Or is anyone having a worse day?

Just back from overseas and my editor messaged me "meet up tomorrow?" I had had a lazy day Wednesday and was catching up on housework yesterday when he messaged and I said yes. Fab, days out with the boss are always great and he said it involves free drinks.

So yesterday....bloody yesterday I actually started getting ready. I put my jeans in the wash, put oil on my hair as it was a bit crispy from being on holiday dry and thought, if I don't get all the oil out in tonight's shower I have time to wash it again in the morning. Sorted. Jeans out the washer, threw them over the airer as dryer was already busy catching up with holiday stuff and washing in general.

Planned to meet my editor at noon, so get my jeans off the airer, still damp, it's gone 10am and I have to leave at 11am to walk to train station. No time to t throw them in the drier now so I'll have to suck it up. (He wouldn't tell me full details of where we are going, but I needed to dress v casual and I only have one pair of smart enough to leave the house in jeans)

I had planned to do Dutch braids, got one side perfect, other braid I just couldn't get to sit right so gave up and put in a ponytail. Pulled on damp jeans and the shirt I was hoping to wear to see a huge stain on shirt, grrrr.... easy to change my top but still another delay.

Change dirty shirt for clean one, but the new one seems too short with these jeans, needs vest underneath. I have loads of flesh coloured vests, and yup, they're still in the laundry I had done loads but not enough apparently

Find third option top, and finally ready to leave the house. I'm on my way to train station and check my phone. Editor messaged me to say "make it a bit later, see you at 3pm"

Oh well, it gives me time to finish my laundry but I've not seen my husband all week and now I won't be in when he gets home tonight.

I've just been for a smear, so...

PoppyPopcorn · 13/10/2017 12:17

Couldn't get my Dutch braids to sit right.

Catastrophe on a world scale. Wonder if the OP is always so shallow?

GinIsIn · 13/10/2017 12:17

I have a baby. Nothing in your post sounds like anything other than the average day to me.

iamUberA · 13/10/2017 12:17

I've had a morning from hell, my 9 year old dd has Sen and mental health problems, she didn't want to go to school today.
I won't describe what happens but i am with some new fresh bruises and we were late, I left her upset with a ta.
I had to rush to work as was then late.
She has an appointment later that she also hates so more fun later.

Hope your day improves OP

my day? by school drop off time I had battled for 5 hours with autistic twins and trying to get them and their sister ready for school. I was hit, punched, scratched, they got undressed quicker than I could get them dressed. a 2 litre bottle of carrot juice got thrown and exploded, covered the entire living room. one twins crying cos she couldn't stand the fact she had to wear different clothes for school, one twin pretty much trying to kill everyone cos he can cope with nothing at the moment. one overnight guest who suggests we medicate them and a 7 year old in tears cos shes so fed up. my husband, who is usually at work, was at home as he has to go out today so isn't at work. he has gone out with a black eye from being headbutted. the teacher ran and hid rather than talk to us and the flo tells me I'm exaggerating. I finally get home and spend two hours scrubbing carrot juice off everything whilst waiting for the phone to ring to tell me he has hurt someone. and guess what? I know there are people that have had a worse morning!! I wish I had a drier to dry my jeans

PoorYorick · 13/10/2017 12:19

I think you do need an editor.

Hullygully · 13/10/2017 12:21

I have never heard anything so awful in my whole life. Except my day. I got up and found I only had enough milk for one coffee whereas I like two.

AndInShortIWasAfraid · 13/10/2017 12:21

Just found out our unborn baby is higher risk for Downs, had to pay £300 that we don't have for the NIPT and have to wait a week for the results. The bath leaked and now we've got water dripping into the kitchen and a huge watermark across the ceiling, and despite steroids my hyperemesis hasn't fucked off and I've vomitted the half a weetabix I was able to eat.

musicform · 13/10/2017 12:24

are you stirring?

Mulberry72 · 13/10/2017 12:29

bigarse1 Flowers for you.

wonkylegs · 13/10/2017 12:32

Awful yeah can't beat that...
I actually had a good start to the day, my pain levels are pretty bearable today, my fingers on my right hand are a bit rubbish so using cutlery, brushing teeth and hair and getting dressed are a bit of a challenge and unfortunately the wriggly 18mth old still needs nappy changes as he somewhat unreasonably still wants to wee & poop so I just have to grit my teeth for those. I have a million things to do work and family wise but it's all a bit of an added challenge when my body doesn't co-operate. It's meds night tonight though so tomorrow should be a bit better.

iamUberA · 13/10/2017 12:34

pandora I thought you mean a crown on your head haha

problembottom · 13/10/2017 12:34

So to summarise your jeans didn't dry on time and your Dutch braid was wonky. Doesn't sound that bad OP if I'm honest...

SleepFreeZone · 13/10/2017 12:35

If that's a bad day for you then my god you've been very very lucky in life.

Maudlinmaud · 13/10/2017 12:36
