AIBU to ask MNHQ if we can have a trans discussion section?

Skarossinkplunger · 21/11/2017 23:45

Out of the first 10 threads showing on my AIBU page 4 of them are trans threads. There is seriously no escaping, please can they have their own board?

malcomFfucker i dont understand why your comments have been deleted either.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/11/2017 17:37

It's incredibly valuable to be able to discuss this freely. Here's a news report for a case that's current in Canada at the moment. I think it speaks for itself. Universities are supposed to be places where students and researchers have the freedom to look critically at all ideas and learn to evaluate them. Well-meaning but misguided efforts to protect young people from ever being exposed to an idea they might not agree with will destroy higher education.

WitchesHatRim · 22/11/2017 17:37

Perhaps @MNHQ would come back and say why they have been deleted.

MillicentFawcett · 22/11/2017 17:38

@malcomFucker - I suspect your posts were deleted for personal attacks but I expect if you PM MNHQ, they’ll let you know

WitchesHatRim · 22/11/2017 17:38

@MillicentFawcett If that's the reason then there are plenty on here that should be deleted.

BeyondAssignation · 22/11/2017 17:40

As Malcom is back on a new name, I wonder if they are a PBP who was banned again? I didn't see anything that stuck out as deletable in earlier posts either, but I'm quite sure that attacking the mn moderation team is gonna make that one go poof quickly.

MillicentFawcett · 22/11/2017 17:40

We’ll report them then @WitchesHatRim. I didn’t see Malcolm’s posts but paranoia about a militant feminism anti trans mod is misguided at best I suspect

BeyondAssignation · 22/11/2017 17:42

For your next name, could I suggest the spelling as Malcolm ?

ArcheryAnnie · 22/11/2017 17:44

malcolmFfucker I am very very tired of women in this discussion, "militant feminists" even, being characterised as "anti-trans". I was never anti trans. I have spent my entire fucking life considering trans people my political siblings within the LGBT+ community. I have seriously considered, over many years, whether I might be trans - although I did not use that language, as the way we now think of trans identity is very different, and I have since come to believe gender is a prison. I have only started objecting to trans activism when it became clear that the trans activists gaining political traction were a bunch of homophobic, woman-hating assholes. Actual transsexuals, who don't claim the biologically impossible, and don't try to shit all over women, I don't have a problem with, and never have.

So stop it with this "anti-trans" nonsense.

MrMeSeeks · 22/11/2017 17:59

MillicentFawcett i didnt see anything that was a pa ( though havent been on here all day so may have missed it)

malcomFfucker saying things about the mods was maybe not the best idea! ( also probably a little unfair) Maybe you could send a pm and ask why your posts were removed?
They do respond to reports, so hopefully they will say why they removed them?

I suspect the reason that Malcolm's posts have been deleted is that they have posted in 3 different names on this thread hmm

I don’t even know why someone feels they need to do that.

I can understand if you want to to reveal personal information. Like having been raped for instance. And don’t want to continued to engage with people who you feel might have to always bear that in mind.

But did that person name change so they could appear as though they were three different people all making the same argument?

How weak must your argument be to do that?

MsGameandWatching · 22/11/2017 18:14

😒 Best get rid of all sub forums then if you think that's what happens.

Well not really as the likes of gaming and knitting aren't particularly controversial and topical are they?

nooka · 22/11/2017 18:18

Reading this thread MalcolmTucker/ Malcolmfucker/ malcolmFfucker's arguments seem incredibly familiar I am sure that they have made the exact same argument on at least one previous thread if not more (the who cares about women's sports because it's just crap in particular was very familiar, as is the I'm a poor downtrodden MRA line). It's also not just one post but the lot so I think sockpuppeting plus PBF.

Datun · 22/11/2017 18:19

Hand on heart, I have never gone to a forum on a subject that doesn’t apply to me and that I’m not interested in and said to the mods, oh for gods sake can you take this off my screen please?

If it doesn’t apply to you and you’re not interested in it, don’t look at it.

However. If you are interested in it, but disagree with it, then bloody well engage.

HemanOrSheRa · 22/11/2017 18:20

I can understand that on a day to day basis many women will feel they aren't and probably/maybe not be affected. But surely things like funding for Women's diseases and cancers will be affected in the future? Any statistics will be 'off' and budgets will be cut.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/11/2017 18:25

Indeed. Imagine being a GP and having a new patient come in. The name on the screen is Mr John Smith. The person on the seat is 5' tall and weighs 7 stone, but has a beard and a deep voice. The date of birth given means that this person is 21 years old. Normally you would discuss with a 21yo woman whether she should have a smear test. But once gender self-identification is protected in law you might wonder if it would be a hate crime to suggest to this person that they are biologically female and at risk of cervical cancer.

MrMeSeeks · 22/11/2017 18:26

I suspect the reason that Malcolm's posts have been deleted is that they have posted in 3 different names on this thread hmm
How so you know this? Surely if it was sockpuppertly everyonewould be deleted..

Datun · 22/11/2017 18:28

HemanOrSheRa

I agree. On a day-to-day basis. This may not affect any specific woman.

Until it does.

It’s difficult to explain to women who think they are going to be unaffected by this, (including me), exactly why this is so important.

It certainly won’t affect men. Which is why their opinion, although interesting, is kind of irrelevant.

In a way, comes down to your self-esteem - as a woman.

And whether or not you think it’s worth your time.

All I would say, to women, is you wouldn’t even have the opportunity to voice your opinion if it hadn’t been for other women who promoted your interests.

sagamartha · 22/11/2017 18:28

But once gender self-identification is protected in law you might wonder if it would be a hate crime to suggest to this person that they are biologically female and at risk of cervical cancer

Because that's really going to be the thought process of a GP Hmm

GPs have a duty of care. It would be a difficult conversation but trans healthcare is important and GPs should be aware of issues like this.

Datun · 22/11/2017 18:29

How so you know this? Surely if it was sockpuppertly everyonewould be deleted..

I wouldn’t.

MillicentFawcett · 22/11/2017 18:32

There's enormous medical and policy implications at local, regional and national levels in education, healthcare, prison services, social services, sports provision ...

20% of Labour's inaugural cohort for the Jo Cox Women's Leadership programme (funded by the Jo Cox Foundation) were transwomen. Who apparently make up less than 1% of the population. And now Lily has someone putting them forward for the next cohort, despite the fact they joined the labour party a mere 3 months ago.

Identify as trans! Get a fasttrack ahead of women AND men! Really, if you were ambitious, why wouldn't you do this? From a snotty kid in an unloved corner of the Medway towns to national fame and adulation virtually overnight! Much easier than going on the X Factor.

Bucketsandspoons · 22/11/2017 18:34

I'm confused as to why Malcolm's posts were deleted too. Confused

MillicentFawcett · 22/11/2017 18:35

@MrMeSeeks - I'm taking a wild stab and guessing that malcomTucker, malcomFucker and malcomFfucker are all the same person. Maybe not and it's just a huge coincidence that three posters with really similar names are all on the same thread?

Just call me Hercule Poirot

Datun · 22/11/2017 18:37

sagamartha

I’ve read an account from a HCP. In the prison system. Who said that they were duty-bound to affirm someone’s gender identity. They knew full well that this person was identifying is a woman to access victims in the female estate.

They were between a rock and a hard place. They had to affirm the person’s identity, whilst knowing their motive. Which was to have access to female victims.

This is where the conflict arises.

There is no way to tell a sexual predator from a man with genuine gender dysphoria.
