To be fed up of Instamums

Hmmmmx100 · 25/08/2017 22:56

I followed a few of the more well-known Instamums but got weary of the constant daily barrage of brand endorsements. I can't relate to people on £100k a year in Farrow & Ball houses. I just can't. So I had to unfollow em all, every one. AIBU to feel a bit miffed that these people are using the idea of sisterhood to make money? They're not our friends, they're just there to sell us stuff that we probably don't need anyway.

@BlueIsYou I did apologise. I had children young. What I meant was having children and seemingly being a brilliant sahm seems her job. And good luck to her. But she would have been very young to have twins.
Meh I know what I mean.

Mumsytomy · 02/09/2017 21:01

In fact in terms of her work she was spoken of highly and never referred to as lazy, it was far more about her freebies, ads and account use.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 02/09/2017 21:01

sandy I remember wannabe's ds's struggles when he was younger, they both went through such a difficult time .

She was brilliant and so calm, I really admire her. Christ, I'd have completely caved with what she went though.

finks100 · 02/09/2017 21:03

I don't think this thread is a cesspit of nastiness. The main message I am getting is that people like seeing the families featured, although they would like them to show some 'unperfect' images. People like the families and like following them but just get a bit sad when it becomes fully selling rather than the element that made the want to follow them in the first place...nice pictures that make them smile.
The main conversation on here is about the balance of images with selling and how you get that right. If I was a instamum I would be reading this with interest, it's market research that you don't have to pay for.
There has been positive promotion of some instamums and Some sharing of people worth following.
Really surprised that Susie hasn't read it properly....she got loads of support and had seemed to be getting the balance right! Sadly her insta story didn't match the impression that most people seemed to have of her!

FuckingLoveCarbs · 02/09/2017 21:03

I do remember being a bit Hmm about Susie when she made some snide remark about the sorts of feminists who ruin it for everyone else or some such thing.

I imagined she would probably class me as just that type of feminist #nothefuninstagramkind

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 02/09/2017 21:04

Sorry wannabe just saw you post, didn't mean to speak about you as if you weren't there Blush

acoupleofdaysago · 02/09/2017 21:05

Susie is somewhat over-invested in this thread. Grin

langkaw · 02/09/2017 21:05

Oh jeeez susie!! I wish you would read the whole thread instead of getting defensive and dismissive. It's actually a very insightful discussion not just a load of old vipers with their claws out. Put the middle finger down and read the thread properly.

Discussion can entail criticism you know and that really is ok.

Waitinforaflamin · 02/09/2017 21:06

I'll admit - I came on here on the back of Susie's Insta stories waves hi there Susie I love her, wont lie. She is honest and bloody funny and good at doing shrinking penis noises....

A lot of the instamums I like, the original ones who have their own shit going on. We know they are friends but they don't flaunt in our faces and honestly if they want to flog stuff then all good, I just scroll by.

What I do hate though is the new ones who almost every week post pictures and stories of them with the more famous instamums - oh how wonderful am I, I'm at a party with X Y and Z... Its all incestuous, and really doesnt bring anything new to the platform. I dont care if you are at the same event as a million other instamums, if I follow you I'm interested to know about your opinion and your view on things - not just pictures of you getting free drinks with more famous insta personalities.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/09/2017 21:07

Which one is Susie Verill?

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/09/2017 21:08

Never mind, I've found it

acoupleofdaysago · 02/09/2017 21:09

She has totally missed the fucking point. Confirmation bias at its finest there.

FuckingLoveCarbs · 02/09/2017 21:09

She's Greg Rutherford's girlfriend though evidently it's highly offensive to call her that.

She does this thing where she calls out stupid daily mail comments and I think she's probably trying to do the same here but the difference is that this thread is actually valid discussion, not poorly spelled insults.

finks100 · 02/09/2017 21:09

Greg Rutherford's girlfriend ...but she doesn't seem to want to be known as that!

PforPhoebeHforhoebe · 02/09/2017 21:14

FOD if you are reading this please stop pulling these faces. It's not sexy or funny ... you just look permanently constipated. Thank you ...

PforPhoebeHforhoebe · 02/09/2017 21:14

How do I find mum of 8 pls ?

Fairylea · 02/09/2017 21:15

Why is it highly offensive to describe someone as "the girlfriend of..." if you don't know who they are and you know who the partner / boyfriend is? Confused That's just what people do. Maybe she should just start calling herself by her first name like "Cheryl" since we are all supposed to know who she is. I had never heard of her until this thread.

langkaw · 02/09/2017 21:17

I think FOD's doing damage limitation. 'I must remember to keep it light and funny! I must get back to the real meaning of ad free parenting! Get on the floor quick kiddo...I don't care if you don't want to'

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/09/2017 21:18

Oh dear, Susie is really annoyed isn't she?

If she's still reading this:

U OK, HUN? Grin

langkaw · 02/09/2017 21:19

FODs face in that contortion is really him wailing 'they called me the Richard Madeley of instadads!'

TheLegendOfBeans · 02/09/2017 21:21

I didn't know who Suzie Verrill was before this thread and I've never watched an Instastory in full before.

Suzie seems completely normal and grounded. The Tesco pasta mention confirms that. But she's undoubtedly got the wrong end of the stick about this thread.

Her wee baby is so sweet. No vitriol around the baby Suzie!

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 02/09/2017 21:21

Me either.... no idea who she is/was

BubbleAnimal · 02/09/2017 21:21

I admit the way he's started that recent post made me think Ad straight away, so it's obviously second nature way of him to write now. I think that's part of it though - it's so hard to differentiate between ads and real life. I like Instagram for real life. If I wanted ads or fake I'd watch coronation Street.

FuckingLoveCarbs · 02/09/2017 21:23

Suzie seems completely normal and grounded. The Tesco pasta mention confirms that

I think that was literally the reason she mentioned it.

langkaw · 02/09/2017 21:23

Yes it's written like an ad. Because it is an ad, for himself as a cool dad.
