to think you can't smear corbyn for supposed sympathy to the IRA and supposed willingness to do deals with the SNP and THEN do a deal yourself with the DUP?

YANBU at all. Fucking ridiculous state of affairs.

cdtaylornats · 09/06/2017 14:15

Dawn - because they were in power and it was their job.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 09/06/2017 14:17

cdtaylor

After seeing that picture upthread, would you not say that TM has just become the biggest terrorist sympathiser?

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 09/06/2017 14:18

(and that's without mentioning that she will happily sell arms to Saudi, who are arming, amongst other delightful groups, ISIS)

Xenophile · 09/06/2017 14:19

Of course not Lana, it needs to be shared far and wide.

OliviaPopeRules · 09/06/2017 14:21

Dawn personally I don't actually have an issue with Corbyn having discussions with the IRA (even though it is slightly different to Thatcher etc as they were in government).
My issue is that a couple of weeks after the IRA tried to murder the democratically elected British government, JC invited Gerry Adams (who was on the IRA council) to the British parliament. To my knowledge he has never accepted that this was the wrong this to do.
But I do appreciate this won't matter to a lot of people, especially younger people in the context of wider issues.

iloveeverykindofcat · 09/06/2017 14:23

Funny how some terrorists are OK and others are the devil, eh?

Or to put it another way, whoever's in power decides what's terrorism, what's legitimate force and what's collateral damage. History written by the victors and all that.

Olivia
Care to comment on TMs shacking up with the DUP?

OliviaPopeRules · 09/06/2017 14:25

Lana already said I don't agree with it (read my previous comments on this thread).
Would you care to comment on my point re JC?

It feels like the lunatics are taking over the asylum.

Yes, happily.

JC was doing what he thought was best at the time to broker peace.
It wasn't a genius idea, I'll grant you, but it was a damn sight better than having your Government propped up by proven terrorists and creationists.

And JC has been responsible for brokering a lot of peace talks and deals, where others have failed.

Apprently that makes him even more evil than a woman who is about to do a deal with paramillitary terrorists, right?

greedygorb · 09/06/2017 14:32

Well that's one way to a strong and stable government- shacking up with the sane rationalists of the DUP. FFS. Creationism anyone?

GherkinSnatch · 09/06/2017 14:33

I'm not sure if the picture of the house end up front isn't photoshopped tbh.

Xenophile · 09/06/2017 14:33

user... me too!

greedygorb · 09/06/2017 14:34

And it sadly made me realise I will never ever go back to NI to live - when more than half the country voted for these awful people and moderates have been swept aside.

OliviaPopeRules · 09/06/2017 14:36

I don't think I said anything like that but it suits your rhetoric.
Also rewriting history that JC was somehow responsible for peace in NI is just BS.
I already told you I don't agree with working with the DUP but out of interest can you tell me who of their 10 MP's is a proven terrorist (I am genuinely interested in this) ?

OliviaPopeRules · 09/06/2017 14:40

Lana And on the Saudi issue, I didn't read anywhere in the labour manifesto that they were going to ban the sale of arms you saudi, did I miss it?
Oh and TM doesn't sell them personally you know private companies do, who employ over 300,000 in the U.K.

stayathomegardener · 09/06/2017 14:40

It's like a child has looked at the numbers needed to form a majority and chosen based on that figure.
I despair.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 09/06/2017 14:43

I didn't at any point say he was responsible for brokering peace in NI!

I said two seperate things....

  1. That with NI he was doing what he thought best at that time.
  2. Over the years JC has taken part in a lot of talks, about situations all over the world.

Re: the DUP, it doesn't matter about the 10 MPs when they have very strong links as a whole party to a violent terrorist group with well documented links (check out all the info upthread)

I don't have rhetoric, just facts and questions, which strangely no one who shouted about JC being in bed with terrorists by twisting facts seems to be able to answer.

Where are these vocal JC haters now?

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 09/06/2017 14:45

Olivia
Seeing as JC has a very strong history of particiaption in groups that are anti- arms sales, does it not make sense that would be something he would address??

He has spoken out about this before, it didn't need to be in the manifesto.

It's not JC standing in the photos with the very people responsible for spreading and funding a brand of Islam that are killing UK citizens, is it??

But lets keep twisting it back round to him Hmm

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 09/06/2017 14:48

Olivia
She is fucking responsible for brokering the arms deals, yes!

Do you think she meets these people for a nice chat and a cup of tea??!

No, she is greasing the fucking wheels for a private business that makes billions of pounds a year selling weapons to fucking terrorists and dodgy governments.

Yes she is fucking directly responsible.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 09/06/2017 14:50

Olivia JC won a peace award in 2003.

When has TM ever done anything to bring peace, anywhere, ever?

OliviaPopeRules · 09/06/2017 14:52

I don't think I ever called him a terrorist sympathiser. I didn't vote labour in small part because of what I mentioned above but also because although I have no issues with their policies (NHS, Schools funding, extra police etc) or the extra tax I would pay I didn't think they would be able to collect the money they thought and that the economy would stop growing (some of which I based on IFS analysis, but I'm not an economist so what do I know!). I think I would prefer a labour majority to what we have now. And if they were voted in I would have hoped that their plans worked because I don't want years of uncertainty.
