To do my make up in Pret?

I'm in Pret for my morning coffee. Didn't make the time to do my make up before I got the bus. Would I bu to do it here, discretely, in Pret? I was about to do so but then realised I've seen this classed as unreasonable on mm not before, and now I'm scared! Well not really, but if it's a massive faux paux I won't do it.

So as not to drip feed... All the benches outside in the high street are wet.

Go for it. Obviously no perfume spraying or anything else that could bother other people but apart from that, why not?

Believeitornot · 04/08/2017 07:57

Don't they have a toilet to use?

Or do it at work.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/08/2017 07:57

People do it, so it won't be anything new.

Personally, I find it tacky and won't do anything more than a lipstick check in public.

BillywigSting · 04/08/2017 07:59

Do it in the loo?
Tbh I do this fairly regularly in my local Costa but my makeup is pretty minimal. A bit of concealer /powder, eyeliner mascara and maybe a bit of lip colour. Takes about five minutes.

Might be a bit much if you're going for full on contouring with eleventy billion brushes and pallets involved though

BillywigSting · 04/08/2017 08:00

I do nip into the toilet though, I don't do it sat at a table

DonaldStott · 04/08/2017 08:01

Do it in the toilet

Applesandpears23 · 04/08/2017 08:02

Out of interest, jow do you apply make up discreetly bs not discreetly?

Applesandpears23 · 04/08/2017 08:03

Should say how do you apply make up discreetly vs not discreetly?

pasturesgreen · 04/08/2017 08:06

Go ahead, OP!

yummycake123 · 04/08/2017 08:39

I would.

StripySocks1 · 04/08/2017 08:41

I do it all the time! If anyone has a problem with it then they obviously haven't got enough going on in their lives Smile

NikiBabe · 04/08/2017 08:43

Yabu. Do it in the bathroom unless you wont come into contact with a bathroom and basin all day.

WunWun · 04/08/2017 08:44

It wouldn't disgust me or anything, but I would definitely think it was tacky. I don't know, it's a bit too close to washing etc to do in a cafe for me. Would people get the cotton pads out and take off their makeup in a cafe?

DaisysStew · 04/08/2017 08:45

As long as you don't whip your foot out and start painting your toenails like a girl on my bus did the other week then you're fine. Grin

Nanny0gg · 04/08/2017 08:47

It's obviously ok to do what you want, where you want, when you want these days.

But as I'm old and not got enough going on in my life I too think it's
tacky and there is a loo where you can do it out of sight.

KoalaDownUnder · 04/08/2017 08:47

In the bathroom? Sure.

At the table? No.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/08/2017 08:47

It's so sad that general standards keep slipping.

I once witnessed a SA at a beauty counter in a well know department store clip their nails.

kaytee87 · 04/08/2017 08:48

In the bathroom is ok, at a table is tacky

GameOldBirdz · 04/08/2017 08:50

Just do it, who gives a fuck what anyone else thinks?

I do full contouring on my face so when I'm doing my make up, by fuck, I am really doing my make up. If I don't have time to do it at home before I leave for work, I just do it where-ever, cafe, train, bus. Meh.

peachgreen · 04/08/2017 08:50

I absolutely ADORE watching people doing their make up and wish everyone did it in public!

Bubbinsmakesthree · 04/08/2017 08:52

I've done it before, sat at a table - my make up is pretty quick and minimal so it only takes a couple of minutes. Only if it is quiet though, feels a bit awkward if you're right next to someone tucking into a chocolate croissant.

Janika · 04/08/2017 08:52

Not at the table. That's horrible. Hate seeing make up applied in public, its bad enough on the train but to do it where others will eat and drink is rude. Go to the loo instead.

GameOldBirdz · 04/08/2017 08:54

Why the fuck is it "rude" to apply make up in a cafe Confused?

MN is a weird place.

peachgreen Me too. I actually got some great make up tips from a woman contouring on the train once Grin

SizeSevenShoes · 04/08/2017 08:56

When you consider the rude and tacky things men get away in public (spitting, cat calling, man spreading, swearing, walking around topless when it hits 12C), I think applying a bit of make up in a cafe pales in comparison.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/08/2017 08:57

Yabu, use the loo.
