At a 19yr Old Transwoman being elected a Labour woman’s officer

Seems the old WO stepped down after alleged bullying and accusation of transphobia. The new WO is a 19 yr old Transwoman - i think who made many of The allegations against the previous WO.

What experience has a 19 yr old TW got to hold this post - weirder than weird.

maybe i live a sheltered life but ive never met a trans women/man

There are transwomen on this board who are as horrified as the women here about the violent, misogynistic, homophobic trans activism that is becoming the norm.

runners if you have daughters, would you be comfortable with them sharing a changing room or dorm room with Lily/Liam, a biological male who has described themselves as "Savilles apprentice"?

TheTroutofNoCraic · 20/11/2017 20:28

This has been a bizarre day for me.

I've always dundered along through life, purporting to be a feminist, whilst never really actively engaging in debate and had never even considered the wider implications of the Trans issue.
I have a lovely friend who had a sex change (male to female) when we were in our early 20s, which I was very supportive of. My friend is just a quiet person who doesn't go in for political debate or activism.

But today I've been reading this thread, and others in Feminist chat, along with blogs, Anne's Twitter, the backlash etc with interest...have had my eyes and mind really opened. I feel so naive and a bit dim that it's taken me 33 years for this to sink in.

Everything you women are saying makes perfect sense to me now. I've been so conditioned by my quest for 'right on-ness' that I was completely blind to how this affects us as natal women.
I'm so angry about this.

anothernetter · 20/11/2017 20:32

Well Labour certainly won't ever be getting my vote now

Sentimentallentil · 20/11/2017 20:37

trout I think we all have lovely trans friends who it’s important to keep supporting, this isn’t about individual transsexuals who just want to get on with their lives. It’s been an epic sleight of hand and gaslighting to the extreme.

I have known a reasonable number, mostly MTF a couple of FTM. Their feelings on the TRA being funded by a small number of mostly white, older rich biological males who identify as females without transitioning, and imposing a very prescriptive definition cause them varying degrees of concern. Embarrassment, fear, uncertainty, anger at their identity as trans being denied, anger at the attempted erasure of lesbian identity are all cited and mostly they share the concerns about the erasure of biology as its sheer stupidity is some areas eg medicine. Precipitous transitioning or 'blocking' of children also causes concern because or bad medical advice being given to them. Some are parents themselves.

This may be because those I know would be classed as gender disphoria and a part of their identity was their trans state. They just want to get on with their own lives as transitioned men and women, not override the needs of other vulnerable people or deny the oppression of natal women. I think they get as crap a deal out of TRA as the rest of us for not being the "right sort" of trans.

BagelGoesWalking · 20/11/2017 20:48

What Zooey said:

“On the one hand I am grateful to MN and particularly the feminist board for educating me on these issues but on the other hand I feel totally depressed and disempowered.
The trans train is unstoppable”

Bloody depressing.

TheTroutofNoCraic · 20/11/2017 20:49

I'll always support my Trans friend...and anyone going through a tough time. I am wholly accepting of Trans people and their rights, as I am of anyone who is not harming anyone else.
But all I've seen of TRA from my cursory research today is the 'My voice is louder than yours, therefore I am right and you're a Transphobic bigot' mentality, which is fucking terrifying.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/11/2017 20:50

And now Lily asserting that someone has faked his Twitter account

Oh god, not again ... can't people at least be a bit more original? Angry

I also notice, on the linked Twatter feed, that TrisOsborne was asked to define what a woman is - a question, incidentally, that has also been asked repeatedly on here but not answered. I'm paraphrasing slightly, but his responses ran roughly thus:

Is that a rhetorical question?
Well, you've decided right and wrong for yourself so no point in me answering
The CLP will make the call on that - and it will be the right one
The answer will evolve, as science and understanding evolves

In other words he's another one unable or unwilling to answer the question Hmm

TheTroutofNoCraic · 20/11/2017 20:51

And Owen Jones (who I'd previously looked up to and admired on several issues) is enabling this and giving it a wider platform.

Sentimentallentil · 20/11/2017 20:51

Yeah that’s pretty much where I am trout.

hooochycoo · 20/11/2017 20:52

What I don't understand is what is the reasoning for changing the law so that people can decide themselves what gender they are without a doctor's certificate/surgery?

CAAKE · 20/11/2017 20:53

I bloody love you MNers 👊

I’ve written to my MP and all the Labour email addresses I could find. I included the “Liam” rape/Savile screen shot and links to the two LM threads.

There is so much activity on twitter tonight. Hopefully kicking this issue further into the mainstream.

TheTroutofNoCraic · 20/11/2017 20:53

Puzzled I did have a good ole eyeroll when I saw that earlier...Much like Lily/Liam refusing to (feigning ignorance) define Neo-liberalism on a rant on FB when someone pulled her up on her "Lily's against Neo-Liberalism" placard

GlitterGlue · 20/11/2017 21:05

Christ, even putting aside the trans issue what the fuck does a teenager know?

Eltonjohnssyrup · 20/11/2017 21:23

Has anybody covered that his Twitter from 2013 has been discovered? This is the person who women are supposed to go to for help. Complete with blow job pose and rape jokes.

mobile.twitter.com/liamlxiam?lang=en

BeyondAssignation · 20/11/2017 21:27

I had a thought. Assuming puberty blockers (obviously this is likely to be wrong, but still...) and now a year on oestrogen - this person hasn't been through puberty, neurological development-wise.
It's surely the equivalent of a 12 year old girl being in the role? (Obviously it isn't as a 12year old girl is still actually female)

Which then makes me wonder where this goes with employment law and things like sexual consent...? Confused

TheTroutofNoCraic · 20/11/2017 21:28

Elton Didn't you know? The awful transphobics invented a TERF-Timemachine and went back to 2013 and made a fake Twitter, complete with interactions avec his own brother, for added believe-ability

NettleTea · 20/11/2017 21:33

yup and the Labour Against Terf twitter account is exposing it all.
Set up today
about 3 followers

and naming anyone who shared it.

If you go in and look its going to be easy to find me I think.........

Bearberry · 20/11/2017 21:34

Fucking hell, this is ridiculous, dreadful news. I could literally cry. This is madness, how can this actually be allowed to happen?! Shock

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 20/11/2017 21:41

I suppose, when it comes to ASD, the trans lobby would point to the (bullshit) theory that asd is an extreme male brain to justify transitioning. These maniacs are a serious threat to an already vulnerable community.

cafeaulaitpourvous · 20/11/2017 21:45

The tweets from labour against terfs are pretty awful - they seem to be coming from someone in a blind panic

LizzieSiddal · 20/11/2017 21:52

Has anyone been able to forward those tweets to various newspapers The Times and Daily Mail would live this.

Also do the Labour Party know about these tweets?

SeaWitchly · 20/11/2017 21:54

I’ve worked in organisations where trans women lead a lot of the feminist work
