Just back from overseas and my editor messaged me "meet up tomorrow?" I had had a lazy day Wednesday and was catching up on housework yesterday when he messaged and I said yes. Fab, days out with the boss are always great and he said it involves free drinks.

So yesterday....bloody yesterday I actually started getting ready. I put my jeans in the wash, put oil on my hair as it was a bit crispy from being on holiday dry and thought, if I don't get all the oil out in tonight's shower I have time to wash it again in the morning. Sorted. Jeans out the washer, threw them over the airer as dryer was already busy catching up with holiday stuff and washing in general.

Planned to meet my editor at noon, so get my jeans off the airer, still damp, it's gone 10am and I have to leave at 11am to walk to train station. No time to t throw them in the drier now so I'll have to suck it up. (He wouldn't tell me full details of where we are going, but I needed to dress v casual and I only have one pair of smart enough to leave the house in jeans)

I had planned to do Dutch braids, got one side perfect, other braid I just couldn't get to sit right so gave up and put in a ponytail. Pulled on damp jeans and the shirt I was hoping to wear to see a huge stain on shirt, grrrr.... easy to change my top but still another delay.

Change dirty shirt for clean one, but the new one seems too short with these jeans, needs vest underneath. I have loads of flesh coloured vests, and yup, they're still in the laundry I had done loads but not enough apparently

Find third option top, and finally ready to leave the house. I'm on my way to train station and check my phone. Editor messaged me to say "make it a bit later, see you at 3pm"

Oh well, it gives me time to finish my laundry but I've not seen my husband all week and now I won't be in when he gets home tonight.

nanny thank you and don't worry aibu is known for being harsh.

I took it to be light hearted and it does sound like a frustrating morning.

putdownyourphone · 13/10/2017 11:47

How on earth did you come round to thinking it would be a good idea to post this?? That sounds like an average day to me - clothes not ready, hair a mess and meeting delays...

multivac · 13/10/2017 11:49

I think you need an editor.

Oh, hang on...

minesapintofwine · 13/10/2017 11:49

put average day here too. That said it does send me up the wall daily

Honeycombcrunch · 13/10/2017 11:49

YABU

I didn't sleep well last night due to pain from a chronic condition. My medication has made me feel queasy so I haven't been able to eat or shower yet today. I haven't left the house since last weekend and the same during the last week. I probably won't speak to anyone today until my DH comes home from work. One of my DCs is visiting California where there are fires raging so I'm worried about her. Another of my DCs has just failed all her exams and finally been diagnosed with a learning difficulty. Op, consider yourself lucky that you have so little to worry about!

I'm supposed to be at Grand Designs Live.

I received a call from an agency telling me that a prestigious hospital wants me.

They then ask for a series of blood test results which I have to go to London to have done and pay somewhere in the region of £300 for.

The bloody private company didn't answer my phonecall to check and see if the online appointment was successfully made, so now I'm waiting in for a phonecall to see if the appointment will allow two blood tests or if I have to rebook for some time in the week and cancel something else.

The hospital is berluddy miles away and will require a massive hike in travel expenses, the agency has shifted responsibility for paying its workers and wants me to register with an umbrella company, the job will ruin any plans I made for the near future and as the agency is in London, I'll have to mail all my personal documents to them so they can record them.

I am beyond pissed off that all my plans have turned to shit already.

dangermouseisace · 13/10/2017 11:54

seriously? You'd hate my life. This is just the start

Wake up at 5am on the sofa still in my (muddy) clothes from yesterday.
Brush teeth and go to bed in actual bed, still fully dressed.

Wake up (again). Realise it's 7.30 and everyone's overslept...

just the start

And this is a good day Grin

YogiYoni · 13/10/2017 11:56

Op: AIBU or is this the worst day? [tells long story about jeans being wet]
Everyone: YABU. Doesn't sound too bad
Op: Don't be so rude

If you wanted to start a Friday 13 thread, you could have just done that. Suggesting your day is the worst because of a pair of wet jeans just seems, well, rude. Surely you can image that others are having much, much worse days?

Slimthistime · 13/10/2017 11:59

Um, Dutch braids aside...

I couldn't work for someone who didn't tell me where were going and didn't stick to time. Three hours is a massive difference, it's not like he got held up due to something running a bit late?

Bunnyhipsdontliegrl · 13/10/2017 11:59

People are so mean to you. I understand you. My avocado toast was a bit too dry this morning and I realised I forgot my glass of water after I sat down so I had to stand up again. My life is so hard.

People who tbink they have real problem probably just don't know about my glass of water clutch my pearls

Seriously what is wrong with you. You must have an easy life. You had an hour to dry your jeans or pick another outfit and you obviously are not killing yourself at work 10 hours a day. Are you trying to piss people off? Or do you geniunely believe you are funny?

Slartybartfast · 13/10/2017 11:59

i am off sick and my dh is here and we are sniping

Lovemusic33 · 13/10/2017 11:59

I have toothe ache 😖
I have a male friend staying over tomorrow night and my house looks like a tip. I have pulled my carpet up as new carpet (for the stairs) was meant to coming today, now it's not coming until tomorrow so I have naked stairs and a messy house.
Still not really a bad day for Friday the 13th 😁

dangermouseisace · 13/10/2017 11:59

steeleypip's is great though. I hope you are not actually trapped anywhere now- do you need anyone to send help?!

NoMoreRoomOnTheBroom · 13/10/2017 12:01

I work long hours Wednesday and Thursday and stupidly decided to do a Towel wash on Tuesday. Completely forgot about it until today when I came to do another wash. Now the towels have that damp smell and I have to wash them againShock

worst fucking day of my life if you ask me.......Hmm

Im totally being sarcastic btw.....

Slimthistime · 13/10/2017 12:01

Slartybartfast · 13/10/2017 12:01

there are a lot of badtempered mumsnetters

cliffdiver · 13/10/2017 12:02

2/10 for effort.

Taratill · 13/10/2017 12:05

FFS I'm having a terrible day, my SN kid is kicking off and being violent.

My heart bleeds for you OP it really does.

20lbsToLose · 13/10/2017 12:07

I'm sure lots of people have found out they've got cancer today or that a loved one has died.

How insensitive of you.

SoupDragon · 13/10/2017 12:08

OP, you forgot to put "Lighthearted" in either your thread title. Some people are unable to grasp that unless you spell it out to them.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 13/10/2017 12:09

Oh dear, OP. Really, I appreciate you don't actually consider these happenings terrible tragedies, but I think you must have left your self-awareness in your holiday accommodation. How did you think people on here, many of them dealing with all sorts of crap, were going to respond to that title in combination with accounts of wet jeans and delayed lunches with your 'editor'?

Perhaps ask MNHQ to edit the title to something like 'Friday the 13th disasters (lighthearted)'.

SoupDragon · 13/10/2017 12:09

How insensitive of you.

I hope you never ever post anything insignificant on MN Hmm

Good lord, what is ŵrong with people??

Sirzy · 13/10/2017 12:12

Well it took me two hours to get ds dressed and to school meaning he was 40 minutes late. When we got to School his meltdown continued at I ended up lying on the floor in reception of the School.

Then when I finally got home I went to walk a prescription to the drs and it started passing down and I had no coat.

But even then there are a lot of people having MUCH worse days than me!

TheQueenSnortsAvocados · 13/10/2017 12:14

I just went to the loo and the door handle was wet. On the inside of the cubicle. Ugh.

Witchend · 13/10/2017 12:15

I suggest you buy a second pair of trousers. Then you can wear them if the first pair is wet.
