Rumours have been circulating about this disgusting man and his sleazy casting couch for years... He has offered a half-hearted apology, but seems rather smug about the fact that his family are supporting him.

AIBU to think his wife is misguided? What sort of example is she setting to her daughter? After all, this isn't a one-off - it is a pattern of serious abuse of women over decades.

I think is is really, really important to keep the focus on the wrongdoer and those who facilitated him, rather than on his family.

Um, the Republican president said, "when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything."

It's not a politcal issue though. Desperate as the Republicans are to make it one.

The reason there isn't more outrage is because it's been an open secret for years. It's like finding out Barry Manilow is gay.

You only have to look to the tragic lifestyles of Corey Feldman and Corey Haim to see how Hollywood chews people up and spit them back out again. I think people would be truly horrified by Corey Feldman if he ever did a tell all book. I read that Drew Barrymore said she was wandering around clubs drinking and doing drugs. She was 10. Sorry, off on a bit of a tangent there but I have heard loads of rumours of casting couches and it makes me feel sick.

I would say most people in HW knew, the rumours have been swirling for years. It just wasn't in anyone's interest to "come out" earlier when he was more powerful. Plenty of reporters knew about Tiger Woods sex addiction but sat on it.

If so, how are they allowed to get away with it? If it's to do with power and no-one felt they could speak out, how and why has it come to light now?

I just read that someone raised this issue with Weinstein in 1997 [shock
20 years ago.
I noticed he had been a guest on Chris Evans, twice! I spose his Agents want to get him popular over here.

I loved the two Coreys growing up, License to Drive and Lost Boys were my two favourite films.
Felt sick when first heard about abuse a while back now Sad they were so young.
I hope whoever did it gets flushed out soon, they need to pay for it. Sad

Krytens Well if you believe in the notion of "Harvey's girls" then those actresses would be complicit in the cover up as they want to protect their careers. He is loosing money & control now so not as untouchable as before. Although there is the rumour his brother threw him under the bus.

She was just saying everyone already knew Barry Manilow was gay, so it wasn't a surprise when he came out. I'm not getting how that's offensive.

actually it was Corey Haim who was raped by the A list star, according to Feldman. But Feldman said he was abused too. Sad

Apparently some of the people who worked for him used to try and keep actresses out of his way because they knew what he was like. So they knew exactly what he was doing under their noses, knew it was wrong, but still didn't actually say anything. I suppose if you are a young person and acting is all you want to do, maybe you think at the time it's a price worth paying, considering he had the power to make sure you never get any work as an actress again.

raisedby makes you think, doesn't it. I've been trying to think of it from their point of view today.
If you think about it, if you're really young, just starting out in acting, and came across a bigshot bigwig, you'd be told to shush/ no-one would ever believe you over him or if they did it wouldn't go anywhere as nobody would do anything about it.
It's sickening.

Lisa Bloom only stood down after Trump spoke out. She was the lawyer representing the women Trump was accused of violating.

I'm no fan of Trump but he was correct to call out Lisa Bloom and the hypocrisy of Hollywood. The news here last night had a 'quote' saying that Trump had known about this for years. It's really is a bad day when President Trump is the only person sticking up for women. This story has broken over Columbus Day weekend. He has rapped someone and they are refusing to accept a pay off or Obamas daughter saw something she didn't like is my guess.

I had to do some work in LA and it's so fake with a totally screwed up value system. Having dinner I had multiple men tell me that they would consider doing me if I lost 10lbs. I thought they were joking but nope they were deadly serious and thought they were doing me a favor by telling me. If that is what is going on with little old me goodness what is going on behind closed doors where women are looking to build their careers.
