To be fed up of Instamums

Hmmmmx100 · 25/08/2017 22:56

I followed a few of the more well-known Instamums but got weary of the constant daily barrage of brand endorsements. I can't relate to people on £100k a year in Farrow & Ball houses. I just can't. So I had to unfollow em all, every one. AIBU to feel a bit miffed that these people are using the idea of sisterhood to make money? They're not our friends, they're just there to sell us stuff that we probably don't need anyway.

Have to say respect to Badmotherpukka for coming on to the thread. 🙌🏼

Bathinginthedark · 02/09/2017 22:15

Can't believe one instamum hasn't been mentioned yet - LoKPT who over the last 18 months has changed drastically as soon as she got popular and started getting everything free

Mothervulva · 02/09/2017 22:15

Ok, googled him, I recognise him. Followed Suze to see what she had to say, she's jolly cross that's fo sho. Unfollowed her as she seems to be taking herself VERY seriously. I'm going to keep pukka woman (hi). Far more fun.

langkaw · 02/09/2017 22:15

Pukka: are you going to 'take up' the offer from mr Ohio? Being a mummy blagger and all that? Please do it. Your mum could take her slippers.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/09/2017 22:17

I agree.

Badmotherpukka · 02/09/2017 22:18

Only if 'Virgin' (oh the irony) sponsor our flights. And Durex, perhaps.

Runningyogabooze · 02/09/2017 22:19

lmarie uok hun?

MainFlamingo · 02/09/2017 22:20

Who is LoKPT, Bathing?

langkaw · 02/09/2017 22:21

Pukka: And I'm assuming that you'll take a responsible approach to letting us know that durex have sponsored your maternal ménage? Rather than riding in on a freebie and being all gloaty?

Bathinginthedark · 02/09/2017 22:21

Lifeofkimplustwo

BubbleAnimal · 02/09/2017 22:22

Pukka, you should let MOD know that mumsnet is great for constipation advice 😂

MainFlamingo · 02/09/2017 22:23

Thanks, Bathing! I've never come across her before, just having a look at her Instagram

CryingMessFFS · 02/09/2017 22:24

I cringed so hard at Susie's rants, she can't have read the thread properly. If you can't take the criticism you should not put yourself out there. Respect for Motherpukka for responding here though.

Badmotherpukka · 02/09/2017 22:25

I won't do it unless my mum takes her slippers off. And then there's my skanky manky titty to wipe down. But, yes, I will #ad. But coming back to the main point, opinion needs to be allowed in; bullying isn't ok; and no more slipping a Walls sausage casually into a post without #ad. And also it's an important one - no one has to like everyone. That would be Truman Show creepy

langkaw · 02/09/2017 22:26

I think this thread is going to reach its limits sooon. Can we start another one? I need it in my life.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 02/09/2017 22:26

Ooh where are the rants? Did I miss them?

allaboardtheallergybus · 02/09/2017 22:27

agreed, can BadMotherPukka start one it would be funnier and we can openly discuss her skanky manky tittie

FuckingLoveCarbs · 02/09/2017 22:29

The problem is that some people's definition of bullying is merely someone expressing an opinion which isn't adoration.

Susie3Milo · 02/09/2017 22:30

Hello! Susie here (susiejverrill)
Thought I'd pop on, seeing as I'd been skulking, reading (and obviously, Insta-storying) this whole thread.
I think my piss got a little bit boiled on behalf of some of the other women and while I'm happy to take any criticism based around me (I really probably do do the whole 'not to be judgemental but HERE'S ME BEING JUDGEMENTAL' 😂), I just felt this thread got very bitchy very quickly.
From my point of view, as an ex journo and ex social media editor, this line of work came naturally. I wanted to talk about motherhood, let others know what made my life easier and feel like I was part of a community. I completely understand if someone has a page which is all promotion and no 'reality' then it can get really bloody boring really quickly and the balance needs to be struck. But I'd also like to stress most of us do it with the best of intentions and actually, just wang on about stuff on insta stories because we too need an outlet/to chinwag with another knackered mum.
I'm certainly not taking myself too seriously; I just think if you're going to pick specific people out and discuss what's wrong with them, you're going to have a response to that. Tonight's insta stories from myself were exactly that.
Lastly, I appareciate many people might find Mumsnet a wonderful source of advice and community, it's just not for me and I've always found it to be more negative than constructive. We're all different. Hope you all have fantastic weekends with minimal avocado on your shirts.

instanonsista · 02/09/2017 22:30

It's so unfair to put this on mums too, a lot of interior/lifestyle accounts are the same.

Mothervulva · 02/09/2017 22:31

Today 22:26 langkaw

I think this thread is going to reach its limits sooon. Can we start another one? I need it in my life.

Agree, my DH is away this weekend leaving me with two toddlers and it's given me life.

Badmotherpukka · 02/09/2017 22:31

I'll leave now. I know I've ruined the party. Quick hello to my old colleagues at Mumsnet and obviously to the Daily Mail who will be pitting us all against each other on Monday.

BubbleAnimal · 02/09/2017 22:32

But Susie, you weren't criticised here. And no one here called Mod lazy? So had you read the thread fully before you ranted? Or is your post here a little more chilled because actually you've now taken the time to read it a little more and calmer?

Susie3Milo · 02/09/2017 22:33

............ I was going to be truthful and say 'Waitrose pasta' but I knew I'd get torn to shreds so....

BubbleAnimal · 02/09/2017 22:33
