Grrrrrr!!!

Let it go, FGS. Life is too short to get worked up over something so trivial.

She WAS in the cafe first. Seriously, you'd have taken her spot because she happened to have stood in the wrong place?!

If she had walked into the cafe after you but then swept past you to be seated first, she'd have been out of order. But she didn't. She walked into the cafe first and was seated first. There is no issue here.

A non-issue. Why waste energy getting into a fury about it?

You were in the right place to be seated but the woman who had gone in in front of you was seated first? Is that it? Even though she had stopped off at the deli bit?

Well, technically, she was still in there before you, although she wasn't standing by the "please wait here" bit.

I think your dh is right actually, i think you were being a bit sneaky and are annoyed it didn't work. It's definitely not worth being in a fury about either way

Agree with @AuntLydia - she was actually there first. Just because she wasn't sure where to stand doesn't suddenly mean you get to jump in!

If your dh walked out because he thought you’d say something, do you think it’s possible that you have form for getting overly wound-up about things? (I also think your dh is right. She arrived before you did.)

It was a non-event I agree. But I was still annoyed. She was going to get something at the deli counter till she saw me in the queue then shouted. DH doesn't want to hear anymore about it. So I'm leaving him in peace and venting out my fury here.

She was first though?

Whoever seated her first was in the wrong. She should have been told to join the queue to be seated. I would be pissed off too.

She was first, so got the table. You are getting wound up because the right thing was done?

Maybe she was asking at the deli counter where someone was to show her to a table?

Blimey, there's trivial and then there's minuscule mouse sized fart trivial.

Ok so she didn't obey the almighty sign, but even so, in a fury at being asked to wait five minutes?

And people saying she was first, she wasnt!

She was first in the shop not first in the queue for tables.

By that logic, if I walk into Tesco in front of someone does that mean I can go in front of them at say the meat counter because I was in the shop first?

It would take something extreme to get me furious.

Why didn't you run forward, grab her coat, wrestle her to the floor and shout 'you were standing in the wrong place. Read the sign you badly queueing fucker' ?

Surely that's what most people would have done.
