DH and I spent our wedding anniversary in a v expensive boutique hotel. I took the body lotion and soap home as I usually would do (sad, but I get v excited about these things!)Yesterday we received a letter from the hotel asking for us to send the 2 items back for the future enjoyment of guests!!! Talk about humiliation! Looking forward to MNetters views

Kimi

They have been named and shamed as Strattons in Swaffham, Norfolk.

Aloha · 05/04/2007 11:24

I don't agree at all that is it unhygienic! And I think big refillable bottles are nicer than wasteful miniatures. HOWEVER, charging someone £250 and then writing mean letters afterwards is dreadfu.

littlemissbossy · 05/04/2007 11:25

oh things like this so wind up... anyone got any empty plastic bottles to send to this hotel ??

JanH · 05/04/2007 11:25

Off you go, Carmenere!!!

I used to work for a large worldwide hotel chain pre DS and I can tell you taht the cost of the room to the hotel was probably about £8, so thats £242 profit! Thats factoring in energy, staff, laundry and toiletrie costs.. Hotels get massive discounts on posh toiletries so to send you this letter is appalling, to be honest it probably cost them more in staff time, paper and postage than the cost of the products!
My hotel only ever used to send letters like this to people when they had totally trashed a room and then that was only to recoup the cost of specialist cleaners.
Im appauled at their lack of customer service. If I was you I'd ignore the letter they cant prove you took anything and if they persue it more then they are even more foolish than I thought.

zippitippitoes · 05/04/2007 11:28

when do you refill them though?

after every visit?

and do you keep the stuff inside them?

undertheduvet · 05/04/2007 11:30

sorry about some of the spelling, been up all night with sick DS

Yes, I assume they are refilled after every vist and the stuff inside is kept. Why wouldn't it be? It doesn't get dirty inside the bottle!

SherlockLGJ · 05/04/2007 11:32

Whether it is £8 pound or £80 pound I think the letter was most unprofessional.

hermykne · 05/04/2007 11:33

i dont believe op at all. i have stayed in many a top hotel and never received anything despite having accidentally taken lovely wooden hangars that dhs jkts were on.

Cappuccino · 05/04/2007 11:33

I just feel that they should factor in a margin of error for these things and not embarass their clients.

hunkermunker · 05/04/2007 11:37

hermykne, you think the hotel never sent a letter?

SherlockLGJ · 05/04/2007 11:37

Right I really must go and finish tidying the house.

Bloody MN, bloody thread.

Cappuccino · 05/04/2007 11:37

oh okay

I like being isolated anyway

I don't want anyone to think I'm part of this shower

undertheduvet · 05/04/2007 11:37

ENTp shockingly it really is around that amount. If the hotel is an independent it may be a bit more than that but not much.

SherlockLGJ · 05/04/2007 11:38

Shower .........................Soap very good Cappo.

littlemissbossy · 05/04/2007 11:38

I've got an empty fairy liquid bottle in my recyling - m2s would you like me to send it to them, I'll put soap in - OMG how childish am I LOL
