to think you can't smear corbyn for supposed sympathy to the IRA and supposed willingness to do deals with the SNP and THEN do a deal yourself with the DUP?

Tuam is in Galway.

Which isn't in Northern Ireland.

Sunny Sorry yes i know but i was just using it as an example that people do notice what is going on elsewhere.

I saw Arlene on the tv yesterday. She comes across as hard as nails.

metspengler · 10/06/2017 14:59

So you missed the bit about her toadying up to the Saudis and selling arms to them did you? You know, the Saudis who are arming ISIS?

If you think there is something about selling arms to/being beholden to Saudi Arabia that is specific to one party, you should change where you get your information from.

In fact everyone who suggests this as a recent Tory characteristic strongly implies they have been oblivious to news and foreign affairs for decades.

seoulsurvivor · 10/06/2017 15:36

mets who said it was unique to the Tories?

No one.

People are saying that this government is utterly hypocritical. As most are. That doesn't mean we can't point out that this one is too.

Ah yes so the same posters who are defending right wing hard line religious views on another thread are there deriding the DUP? How does that work?

Agent provocateur is as agent provocateur does.

I find myself signing petitions under this Tory government with very much the same enthusiasm as I marched against the Iraqi war under a Labour government. Tony Blair's was a wrong and destabilising policy, this is a wrong and destabilising policy. Having protested against the one does not preclude me from protesting against the other, nor does protesting against present wrong take away the fact that I also protested against past wrongs. As a lot of us did.

Is it not in the spirit of Corbyn-type politics that we try to talk to these people and influence them? I don't see TM as being the best person for that job though

christinarossetti · 10/06/2017 18:36

There have been long and extensive talks Jux, culminating in the Good Friday agreement.

That's what TM is compromising.

Can't be said better or more concisely than this.

There is a difference between talking to people on both sides (GFA) and announcing that you are now going to in hock to one side (TM).

christinarossetti · 10/06/2017 22:46

Yes, it's very concerning, although I do believe that there are enough people on all sides who really, really don't want to disrupt the peace agreement to ensure that this agreement gets stopped in its tracks pretty sharpish.
