Or is anyone having a worse day?

Just back from overseas and my editor messaged me "meet up tomorrow?" I had had a lazy day Wednesday and was catching up on housework yesterday when he messaged and I said yes. Fab, days out with the boss are always great and he said it involves free drinks.

So yesterday....bloody yesterday I actually started getting ready. I put my jeans in the wash, put oil on my hair as it was a bit crispy from being on holiday dry and thought, if I don't get all the oil out in tonight's shower I have time to wash it again in the morning. Sorted. Jeans out the washer, threw them over the airer as dryer was already busy catching up with holiday stuff and washing in general.

Planned to meet my editor at noon, so get my jeans off the airer, still damp, it's gone 10am and I have to leave at 11am to walk to train station. No time to t throw them in the drier now so I'll have to suck it up. (He wouldn't tell me full details of where we are going, but I needed to dress v casual and I only have one pair of smart enough to leave the house in jeans)

I had planned to do Dutch braids, got one side perfect, other braid I just couldn't get to sit right so gave up and put in a ponytail. Pulled on damp jeans and the shirt I was hoping to wear to see a huge stain on shirt, grrrr.... easy to change my top but still another delay.

Change dirty shirt for clean one, but the new one seems too short with these jeans, needs vest underneath. I have loads of flesh coloured vests, and yup, they're still in the laundry I had done loads but not enough apparently

Find third option top, and finally ready to leave the house. I'm on my way to train station and check my phone. Editor messaged me to say "make it a bit later, see you at 3pm"

Oh well, it gives me time to finish my laundry but I've not seen my husband all week and now I won't be in when he gets home tonight.

Aibu is vicious today. My day just got worse. The delivery driver called me 'love'. I didn't care but know mnet hates that kind of thing Grin

PandorasXbox · 13/10/2017 13:17

pandora I thought you mean a crown on your head haha

Grin
PoorYorick · 13/10/2017 13:20

I thought Pandora meant a royal crown too...I thought she was taking the piss out of OP in a 'yeah, I know, it's awful, my diamond tiara just fell on the floor' way.

Took me about 15 minutes to realise she was talking about her teeth. I'm quick.

Mulberry72 · 13/10/2017 13:21

Captain well they say things happen in 3’s so you’ll be ok now Wink

cazisalittlenuts · 13/10/2017 13:25

Asda home delivery turned up HALF an hour fucking early today. My mother decided to fuck up my food cupboard system and now i have half a bag of cous cous spilt everywhere AND i somehow managed to kick a fucking huge tub of fat balls (for the birds) with my arthritis ridden foot that was already giving me fucking pain today.

NooNooHead1981 · 13/10/2017 13:25

I am trying to keep going today despite having a migraine, and applying for yet more jobs (can't count now, it's been about 3 months being out of work), while I worry about whether a potential employer will be kind and employ me eventually with an involuntary movement disorder and post concussion syndrome symptoms 2 years later.

I guess it isn't a bad day per se, more of a bad year in general. My DB died from cancer, I had an ectopic pregnancy, I lost my job. Putting on the wrong outfit seems a laugh in comparison!

It cheered me up though, OP. I do realise you were being lighthearted, but I guess there are people who are genuinely having bad days... I think me (and others are perhaps being too sensitive. It's Friday everyone... hurrah?!

Twoo · 13/10/2017 13:26

Yes ybvvvu. That's not a bad day, just a day lived in what sounds like a charmed life. Get a grip!!!

I'm disabled & unemployed; hours just to get out of bed, washed dressed. Every day is like this. Then chuck in a water leak, an ill pet dog, ailing parent, bills I don't have money for, a cracked window I can't afford to replace and a cold house I can't afford to heat. No dates or lunches or dinners out to look forward too.

To confirm, your day sounds like a lovely day in what appears to be a charmed life. Fancy swapping?

BillyDaveysDaughter · 13/10/2017 13:27

Blimey you think that's bad, you should see my long whiny thread in chat about my damp smelling washing. It irks me, I tell you.

Flowers to everyone suffering truly, truly tough times. Those of us with trivial annoyances are very lucky.

Twoo · 13/10/2017 13:28

cazisalittlenuts. Your post made me 😂 so much. Thank you for cheering me up.

NooNooHead1981 · 13/10/2017 13:31

Thank you BillyDaveys - same back to you.

I love that song BTW! Grin

BastardGoDarkly · 13/10/2017 13:31

Your update said you wanted sympathy and advice? For what?

multivac · 13/10/2017 13:33

No it didn't, Bastard; it said the opposite.

Kewcumber · 13/10/2017 13:37

Nothing wrong with first world problems, but this OP is not remotely funny.

