AIBU to rage at knicker gussets - or is it me? (lighthearted!)

First off, by knicker gussets I mean the double fabric bit that covers your under-carriage. And I've always presumed it has the cottony bit to be kind to your delicate areas and catch the odd drop of fanny juice that may leak out.

Well, my anatomy seems to be that anything liquid that you'd want to be caught in your knickers winds its way through all my labia, to exit at the front. This means it misses the gusset and hits the flimsy fabric - so it's visible. Is that just me it happens to? Am I an outlier, or have all knicker manufacturers got womens' anatomy wrong for all this time?

While this has never been a significant problem up to now, aside from careful positioning of sanitary towels during periods, it's now an issue thanks to peri-menopoause causing my fanny to get quite runny. I really don't want to have to wear panty liners every single day (hot and itchy), but I do because otherwise I'll be washing knickers AND trousers every day and I generally get a 2-3 days wear out of my trousers.

Anyone else? Blush

Ha, ha. Wait until you're past the menopause... you will no longer have a problem Gin

NotTheFordType · 07/01/2018 19:09

And in relation to the OP, yep I've always had to position my pads so my clit is pretty much in the middle, in order to catch everything. I think the position you sit in may contribute. I get more upward leakage if I'm reclining on the settee than when I'm upright at my desk.

Shelby1981 · 07/01/2018 19:12

OMG me too!!

LookMoreCloselier · 07/01/2018 19:13

This doesn't happen to me, ie any discharge would come out pretty much in the middle of the gusset and certainly doesn't move anywhere, but based on all the replies on this thread it is me that is the anomaly. Confused

IlPorcupinoNilSodomyEst · 07/01/2018 19:17

No, perfectly healthy vag for 30 years of marital unpleasantness, no thrush, bv or anything else! I am very inert generally though, possibly not a rec for anybody else....

MozTheMonster · 07/01/2018 19:18

TattyCat! Totally agree. No need for knickers anymore!!!! Dry as a bone. I will say though, that gussets were NEVER in the right place for me when I cared about gussets. (And I really dislike the word gusset).

IlPorcupinoNilSodomyEst · 07/01/2018 19:18

And there's no physical difference between a tampon and a tissue, surely?

BendydickCuminsnatch · 07/01/2018 19:20

Me too! I'm nowhere near menopause so don't think it's that. I second/third/whatever the cloth pads!

Aridane · 07/01/2018 19:22

Me too!

Blatherskite · 07/01/2018 19:27

If the Diary Doll pants are waterproof are they also not also non-breathable and guaranteed to give you thrush?

Jeffjefftyjeff · 07/01/2018 19:29

Oh me too, I thought I was weirdly shaped Blush

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2018 19:30

I have never had thrush in my life. Have never understood the assumption fanjos 'breathe'. How do they do that? Grin

Vitalogy · 07/01/2018 19:32

I agree OP, it definitely needs moving up. Pant liners for me.

eurochick · 07/01/2018 19:34

Badly fitting knickers slip backwards on me. The shorty type stays in place so the gusset stays where it should be.

Vitalogy · 07/01/2018 19:38

Those Diary Doll pants certainly give maximum coverage, I don't need that much yet but I'll keep them in mind. I agree, silly name though.

Wait till you do get thrush, then you'll understand. Wink (Obviously not wishing thrush on you in any way.)

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2018 19:40

But if you are wearing pads does that stop it 'breathing'? Confused

Vitalogy · 07/01/2018 19:41

It's a really bad design fault isn't it.

Vincenttx · 07/01/2018 19:42

The trouble I have with Diary Doll pants is that the gusset area is too wide. I use them for extra night protection with a sanitary towel, and it's too wide for the wings to go on properly.

Mind you, I always have to place towels further back, not forward, which seems to be the opposite to everyone else, based on this thread.

Blerg · 07/01/2018 19:44

I used to have this issue but I wear enormous pants and those sit just right. They are M&S briefs, 1-2 sizes too large. Honestly, after pregnancy I couldn’t go back to what felt like tiny pants.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 07/01/2018 19:46

And me too 😂 - being pregnant had only made this worse!!

TeaAndBisquits · 07/01/2018 19:48

I'm so pleased to hear it's not just me!

itsbetterthanabox · 07/01/2018 19:48

What do you mean you can see it?

MaunderHunt · 07/01/2018 19:52

Yup.

NoParticularPattern · 07/01/2018 20:08

Oh god so I’m not just some weird anatomical disaster?! Thank Christ for that!! I always get that (ahem) gathering at the front- being pregnant comes with extra discharge which seems hell bent on creating some sort of modern art installation in my pants. I have tried literally every style and brand going and none of them have a gusset in the right place. Not even my extra giant granny pants from M&S!! I tend to just get on with it and wash my trousers more often as I cannot bear pantyliners every day. Very prone to thrush in pregnancy and I find anything thicker than knickers makes that familiar itch start.
