AIBU to rage at knicker gussets - or is it me? (lighthearted!)

First off, by knicker gussets I mean the double fabric bit that covers your under-carriage. And I've always presumed it has the cottony bit to be kind to your delicate areas and catch the odd drop of fanny juice that may leak out.

Well, my anatomy seems to be that anything liquid that you'd want to be caught in your knickers winds its way through all my labia, to exit at the front. This means it misses the gusset and hits the flimsy fabric - so it's visible. Is that just me it happens to? Am I an outlier, or have all knicker manufacturers got womens' anatomy wrong for all this time?

While this has never been a significant problem up to now, aside from careful positioning of sanitary towels during periods, it's now an issue thanks to peri-menopoause causing my fanny to get quite runny. I really don't want to have to wear panty liners every single day (hot and itchy), but I do because otherwise I'll be washing knickers AND trousers every day and I generally get a 2-3 days wear out of my trousers.

Anyone else? Blush

@Blessyourheart YES!!!

Fabulous thread! M&S could surely come up with some discreet branding for anatomically correct knickers?

I love this thread so much. Nothing like a bit of shared over-sharing. Definitely made my evening.

Fannies are like belly buttons, innies and outies. Outies may touch the cloth more, no?

Thank god I am not the only one !
Agree with seemstressfrom treaclemine road, Sloggis are great undies for women and men , they may be a little more expensive than your average knickers but they have the gusset in the right place and dont stretch out of shape .

NettieF · 14/01/2018 08:25

sloggi shorts and big knickers great. but not the tai brief.

picklemepopcorn · 14/01/2018 08:28

I wear sloggies, but still find the gussets too short.

Cotton knickers gets round the issue of wrongly placed gusset - everything is one big cotton gusset Grin

alotalotalot · 14/01/2018 11:04

It's design before practicality. They just won't look as pretty with the gusset showing round the front.

picklemepopcorn · 14/01/2018 11:09

But those of us who care where the gusset is need a little more than a single layer. And then there is the bleaching/rusting issue.

wagil · 14/01/2018 12:48

alotalot I think you're right, but lots of us don't wear our knickers for their looks, I'm in no hurry to show mine off. I want cotton granny knickers for practical reasons.

And come to think of it, surely a higher front on the gusset could be incorporated into a nice design anyway. I just don't think many women have asked for it, we just accept what's available.

just bought victoria secret tanga. gusset good. better than m&s. give me a centimetre to spare ‘upfront’.
