Did anyone use to watch Family Ties, the TV series with Michael J. Fox? He played a young Republican who still considered Nixon as his hero. I'm sure that reflected the mood among many Republicans at the time.

If the GOP agree to relinquish Trump but insist on keeping Pence then I think there's a deal in the making. It's the only solution that offers any hope of bringing the heartland 'semi on-board' and that, at the moment, must be a considerable concern to all Americans who are considering the Aftermath.

I know. (Although from what I hear, he's not outperforming the other tools in the toolbox.) And maybe it is appeasement to a degree. What I also know, however, is that you have millions of Americans who happen to believe in him and to allow this to play out until the point where you need a new election would be likely - even in this day and age - to lead to civil war. A very bloody one.

I agree that in a way he could be more dangerous than Trump, but at least it would be at a slower pace and maintain some stability. I expect he'd be replaced in 3 years and would hope for a strong Democrat win in 2018 to keep him under control.

Yes, I think that's a fair assessment. I suppose that is how it will play out (unless we learn he's been involved in even more shocking cover-ups/scandals).

There does seem to be more and more coverage in the MSM of how implausible his story is (and therefore how much more likely it is that he outright lied to the pubic) re: Flynn.
