Or is anyone having a worse day?

Just back from overseas and my editor messaged me "meet up tomorrow?" I had had a lazy day Wednesday and was catching up on housework yesterday when he messaged and I said yes. Fab, days out with the boss are always great and he said it involves free drinks.

So yesterday....bloody yesterday I actually started getting ready. I put my jeans in the wash, put oil on my hair as it was a bit crispy from being on holiday dry and thought, if I don't get all the oil out in tonight's shower I have time to wash it again in the morning. Sorted. Jeans out the washer, threw them over the airer as dryer was already busy catching up with holiday stuff and washing in general.

Planned to meet my editor at noon, so get my jeans off the airer, still damp, it's gone 10am and I have to leave at 11am to walk to train station. No time to t throw them in the drier now so I'll have to suck it up. (He wouldn't tell me full details of where we are going, but I needed to dress v casual and I only have one pair of smart enough to leave the house in jeans)

I had planned to do Dutch braids, got one side perfect, other braid I just couldn't get to sit right so gave up and put in a ponytail. Pulled on damp jeans and the shirt I was hoping to wear to see a huge stain on shirt, grrrr.... easy to change my top but still another delay.

Change dirty shirt for clean one, but the new one seems too short with these jeans, needs vest underneath. I have loads of flesh coloured vests, and yup, they're still in the laundry I had done loads but not enough apparently

Find third option top, and finally ready to leave the house. I'm on my way to train station and check my phone. Editor messaged me to say "make it a bit later, see you at 3pm"

Oh well, it gives me time to finish my laundry but I've not seen my husband all week and now I won't be in when he gets home tonight.

Pretty sure people are having worse days than that.....

peachgreen · 13/10/2017 11:31

So... you had to go with a different outfit because you didn't wash the one you'd planned / wash it early enough, you had to redo your hair, and your free lunch got pushed back a couple of hours?

Confused

Sorry OP, but yes, I think other people are probably having worse days - even in a light-hearted fashion! Though I'd be annoyed about not being able to see my husband too.

Have a glass of wine at lunch and I'm sure you'll be feeling much better in no time. Smile

Hiphopopotamus · 13/10/2017 11:31

Confused is this really the worst day you can imagine?

I would say yes, there are probably lots of people having a worse day than damp jeans, non perfect hair, and free drinks later than ideal

minesapintofwine · 13/10/2017 11:33

I've had a nightmare of a week. My washer dryer broke blowing the electricity. I had to ask my parents for a loan to sort it. Big lecture on me for not having savings etc I know they're right . Got it sorted but then card wouldn't go through even though the money was there.

Ds has had tantrum after tantrum and is struggling with school and life in general.

Fell out with Dh and Dh fell out with my dad Hmm

And just numerous shitty little things. Most of it seems to be getting better now thankfully but I keep waiting for the next thing being the 13th and all that..

SaucyJack · 13/10/2017 11:33

Are you testing out chick lit on us?

minesapintofwine · 13/10/2017 11:34

I think your day is going to get worse now you've posted in aibu 😂

Shockers · 13/10/2017 11:36

Nope- my day is going pretty well so far!

OutnumberedbyFurchesters · 13/10/2017 11:36

Why do you not have time to put damp Jeans in the dryer when you still have an hour before you have to leave? 20mins on full heat surely do the trick? Confused

Also, yes, I am sure people are having far worse days than having to put their hair in a ponytail rather than planned dutch braids and having to change their top 3 times before going out with their boss on a jolly involving free drinks.

Guessing this meant to be lighthearted but, still - YABU.

MrsOverTheRoad · 13/10/2017 11:36

Fucking hell.

Hmm OP...you sound about 13.

PinkyBlunder · 13/10/2017 11:37

are you testing out chick lit on us

Grin love it

In all seriousness, there quite feasibly could be a few people having much worse days than you OP. Myself included unfortunately.

WishingCarrot · 13/10/2017 11:37

Talk about first world problems! Hmm

poopukeandbabywipes · 13/10/2017 11:37

Awww diddums. Get a grip!!

KarateKitten · 13/10/2017 11:39

Why is a perfect appearance the most important thing to decide a woman's mood. So many people fall apart if they don't have 'their face on'. What have we come to.

Maudlinmaud · 13/10/2017 11:41

I have a stye in the corner of my eye. It hurts everytime I blink. So yes I am.

Elllicam · 13/10/2017 11:41

I've heard from the garage that my car repairs are £300, the dentist says I need 6 fillings at £510, I've been soaked 4 times with the rain today and I'm constant nightshift now until next Thursday.

I think people are being too harsh on op. I'm feeling really shit today, but ops multiple top changes and hair disaster made me chuckle. It's cheered me up slightly.

mintteaandbananabread · 13/10/2017 11:43

your inability to dress yourself by lunchtime is not a terrible day.

SteelyPip · 13/10/2017 11:43

I have just locked myself in the sitting room and had to jump out of my sash window into a pile of cushions I'd thrown out to soften the fall.

It wasn't far at all, but I'm old and fat - so it was just dangerous enough for me not to feel embarrassed about what a tit I looked.

Then I had to walk barefoot over the really sharp gravelly pebbly path causing a mad exodus of small panicking spiders. I've only grazed my arm and am a bit achey - but when I went back in to pull the window down, the draft almost swung the bloody door shut again (no handle inside - that's another story)

The funniest thing was my cat watching the shenanigans from a small distance away meowing "N0 DON'T JUMP!" or so I imagine. Grin

NannyRed · 13/10/2017 11:44

Well that went well. I was hoping to start a thread about other people having things go wrong. Instead I get abused.

I'm not distraught, I still manage to laugh when life seemed to be trying it's best to make me late today.

Feeling disappointed to realise just how rude people can be for absolutely no reason. I wasn't asking for sympathy, advice or a solution.

@Minesapintofwine, I'm genuinely sorry to hear you've had a really bad week. I'm also sorry that m Friday 13th bad day thread opened me up to abuse when it was just for fun

KoalaD · 13/10/2017 11:44

I just saw my neighbour's cat get run over. So I (and my neighbour) are having worse days than you, yes.

TwatteryFlowers · 13/10/2017 11:45

That woman I've just read about who was attacked several times by several different men in a very short space of time is probably having a worse day than you who, to be fair, brought on a lot of your own misfortune through your own disorganisation.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 13/10/2017 11:45

Are you serious?? I cried on my boss boss yesterday due to where I work atm and how long I have to be there, my shitty, unchangeable hrs this week and next have really restricted when I can see my partner- we don't live together- and wiped out my social life. The part of my job I'm learning atm causes me stress and I struggle with it and I hate going in knowing I have to do it. I appreciate the inconvenience, but your life sounds nice in comparison if that counts as a really crap day. Angry

Maudlinmaud · 13/10/2017 11:46

Is it Friday the 13th. Oh ffs. I hadn't even realised.
