AIBU to rage at knicker gussets - or is it me? (lighthearted!)

First off, by knicker gussets I mean the double fabric bit that covers your under-carriage. And I've always presumed it has the cottony bit to be kind to your delicate areas and catch the odd drop of fanny juice that may leak out.

Well, my anatomy seems to be that anything liquid that you'd want to be caught in your knickers winds its way through all my labia, to exit at the front. This means it misses the gusset and hits the flimsy fabric - so it's visible. Is that just me it happens to? Am I an outlier, or have all knicker manufacturers got womens' anatomy wrong for all this time?

While this has never been a significant problem up to now, aside from careful positioning of sanitary towels during periods, it's now an issue thanks to peri-menopoause causing my fanny to get quite runny. I really don't want to have to wear panty liners every single day (hot and itchy), but I do because otherwise I'll be washing knickers AND trousers every day and I generally get a 2-3 days wear out of my trousers.

Anyone else? Blush

No, I’m a gusset hitter.however any bit of lace anywhere near the gusset will get entangled with my fanjo ( yes I have experienced fanny strangling and it is unpleasant).

But do it OP, Rage! Rage against the gusset!

ConfusedLivingDoll · 07/01/2018 20:14

I don't have this problem. But neither is my fanny Barbie sized!

LemonysSnicket · 07/01/2018 20:17

And I certainly don’t have a barbie fanny @Scrowy. My gusset hitting is caused because of the positioning of my inner Labia, which funnel any liquid directly down to the base of my vagina, hence hitting gusset.

Rage against the gusset

😂😂😂😂😂😂

WhyamIBoredathome · 07/01/2018 20:18

I don't have this issue but the answer is to use cloth reusable pantyliners. Many small makers will custom make for you so if you explain they would be able to make longer and wider at the front. They are not hot or itchy.

MillieMoodle · 07/01/2018 20:40

I didn't have this issue until I had DS2 who was a large baby. Now I have this issue Blush

thelastredwinegum · 07/01/2018 20:51

Me too Blush Which panty liners do people recommend?

itsgettinghotinhere80 · 07/01/2018 20:55

Err, nope Confused

WineAndTiramisu · 07/01/2018 21:01

Me too, and worse in pregnancy, daily panty liners put really far forwards. I thought I was just weird!

stickygotstuck · 07/01/2018 21:09

I am an optimist, I always assumed it was the knickers fault. And I was right!

I remember having cotton knickers that did go up as high as they needed to, you could see quite a bit of gusset if you stood in front of the mirror. This was abroad and the brand disappeared. Haven't found any properly made knickers since Sad

The two worst words in the English language-

Moist Gusset...

On another note, I have the same problem but use the reusable ones from Earthwise Girls. Much better and less waste in landfill. Win win!

tillytown · 07/01/2018 21:24

There was someone who wrote almost exactly the same thread a couple of months ago, and was ripped to shreds for asking people to sign a petition asking for longer gussets. I hope she sees this and knows she isn't alone.

Of course the problem here is that it is not the gusset that is moist.

On my list of conversations with the ladies next week end 'So ladies when you drip in your gusset where does it land? Are you a in the centre girl, at the front girl or at the back girl?'... going to be interesting Grin

Happy Shopper Ultra Thin from the corner shop can take a bashing and no mistake.

GuntyMcGee · 07/01/2018 23:02

I have also been known to miss the gusset. Discharge and periods tend to end up toward the front and over the front edge of the gusset. I thought it was just some weird quirk if my anatomy, but now I realise it's the knickers that are the issue!

Talking of knickers, I recently bought some 'brazilian' style pants from Matalan which looked pretty but the gusset was nothing more than a central seam with a cotton diamond roughly sewn onto it. So not only does my vag juice completely miss any part of the gusset, the bloody seam gives the most horrific camel toe! Most disappointing.

ApacheEchidna · 07/01/2018 23:09

Ooh I assumed I was just weird or that the gusset was unnaturally far back on me solely because of my enormous arse and it would be correctly positioned if I was slimmer. I did consider writing an op just like thus once but didn't feel brave enough in case I was the only one.

Well done op. We should have a campaign. Or a kickstarter if someone wants to design a better option?

Mumguiltisabitch · 07/01/2018 23:16

I drip to the front as well always have done! I never even considered that it was strange, but actually I didn't realise that that was whaf a gusset was for!!

littlebrownbag · 07/01/2018 23:25

It’s like I’ve found my people! This is not a conversation that I could ever have in real life - thank goodness for the anonymity of the internet so we can ask all these weird “am I normal” questions.

While I’m on a roll, and at the risk of oversharing further because I’ve been on the Christmas liqueurs to “drink out of the way”, I have been known to actually wear a hole in my knickers at the front-of-gusset point, after I’ve had a busy day and I’ve been a bit, er, stubbly. That was unexpected.

Whilst we're talking gussets... does anyone else get 'rusty gusset'?? 😶

Clitoria · 08/01/2018 00:19

It’s because knicker designers don’t take into account the fact that women HAVE ARSES. My knickers fit me, not too tight or too loose, but they don’t cover my arse, so the front of them sits skimming my pubes, so that my arse is covered and therefore, the gusset is way back from where it should be if the fucking knickers were designed by people who had ever seen a real, live woman this wouldn’t be an issue.
There’s nothing wrong with any of us, women are conditioned to believing our fannies are inherently ugly, smelly and disgusting because we are women, better buy fanny perfume and special wipes and shave and consider surgery and disinfect it if you expect anyone to go near it Hmm I reject this and the failure that is knickers made for cardboard cutouts.

I had rusty gusset, I switched to black knickers and got bleached gusset Grin

Charolais · 08/01/2018 03:38

After menopause you get a short reprieve lasting anywhere from a few days to a few months then you go right into piddling your pants when you do any of the following; laugh, sneeze, cough or scream, and that, I hate to tell you, also manages to dribble up and out the front. Probably due squeezing your legs together so hard to stop it - lol.

It never ends - but it’s all better than being dead I always say. Smile
