Gutted. Thought this was going to be some crazy wedding thread with a gherkin menu

Lottey90 · 27/09/2017 16:39

I thought it was a gherkin themed wedding Sad

PotteringAlong · 27/09/2017 16:40

searcysatthegherkin.co.uk/events/

£10,000 plus VAT according to this..,

TurnipCake · 27/09/2017 16:40

6K for venue hire according to a couple of places, which isn't bad considering it's a London landmark

I did think this was going to be about pickled gherkins and now I'm dying for one

thecakefairy · 27/09/2017 16:40

My first thought was 'yummy, I love gherkins'
My second thought was I hope no one ever invites me to a gherkin wedding as I'd be petrified of being 39 floors up!

maddiemookins16mum · 27/09/2017 16:40

I was hoping there would be mini jars of gherkins as favours, I'm so disappointed.

weeblueberry · 27/09/2017 16:41

So sad this isn't about pickles...

Dahlietta · 27/09/2017 16:51

Doesn't sound that romantic, does it? "You are invited to a Gherkin wedding." I'd also be disappointed at the lack of pickles.

TiramisuQueenoftheFaeries · 27/09/2017 16:53

I sort of think a gherkin-themed wedding at the Gherkin would be awesome. You could have sweet churro ones as an alternative to savoury, and the view would be immense.

Me too, well disappointed with this thread now! Grin
How epic would that be? You could have gherkin themed cocktails, a giant gherkin wedding cake, green table decorations......... Grin

CuppaSarah · 27/09/2017 16:56

I was hoping someone was marrying two gherkins. Like sticking googly eyes on them and crocheting a little wedding dress and suit for them. Maybe a small broccoli floret for a bouquet.

Then doing a fancy photoshoot.

Loopytiles · 27/09/2017 16:57

Thought this would be a wedding food AIBU!

I associate the gherkin with alan sugar, which is not romantic.

Me too.. so disappointed

abbsisspartacus · 27/09/2017 16:58

My son would love a gerkin wedding

Thingsiseeinmybathroom · 27/09/2017 16:58

Although a little relieved that even gherkins aren't getting married before me... 😂

Longdistance · 27/09/2017 16:59

Will someone please start a Fred about pickles, please...

Winteriscomingneedmorewood · 27/09/2017 16:59

Was thinking green wedding dress thread at the very least. .

TiramisuQueenoftheFaeries · 27/09/2017 16:59

Clearly OP, if you end up hiring the Gherkin, you need to really commit to the theme. Your wedding colours are green, green, and vinegar.

Also, can I come?

hardhatfirmlyon · 27/09/2017 17:01

So with the venue hire plus minimum spend on food that's £21,000 - or £16200 if you just want it for part of the day.

Yep, made me want to eat gherkins too, or more specifically cornichons.

What do you reckon OP, you going for it?

JoJoSM2 · 27/09/2017 17:02

Getting married in an office block? Hmm

LonginesPrime · 27/09/2017 17:02

Won't there be loads of office workers getting in the way of your photos, though?

HanutaQueen · 27/09/2017 17:03

Searcy's at the Gherkin is brilliant. Was there for my birthday last year. I'd definitely consider it as a wedding venue - especially if it's not December and therefore super cloudy which kind of destroys the view!
