Why don't crumpets come in an 8 pack?

Six is just daft. Four crumpets is a sensible serving. But then you're left with two stragglers.

Is it a ploy to make us buy two packs? I think it's well shifty.

Aibu?

They do... Tesco and Sainsbury's own brand has packs of 8!

MrsHathaway · 10/05/2017 12:13

FOUR!?

Have you tried the Warburtons large crumpets? They are far easier to toast.

PhilODox · 10/05/2017 12:13

Yeah- what she said!Grin

tattychicken · 10/05/2017 12:13

You're buying Posh Crumpets.

PhilODox · 10/05/2017 12:15

Four? I like crumpets, but that's a little too many!
Sainsburys are in eights, so two servings for me and DH as the strange children won't touch them.

They are lovely but the packaging is hugely wasteful!

Serving size here is however many I want plus one for DS and one for DD and then minus a bite of mine for each...

GreenHairDontCare · 10/05/2017 12:15

Shock Really? Ah, but are they then skinny facsimiles of a proper crumpet?

Four is a bit much as a portion but I do wish they came as 8 as standard because it causes crumpet-based resentment at the weekends because you have two each as a serving, then there's two left, and whoever goes out first on the Sunday (me) finds that the other serving has been consumed when they bloody get back Angry

ImperialBlether · 10/05/2017 12:18

OP, do you really think four is a serving? Have you ever had them in a cafe and wondered why you only get two?

EdmundCleverClogs · 10/05/2017 12:18

You get 9 in a pack of Asda ones (and I can't tell the difference to be honest).

viques · 10/05/2017 12:19

Secret frozen crumpets is the answer. Leave the empty packet on the kitchen table but freeze the spares in an anonymous foil package!

EdmundCleverClogs · 10/05/2017 12:19

And I only have 1 as a serving, am I odd??

GreenHairDontCare · 10/05/2017 12:19

Two is a snack. Four is a proper lunch.

Asda do 8 in a pack.

Wouldn't dare buy anything crumpet-wise that we can't all just have two each of & there's nothing left to argue about!

Why not just buy 2 packs of 6-as 4 divides into that!!

SherlockPotter · 10/05/2017 12:21

The Sainsbury's/Tesco ones are slightly skinnier but they're wider, you only need two! With Warburton's/Kingsmill, I normally have three unless it's a giant crumpet then I only have one!

Chocolatecake12 · 10/05/2017 12:22

Lidl ones come in a pack of 8!

diddl · 10/05/2017 12:24

Also-be grateful that you live somewhere where crumpets are readily available & you don't have to survive between visits to the UK on the meagre amount that you can fit in your luggage!

Ontopofthesunset · 10/05/2017 12:26

Two is a serving, surely. One would be a snack. You can get 8 packs at Tesco but their Finest Crumpets come in sixes.

NoCapes · 10/05/2017 12:27

Four crumpets?! And crumpets as lunch??

Magicpaintbrush · 10/05/2017 12:27

I tell you what, not all crumpets are equal as far as taste and general deliciousness goes - supermarket own brands are absolutely no match for Warburtons which are the most delicious by far (and come in a 6 pack). It is a great excuse to buy two packs imho Grin. And they have to be slightly crisp from the toaster for ultimate awesomeness.

I really really like crumpets, can you tell? Grin

HarrietKettleWasHere · 10/05/2017 12:27

DP uses them as soldiers for dippy eggs. I can't decide if this is an abomination or a great idea.

GreenHairDontCare · 10/05/2017 12:28

Yes mine are Warburtons.

Ooh, I quite like the soldiers idea.

Four is a bit excessive Grin I love crumpets as much as the next person, but all that stodge sitting in my stomach would leave me feeling dreadful for the rest of the day!

minipie · 10/05/2017 12:35

Warburtons come in a 9 pack. Which means at some point I have to eat 3 when I really only need 2...

Ontopofthesunset · 10/05/2017 12:35

Crumpets for lunch with melted cheese on top....
