to think you can't smear corbyn for supposed sympathy to the IRA and supposed willingness to do deals with the SNP and THEN do a deal yourself with the DUP?

How the hell do the tories think that they will get away with this?

so they still own the media right ?

Lana re Saudi - like governments for the last 50 years, including labour government.

ExplodedCloud · 09/06/2017 14:53

No contest then. Labour were accused of taking us back to the 1970s. Tories aimed for the 1870s, overshot and plunged us much, much further back with the DUP.

Oh and YANBU OP.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/06/2017 14:54

No, she is greasing the fucking wheels for a private business that makes billions of pounds a year selling weapons to fucking terrorists and dodgy governments

This!

ShatnersWig · 09/06/2017 14:56

I've just unfriended someone on FB who had a go at me for my commenting about the hypocrisy. Said I clearly knew nothing about Irish politics. Which he knew about as he spent a year in NI living with a Catholic family.

I pointed out I am part-Irish, my grandparents lived on the border with County Sligo, I still have Irish relatives, I visit there twice a year and knew a damn sight more about it than he did and if he honestly believed that no one in the DUP was involved in terrorism he was a moron and I was not going to miss his friendship.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 09/06/2017 14:57

Olivia I'm glad you never called him a terrorist sympathiser.

However countless others did, and the silence from them now is absolutely deafening.

Literally ^no one else* has tried to answer the perfectly reasonable question that if JC is/was a terrorist sympathiser, what the hell does that make TM now??

OliviaPopeRules · 09/06/2017 15:00

well I can only be responsible and answer for myself not other people

Dawndonnaagain · 09/06/2017 15:02

Dawn - because they were in power and it was their job.
Hurd met them in 1977. They were not in power.

makeourfuture · 09/06/2017 15:03

A lot of work ahead of us. A lot of work.

Let's get busy!

peachgreen · 09/06/2017 15:06

The DUP absolutely have links to terrorist groups but that picture is a (very bad) photoshop job.

ShatnersWig · 09/06/2017 15:08

Peach You're right, plenty of stuff without photoshopped jobs to prove it.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/06/2017 15:08

I thought everyone knew it was photoshopped? It doesn't change the legitimacy of what the picture is trying to say right enough, but it is clearly photoshopped.

JumpingJellybeanz · 09/06/2017 15:12

Is anyone worried that this sudden 'rise to power' by the DUP will upset the fragile balance of power in NI?

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 09/06/2017 15:12

Do you know what peach - given the amount of absolute bullshit people have spouted about JC, maybe a visual picture of the kind of people that TM is now using as a prop is fucking useful.

I have had to put up with years of people spreading fake news about JC, using carefully cut clips and out of context quotes/speeches from legit peace talks to smear him as a terrorist sympathiser, and I'm fucking sick of it.

Now TM has alligned herself in a firm way with terrorists and we are hearing nothing from those who were so vocal about Corbyn.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 09/06/2017 15:13

JumpingJellybeanz yes! Massively. And that the ramifications for the people of NI will be far worse than just political.

BWatchWatcher · 09/06/2017 15:13

The DUP are nasty, corrupt bigots but they aren't terrorists.
Hope this helps!

ShatnersWig · 09/06/2017 15:15

BWatch NOW? Maybe not. But then nor are SF now. THEN, however....

makeourfuture · 09/06/2017 15:15

Keep up the pressure.
Keep. Up. The. Pressure.

We won't crack. We won't break. Ever!

They will.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 09/06/2017 15:17

BWatch if you scroll upthread you'll find plenty of info and links to prove that yes, they are terrorists.

The groups they were/are affilliated with have been responsible for nearly as many innocent deaths as the IRA.

I ask again.
If JC is a terrorist sympathiser, what does that make a woman who uses proven terrorists to prop her Government, probably having to make concessions to them in the process??

Rinoachicken · 09/06/2017 15:22

By officially aligning themselves with the DUP ask means that the UK govt is now 'officially' no longer impartial in NI

Can't see that being a good thing tbh

user1497016724 · 09/06/2017 15:34

As someone who lives in NI I feel the need to clarify the DUP situation.

The DUP are mouth breathing, bigoted, racist, arrogant morons, with little in the way of coherent policies on education, health or indeed anything remotely resembling actual politics. In that they are the lowest form of Northern Irish politics and are on a par with Sinn Fein. There are other parties which you may find less offensive but all in the main share an outlook approximately 20 -30 years in the past. The DUP, however, are NOT terrorists (that would require them to get of their backsides and actually do something)

For parties actually affiliated with terrorist organisations you have

Sinn Fein

Progressive Unionist Party

Ulster Democratic Party (Now dissolved)

However stress not, as the advert says. In the same way that mainland UK dwellers know next to nothing about NI politics and care even less, the DUP do not care about what happens to you. I’d guess that their impact will be more to do with wringing exemptions for Northern Ireland from any policies presented to Parliament that might actually drag NI into the 19th century. The 20th century is but a pipe dream.

So spare a thought for we poor inhabitants of the north, we’ve had these useless fuckers for decades, you’ll only have to look at them for a couple of years.

HelenaDove · 09/06/2017 15:36

I voted Labour as i usually do. Id never really heard of DUP until the early hours of this morning.

Am horrified and the hypocrisy is absolutely astounding.

Just caught a clip of Arlene Foster on the news She looks as hard as nails.

Tiredemma · 09/06/2017 15:43

Its a disgrace.

I would be interested to know what Tory voters really think of this.

sonjadog · 09/06/2017 15:49

As an ex-NI person, I am horrified/amused that the Tories are stuck with the DUP. Be prepared to listen to bigotry like you have never heard before... I can´t understand why people in NI still vote for them.

LovelyBath77 · 09/06/2017 15:50

It is quite ironic isn't it!

HornyTortoise · 09/06/2017 16:01

user1497016724

Thanks for clarifying a little. I have no idea about Irish politics. One of my Irish FB friends said this this morning and its made me very very scared so it seems he was exaggerating?

The irony in them slating Corbyn for 7 weeks for simply speaking to the IRA in the 90s, and now they are in government with a party that still to this day funds and supports two illegal 'loyalist' terrorist organizations in Ireland

Laughable, but honestly they are a horrendous party - detested by people here

I have had a quick look at their record mind and my god, total dinosaurs. Very very homophobic. Other things too of course, but the homophobia really is something to behold, I didn't think views such as theirs existed today in civilized society at least :S
