Rumours have been circulating about this disgusting man and his sleazy casting couch for years... He has offered a half-hearted apology, but seems rather smug about the fact that his family are supporting him.

AIBU to think his wife is misguided? What sort of example is she setting to her daughter? After all, this isn't a one-off - it is a pattern of serious abuse of women over decades.

Rose Mcgowan and Asia Argento are definitely Shock on Twitter.
Good on them! Expose the whole lot, it's stomach churning.

CaveMum
Great article.
How sad for Marilyn.

Itsanicehotel · 11/10/2017 17:39

The hypocrisy of people like Damon and Clooney is galling. Of course they knew what he was like and they will have known HW was considerably more than "a dog" (which I take to mean just everyday harassment). They are probably two of the most well connected people in the US. They have worked for years with the man. Clooney says he's been to dinner with him. So bearing in mind Clooney seems the first to police wrongs and injustices which come to his attention, why did he only speak out AFTER HW was revealed to be a persistent abuser who committed vile assaults on countless women over a long period of time?

And yay agree HW now full of remorse and wanting to learn new behaviour in rehab etc. He's not an addict he's a rapist ffs. Nauseating in the extreme. No one comes out well in this.

DarthMaiden · 11/10/2017 17:48

@Itsanicehotel

Well they are all getting called out by Rose McGowan in particular.

Darth thanks for that. Bloody good on Rose McGowan.

gluteustothemaximus · 11/10/2017 18:04

I remember Rose McGowan last year talking about rape under the hashtag of #whywomendontreport

So this is who she was referring to.

I too hope this opens up the floodgates. We are tired of being treated like this by misogynistic womanisers.

MissionItsPossible · 11/10/2017 18:50

I seem to remember a flood of negative articles about Rose McGowan a year ago or so ago. I'm not a fan as I've never seen her in anything but Scream but did not know about what gluteus posted so it's probably not a coincidence with this new light shed.

MissEliza · 11/10/2017 19:16

Yes I find the hypocrisy of Clooney, Damon and Affleck appalling. They love commenting on political causes yet here was something going under their nose and they did nothing to stand up to this shithole. They are some of the biggest stars in Hollywood. They really didn't have to hang out with this guy. Yet they did.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 11/10/2017 19:31

I think we shall be hearing about a lot more cases not just with HW but with other prominent Hollywood powerful men

Once people feel that can speak out and others will support and they have nothing to fear or be ashamed of many will

And totally agree the only person guilty for his crimes is HW it is not for his victims to correct his behaviour but the claim by many that they were not aware is so obviously disingenuous they have damages their own reputation

HadronCollider · 11/10/2017 20:08

What's good about this case - if anything can be called good - is that for I think the first time, other people who gained through saying nothing are being publically called out and being made to feel tawdry by association
(I am not talking about victims like GP, but others - Damon for e.g who ((it is rumoured, although not substantiated AFAIK)) attempted to kill an expose about HW as well as company execs, etc etc (I hope that is not true...yuck). This is good, as it may cause others in such situations to think twice about saying nothing for fear of a future backlash when it eventually all comes out in the wash. Hopefully this signals the beginning of the end for the casting couch culture.

southeastdweller · 11/10/2017 20:23

And totally agree the only person guilty for his crimes is HW it is not for his victims to correct his behaviour but the claim by many that they were not aware is so obviously disingenuous they have damages their own reputation

People like Affleck, Clooney, Damon, Judi Dench and so on will be fine. Look at what happened to Mel Gibson - Hollywood pariah for all of five minutes.

I'm curious to why Michelle Williams has said nothing about it so far. HW marketed two of her most successful films, My Week with Marilyn and Blue Valentine.

WomanWithAltitude · 11/10/2017 20:24

It's just horrifying. Good for Rose McGowan for speaking up.

UnicornsAreEverywhere · 11/10/2017 20:29

Ben Aflec has now apologised for groping an actresses breast.

There's alot more to come.

papayasareyum · 11/10/2017 20:31

Some actresses will remain silent because they weren’t targeted so nothing to say or because they entered into consensual stuff, so feel they have no right to say anything.

papayasareyum · 11/10/2017 20:32

And yes, I agree. The floodgates are open. I’m sure other A list stars will be outed as sexual predators in the days and week to come.

EachandEveryone · 11/10/2017 20:35

Anyone seen skynews with Kristen Scott Thomas being interviewed saying she didnt have a clue? Shes with uber feminist Cherry Jones as they are promoting their new film. Cherry looks on politely. I desparately wanted to hear her opinion,

UnicornsAreEverywhere · 11/10/2017 20:38

Rose McGowan is going for it on twitter.

CaveMum · 11/10/2017 20:50

Cara Delevingne has just put out this statement

Harvey Weinstein
MCBeatsandGrindah · 11/10/2017 20:56

Good on Cara. It's one thing someone like Angelina Jolie speaking out, who has money and career success and contacts etc - she isn't likely to suffer, but Cara is younger and not that well established as an actress (although she has probably made a fair bit from modelling).

ZooeyAndFranny · 11/10/2017 20:57

Fluffybrain

Gwyneth said Affleck's ideal was a woman in a bikini holding a beer in each hand.

Not a hooker.

user1497863568 · 11/10/2017 20:59

I was molested when I was eight years old by a young man legally of age. My parents pressed charges. Nothing happened. Dad found out years later that the man’s father was a notorious well-off pedophile who would simply up and move his family, with the assistance of others, every time their reputation became known within a community. The young man apparently went on to do it many times before he received a slap on the wrist sentence for it. That revelation has affected me more than the molestation did at the time. The mother of the children whose house I was playing at when he lured me away from them committed suicide a few years later . Sad

nauticant · 11/10/2017 21:01

Going back to earlier, I wrote that Weinstein will be untouchable for most (and possibly all) of his assaults in the US because of statutes of limitations in various states. However, there are accounts coming out of assaults in other places, for example in London. As far as I'm aware there is no statute of limitations for sexual assault in the UK. That could be an area of real vulnerability for him.

mikado1 · 11/10/2017 21:06

I thought Gwyneth said a blonde under each arm and a beer in each hand..

HadronCollider · 11/10/2017 21:09

Just read Cara's statement. I feel sick.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 11/10/2017 21:10

One of the many awful things coming out of this whole thing, is that HW's assistants/staff were knew this was going on and helped him, by encouraging the women to go to his room. As well as Cara's statement, I saw a young model on TV today, who said exactly the same thing- the staff basically got her in his room and then left, despite her asking them not to as she felt very uncomfortable.
This makes me so so fucking angry. They should be named and shamed too.
