I bought new knickers yesterday...

Really comfy ones. You know the kind, big, soft and stretchy, unflattering as hell. DP thinks they're hilarious. I quote 'you're wearing acres of knicker'.
AIBU to think men don't realise how lucky they are that ALL men's pants are comfy, save the odd novelty thong?! Don't get me wrong, I like a French knicker and I'm partial to the odd tiny pair of lace pants, but nothing beats the comfort of really big, stretchy pants.

Disclaimer: This is lighthearted. Really.

Oh, I love a nice pair of big, black, cotton granny pants. Heavenly things.

Iamastonished · 07/06/2017 21:52

"Haven't worn knickers for years. They show through everything apart from jeans"

No they don't. I don't tend to wear the sort of clothes that show my knickers, and I don't get the angst about VPL anyway. I can't bear the idea of wearing a pair of trousers without underwear. I would only be able to wear them once before washing them.

Judydreamsofhorses · 07/06/2017 21:53

I wear thongs - but not teeny tiny ones - with jeans or trousers, big knickers with skirts/dresses. I tend to buy Freya underwear and get one pair of each per bra (I like to match). With thongs I always buy the size up, but more because I don't want any pinchiness round the hips/waist. I think my arse looks not entirely hideous - size 10/12 - in either option. I have massive cotton M&S knickers for sleeping in during my period too.

Mysteriouscurle · 07/06/2017 21:56

I gave up on the frilly lacy jobs a long time ago except for ahem... special occasions. Nothing beats full cover briefs from M&S

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 07/06/2017 22:00

I only ever wear M&S cotton full briefs, preferably in suitably grannyish floral patterns - had a brief flirtation with midis a few years ago but returned to the giant ones swiftly. They come up to my navel Smile. I really, really cba to wear anything less comfortable, which to my mind is every other form of knicker ever invented. DH is bemused by my granny pants but I really don't care!

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 07/06/2017 22:02

Xpost Mysterious - they are truly the only pants to wear! Giant, soft, and 5 for £8. What's not to love?!

Haffiana · 07/06/2017 22:20

Proper big knickers!

Jesus. Sometimes I wonder how I get so much business, and then I read threads like this.

TatianaLarina · 07/06/2017 22:24

M&S high leg are as big as I get. But they are really comfy.

I don't wear see through clothes! Grin I was referring to the dreaded VPL as it looks a mess on me. Also I don't ever wear trousers.

Cropped leggings with a bit of tummy control under dresses in summer (which obviously are washed after one wear). Or nothing at all.

In winter some nice high waisted tights do the job (which obviously have a cotton gusset). Or Spanx leggings which look nice with boots and dresses.

MacarenaFerreiro · 07/06/2017 22:32

I had an abdominal hysterectomy about 6 months ago and now have a massive scar on my bikini line. After surgery bikini style or midi style pants were out of the question - it was big pants all the way. So comfy. M&S ones the absolute best.

Thongs sound like hell on earth.

AntagonyAunt · 07/06/2017 22:33

Can't stand thongs. It's like the bit that goes between your toe on a flip flop. Bloody irritating.

PoloStar · 07/06/2017 22:36

I wore a thong once when riding. It drew blood.

Big pants all the way

AntagonyAunt · 07/06/2017 22:37

Yep, after a c section it was massive pants and I've never looked back.

ballroompink · 07/06/2017 22:42

I recently came to the conclusion that none of the M & S multipack knickers suit me but have been impressed by Primark bikinis and hipsters for bum coverage. The M & S bikinis don't have enough and disappear up my bum as I walk! I'm a slim pear shape and don't want or need anything high waisted but inadequate bum coverage is AWFUL. When everyone was raving about Brazilians I bought some and they're entirely the wrong shape for me.

loveka · 07/06/2017 22:57

Sorry, what's that? If women wear comfortable pants their partners will go to prostitutes? Is that your thought? Jesus Christ.

AntagonyAunt · 07/06/2017 22:57

The only thing my thongs get used for these days is as a hairband when I can't find one. Just have to remember to take it out before I leave the house!

Akire · 07/06/2017 23:03

I find midi pants are cut about 5mm to short on ass checks. So instead of cupping it balances and ends up being at least one side up your backside. Big pants are only ones that cover the ass and stay put. Why can't we have smaller ones that just stay put?

29Palms · 07/06/2017 23:03

One of the things that pisses me off about M&S is the way they mix colours in multi-packs instead of letting you just buy the colour you want.

StarHeartDiamond · 07/06/2017 23:06

I bought some "full briefs" the other week what with it being summer season and wearing skirts & dresses more. Never felt so comfy (and secure!)

MacarenaFerreiro · 07/06/2017 23:24

Jesus. Sometimes I wonder how I get so much business, and then I read threads like this.

Yes, yes that's right. Men use prostitutes not because they're inadequate, selfish, unfaithful and scummy, but because their partners drive them to it by wearing big knickers.

How fucking insulting.

MacarenaFerreiro · 07/06/2017 23:25

Pick and mix pants!

(rushes off to patent concept)

29Palms · 07/06/2017 23:30

I've just seen a review of M&S knickers left by a 65+ gentleman from North Wales.

I love full briefs
These knickers are very comfy, and being a male wearer I enjoy these very much, and as ever a good fit.

nakedscientist · 07/06/2017 23:42

Just checked with DH he says thongs are horrible, but named a pair of my knickers he liked "your dark blue ones" (French) I was pretty surprised that he noticed TBH but says he prefers me when they're off Blush. I normally wear M&S big body cons or " suckatummy"as I affectionately call them Grin
