Continued from original post...

Fuckinglovecarbs well if that's the case, that's the danger of posting and having things taken out of context. I didn't pick up it was tongue in cheek, so others may not.

spiney · 03/09/2017 13:35

I don't always love Mumsnet. But I've seen a complete bitch fest on insta this morning.

Suddenly those insta accounts which I follow and love seem like mini kingdoms in which no dissent is allowed. Mother Pukka aside - she has opened a discussion.

Believe me the bitchiness on this thread is a drop compared to the super nasty insta comments.

Sorry Susie don't have a nanny just a bit useless and on a screen lots today.

ElspethFlashman · 03/09/2017 13:37

I don't really get why mother pukka kept telling us she gets called awful things, I've been called worse at my day job, and I'm sure her rewards far outstrip mine

Well I'm sure it's shit being called a cunt regardless tbh. I'm a nurse and have been called names, spat at, kicked in the stomach....lots of things over the years. All for shit pay, and I have to keep wiping their arses afterwards as if nothing happened. But I don't think it's less shit for someone else to be called a cunt.

sugaraddict81 · 03/09/2017 13:38

Just to confirm that I haven't missed the point - although this thread has gone off point about 1000 times - I just don't really care enough to get so wound up and upset about it.

If someone shows me something on instagram whether it's a holiday resort or an eye mask it's up to me whether I buy it or not, if it's something I need I might think oh that looks cool and I'll have a look at some reviews, if it's something I'm never going to need I scroll past. I don't lie awake at night condemning someone I've never met for making me go out and buy something that I ended up disappointed in.

And no the comment about children not being cute wasn't tongue in cheek that's a cop out.

DressedInBinBags · 03/09/2017 13:40

Elspeth you are right. No one should be called a cunt. I've been subject to a lot of the things you mention, the joys of working with the public!

Mumsytomy · 03/09/2017 13:42

Sugar - the point of the thread is 'Am I being Unreasonable to be fed up of instamums' so it has not gone off topic at all. People can discuss that if they wish.

DoomGloomAndKaboom · 03/09/2017 13:43

Day3Blues I hope your baby is better soon, and its not anything serious

I don't agree with Susie's nanny comment (it's Sunday, partners are around, some of us have older children, some who don't have partners are quite happy to let the tv babysit)

BUT BUT BUT

this thread has hit many people's raw nerves, and I think Susie's original point was sticking up for other instamums in the face of some bitchy comments, and fgs if you want to engage with bitchy comments, I'll say it again

follow
drag
queens

omg if people think mners and insta followers are bitchy, we all have so much to learn......

spiney · 03/09/2017 13:44

Sugar - who lies awake condemning people?

BabychamSocialist · 03/09/2017 13:49

I know she's not really an 'insta mum' but I can't abide that woman who's married to him out of McFly. The way she goes on about her kids you'd think nobody had ever given birth before!

wannabestressfree · 03/09/2017 13:52

@ElspethFlashman I agree. I am a teacher and had a young lady excluded for calling me a cunt. It's a horrible thing to say to someone.
All I will say is when you rattle someone's cage and hit a nerve they say things they don't mean.
I post a lot. I have no nanny. I have three boys and live in an adapted housing association house due to my illness. I work full time.
All of this she is aware of.
So I wouldn't bite tbh.

langkaw · 03/09/2017 13:52

@sugaraddict81 sorry but it does sound like you've missed the point. We are not condemning anyone for forcing us to buy stuff we don't like. I'm not sure why you think that.

langkaw · 03/09/2017 13:53

@Day3Blues good post. I agree with what you said. I hope your kid feels better soon.

Mumsytomy · 03/09/2017 13:54

I've been called fat whore, cunt, fat slut this week by the mentally ill young person I care for. It's a daily thing.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/09/2017 14:02

Mumsytom I made a comment on the first thread saying I liked Clemmie Telford and that her two boys are really gorgeous, the post underneath was a bit 'oh really?' in tone but I didn't take any notice.

JuniUmiZoomi · 03/09/2017 14:04

I thought the post about CT's kids being 'oh really' was implying the poster's kids were cuter in a tongue in cheek way....?

I wonder if some of this is just people not getting the MN tone?

Call me a nasty old cynic but I'm half wondering if all the upset & hysteria is partly to feed the drama/generate clicks etc? Why are they so bothered?!

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/09/2017 14:04

'gorgeous' as in lovely, funny personalities, I hasten to add.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/09/2017 14:06

I thought the post about CT's kids being 'oh really' was implying the poster's kids were cuter in a tongue in cheek way....? yes , that's it.

Mumsytomy · 03/09/2017 14:07

That's very true, I can see it being 'oh really' or 'oh really' have to admit I did see it as a negative slur at first. Sorry.

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 03/09/2017 14:08

The nanny comment was just dumb and has undermined her point. It's much faster to dip in and out of here than dick around on insta stories all day demonstrating your American accent or whatever she was doing today.

NotACleverName · 03/09/2017 14:09

I had a look at the comments on Susie's post... it's one big circle jerk of sycophancy.

FuckingLoveCarbs · 03/09/2017 14:10

sugar yes you have entirely missed the point. HTH.

alexinwonderland · 03/09/2017 14:13

Which insta account is the one with 12 kids?!

langkaw · 03/09/2017 14:16

The only girl has just posted a story saying she has read the thread and it's not that bad. Is this damage limitation? Or admitting she genuinely shouldn't have waded in on the bandwagon of labelling is toxic dicks?

There are however some very good comments under her posts that she has responded to quite well I thought.

langkaw · 03/09/2017 14:21

@NotACleverName I've just read the comments too. Who are these people who call people they don't know amazing?? It's far more dysfunctional than hate following irritating smug arses I think. I find it extraordinary. I've never met anyone who does that in real life. It's like they belong to a different species. Hero worship is just weird when it's a mum you don't know. On the internet. Posting pics.

Waitinforaflamin · 03/09/2017 14:24

langkaw I don't think its damage limitation - she seems genuine well as geniune as social media can be. She has posted quite candidly about her life and ups and downs (esp with her son) and I think is one who tries to get it right around all these issues (kids, freebies, ads etc)
