In the super market today and heard a mum shout "beige" to her daughter...no joke! At first I thought I had misheard Paige...but no, definitely beige.

Got me thinking... what are the worst names you have come across?

I’ve taught a Beyoncé. What shoes to fill!

Ladyvird135 · 02/10/2017 19:06

These threads are awful. I work at a very multicultural school with some names that would definitely get sneered at. But they all have some kind of cultural history behind them and they're all lovely children. My name is apparently chavvy and awful. But I've got on in life.

I have a laugh when I have a look at the baby names section on here, as so many are posh and awful, IMHO. But then the trick is, you keep your thoughts to yourself if they're not nice.

Xenon 🙄

StoatInACoat · 02/10/2017 19:10

Harley-David (in broad West Yorkshire accent)

Kaitland (in thick Black Country accent, and yes it's definitely how they spelt it as I saw it on a party invitation)

Both left me a bit Hmm

TheWeeWitch · 02/10/2017 19:11

Nevaeh - it’s “Heaven backwards” dontcha know?!

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/10/2017 19:11

Just responding to the original op - I know of a Beige, surely it must be the same one?

A dreadful name.

ProfessorCat · 02/10/2017 19:13

Jayden.

MyGuideJools · 02/10/2017 19:15

I know twins: with this exact spelling....

Armarni-Rose & Koko-chanel

Beautiful little girls but omgShock

Disabrie22 · 02/10/2017 19:29

I love Oceane - isn’t it French? The pronouciation doesn’t sound like it reads?

Disabrie22 · 02/10/2017 19:29

I also remember reading a lovely book as a child called “Comfort Herself” which was about an African girl.

PodgeBod · 02/10/2017 19:40

One of the women from Teen Mom 2 has just revealed her newest babies name as Lux. Her cast mates have used names like Bentley, Jaxie, Maverick, Ensley, Novalee, my personal favourite Kaiser...
Not to my taste but all very sweet kids.

LilaBard · 02/10/2017 19:47

There are twins bear my called Kayla and (I shit you not) Jayla. Kayla and Jayla.
Tops my previous worst name which was a boy called Kale.

ArbitraryName · 02/10/2017 19:50

As Star Wars names, obi-wan is not so bad. The waitress could have had it a lot worse.

midnightmisssuki · 02/10/2017 20:00

My mum had a fired who tries for years and years to get pregnant - after many many many years, they were ready to give up and - low and behold, they naturally conceived twins. The named them Happy and Lucky - because that's how they felt! Grin

My daughter has a fairly unusual name and certainly an unusual middle name (greek) - each to their own!

TellMeIAmBonkers · 02/10/2017 20:03

I know it gets shredded on here all the time but I love the name Oakley for a girl. I think it's really pretty!

LilaBard · 02/10/2017 20:04

I've also just remembered a Kennerdeigh, allegedly pronounced Kennedy, who unsurprisingly goes by Ken.

Everyone likes different names and one person's boring is another person's favourite. I really wanted to call dd Lorelei but dh really doesn't like it.

I do think Hmm at some of the names of dcs that I've heard. There used to be a Shorn in dd's class and a Boo (that was her actual name not a nickname) and I went to school with a Blue (great girl but she was teased about her name). Some names might be cute for young children but not so much for 20 somethings trying to get a job.

It's the ridiculous "unique" spellings that I really don't like. I went to school with an Emerleigh (Emily) and a there's a Mckalya (Micheala) at my dc's school. I have a less common spelling of a common name and it's a pita having to spell it all the time.

Chocolatechops84 · 02/10/2017 20:28

Dipsy is the strangest I've heard lately

SuzukiLi · 02/10/2017 20:35

There was a woman at baby group who introduced her baby, Hastings.
My friend piped up "What like that battle?!"

Dustbunny1900 · 02/10/2017 20:40

Virginia is the worst /weirdest name you've ever heard?? Confused

MissionItsPossible · 02/10/2017 20:43

I met someone whose name was Ronald and his surname was McDonald!

NewBrian · 02/10/2017 20:48

DS has a purple in his glass. My boyfriend has a relative called Urkin, terrible name!

shooeghMcFee · 02/10/2017 20:51

My grandmother used to work with a woman called Maud Ward
