In a fury re queue in cafe who was first

I was in a fury earlier this afternoon. re this scenario. DH said he thought I was in the wrong but I don't think I was. We went into this café/deli type place for tea. A woman was just in front of me through the door. She went to the deli counter. There is a sign just before the seating part that says queue here to be seated so I stood there. I was the only one in that queue. Then she called over table for two and swept passed. No other tables free.

So DH went out. As he probably thought I'd say something. Then they said around five minutes. So I said I'd be back later and that I could have shouted too. It has really put me off going in this place again although the food is nice. We went somewhere else which was nice too. But was really annoyed. (I know it's trivial.) DH said she was in the café first. So she was first. But she wasn't in the queue. Grrrrrr!!!

Have never posted before, but felt I had to on this one, since I feel the same way constantly. I understand that getting furious over 'little things' will ruin your happiness and maybe your family's (as your mood spills over), so we must ignore stuff, which is what most advice is. But why must we ignore so much, ie let people get away with things that aren't right? And why are we encouraged so much to think we should just relax? Why can't people just respect the rules? If you're meant to wait to be seated, then wait. Not many people seem to think that even small rules are important. But if we ignore small rules, then aren't we setting things up to ignore big rules too? I know there should be a balance, but I was surprised by most of these reactions to OP's post that she is BU. I don't think so! More (balanced, tongue-in-cheek) outrage against the queue jumper, please.

But she went in the cafe before you, so even if she had done the right thing and queued at the sign she would still have got the last table! Hmm

I don’t know how many times that point has to be made.

sigh

If the DH came on here explaining the situation, he would be clearly told, "Life's too short. LTB".

It really is trivial and ifvit happened rarely you probably would laugh ot off but so many people act in this manner that it becomes a much bigger issue than it should be. The ones that annoy me the most are the people who hold a place in queue for other people, the worse was in a cafe buying some breakfast before work and the man in front of me allowed about six of his colleagues to join him in front of me! I’d being queuing for ages as it was. Most annoying. So many people just put themselves first everytime.