No need for "(lighthearted)" but "(not very funny)" might have helped as a signpost.

And yes dealing with cancer diagnosis (mother), single parent to child with some SEN and run my own business with a client who went bust owing me a LOT of money would make just about any one of my days worse than this day of multiple garment changes, unruly hair and late lunch. And I don't think my days are generally worthy of a thread. Confused

BitOutOfPractice · 13/10/2017 13:38

A coffee pod exploded in my machine this morning covering half the kitchen in coffee grounds (1st world problem)
I forgot to order fabric conditioner in my shopping delivery so I had to go anyway (I got to drive my lovely new car so I didn't mind)
I've had to make a series of very stressful phone calls (but feel satisfied I'm sorting stuff out)
I'm missing having DP at home as he has a new job (but he has a new job)
The promised sunshine has not materialised (perfect day for a run then)
Couldn't find a nearby parking space when I dropped some stuff off at the charity shop (but I got about 1000 steps in for my FitBit as a result)
I had to go and sign some legal papers (but the solicitor said I looked fab and slim)

I'm a bit of a Pollyanna. So yeah, whatevs

FeralBeryl · 13/10/2017 13:39

Ah ffs, you know she meant it as lighthearted surely!

OP I woke up with 2 of the DCs crying inconsolably, one because she was the last to wake up Hmm
Another because she was so tired.

I've got raging PMT which is becoming so bad lately (with other symptoms) I think I may be perimenopausal.

'D'H is an absolute twat. I'm seriously considering leaving unless he bucks his ideas up.

We had the wrong bread for another DC packed lunch-further tears.

My gloss paint hasn't dried and I'll have loads of random children here later to keep away from it.

I have got late jobs this evening when I wanted an early night.

I'm channelling Brian Blessed with my chin hairs.

And best? My MIL is flying on her broomstick up the M1 as we speak, to spend a fun filled weekend with me. I say me because 'D' H has managed to book work all weekend.

Yes, I've got health problems too, am grieving, have financial issues, family problems, a child with additional needs and plenty more serious things, but this thread was not about any of those.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 13/10/2017 13:39

You're welcome NooNoo...you do? Not many know it! I'm a long-time fan, but sadly I think the latest albums aren't a patch on their original material. Dunno what hell he is thinking with recent lyrics.

I still would though. Smile

Kewcumber · 13/10/2017 13:40

to be fair you DID ask "or is anyone having a worse day?"

And now you know!

BastardGoDarkly · 13/10/2017 13:40

So it did MultiVac Confused

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 13/10/2017 13:40

Whoosh.....the sound of a Friday 13 thread going over the heads of mums net.
I got it nannred and I smiled. I understood it was a lighthearted thread about Friday 13th and you had planned ahead from yesterday.
Some of the replies are genuinely sad. Some seem to be on the ball with you and some are downright nasty. That's mumsnot for you I'm afraid.
My Friday 13th woes. Cooker click is wrong and I trusted it. Shoe lace snapped on my Doc Martins. Cat puwked on living room carpet.
Stay safe out there peeps.

BarbaraofSevillle · 13/10/2017 13:43

Ah ffs, you know she meant it as lighthearted surely

I'm not sure she did actually. As a PP commented, 'It doesn't read as light hearted, it doesn't read as funny and it doesn't read as ironic'.

Twoo · 13/10/2017 13:44

Stop digging OP. I've read you're further posts which say that you think replies to your post have been rude. I've not read any rude replies so you abu on that point too.

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 13/10/2017 13:52

@twoo iv red the full thread. I think some were rude. Ffs are you 12 stands out and arrr didums get over yaself or something. That's not how wed talk to people irl.

I notice op is very quiet now. Do you think we upset her.

multivac · 13/10/2017 13:54

I think it's more likely she's on her way to drinks with her editor at 3pm, Pricilla - presumably with dry jeans and perfect Dutch braids. Phew!

ReasonableLlama · 13/10/2017 13:56

It’s all relative. A hard day for you is an easy day for others.

I’ve been running late all day and split coffee and lunch over myself. It’s not the worst day ever but it’s worse than normal. And compared to others it’s a pretty good day. But it’s not a completion so I can only compare it to other days I’ve had.

Don’t know why you are getting so much stick for this post TBH.

minesapintofwine · 13/10/2017 13:57

twoo yes some have been rude.

billy I know it and I would too Grin. Saw them live last year awesome selfish boast and was hoping he would but he never noticed me Sad

They are local lads to me so omg such sentimental times for me.

Moving on...op? Op? Oh-peeeeeee........
