Why don't crumpets come in an 8 pack?

Six is just daft. Four crumpets is a sensible serving. But then you're left with two stragglers.

Is it a ploy to make us buy two packs? I think it's well shifty.

Perhaps for the same reason that burgers come in packs of 4 but buns in packs of 6.

This reminds me of the scene in Father of the Bride where he is removing "superfluous buns" to go with his hot dogs.

GretchenFranklin · 10/05/2017 13:12

They need to be toasted to a nice puk-like crispiness then soaked in Lurpak. I do feel a complete twat for sticking rigidly to just two all this time.

PyongyangKipperbang · 10/05/2017 13:13

I love crumpets but I couldnt eat more than 2 for my lunch! And I am now desperate for a crumpet but I am low carbing :(

NomDePlumeReloaded · 10/05/2017 13:14

I prefer the Waitrose essential ones, I find the Warbies ones a bit salty but my local hasn't had them in for months now. I hope they've not been discontinued. They seemed to sell well.

talksensetome · 10/05/2017 13:18

I thought they come in packs of 9, I must be confused. 2 is a serving in our house and occasionally go back for an extra one.

talksensetome · 10/05/2017 13:19

Supersmith That looks like someone has robbed half of your crumpet!

amusedbush · 10/05/2017 13:19

I whack the toaster up to 11 and do it that way

But the dial on a toaster is the number of minutes, not a temperature gauge, surely?

HarrietKettleWasHere · 10/05/2017 13:21

My toaster only goes up to 4 Sad

I think that was a Spinal Tap reference Smile

Okay, I have a question for you all.

How many English muffins would you class as a breakfast serving?

I ask because I'd like the option to have two muffins, i.e. four halves. Might only eat one if I wasn't very hungry, but two is ideal for a 'proper' breakfast.

I was recently staying at a friend's house, and 'my' second muffin was given away because 'we only need one each'. Sad Couldn't tell if my friend was being unreasonable or if I'm just a greedy guts. Grin

HarrietKettleWasHere · 10/05/2017 13:29

One muffin- depending on what you have on or in it. If an egg and ham, or like an eggs benedict, def two halves.

If just plain, I guess I'd eat four halves...but a plain muffin is a bit pointless! They're for eggs Benedict really or as a mcmuffin

AngelicaSchuylerChurch · 10/05/2017 13:29

barnaby

Depends what's on the muffins. If eggs benedict / royale / florentine then one muffin, two halves. If butter only, I'd probably want three halves, maybe four.

Oldraver · 10/05/2017 13:30

If it's just Muffins I would say two...If it's accompanied by bacon, eggs etc then one

littlebarnabybear · 10/05/2017 13:30

I'm talking muffins with only just butter, as an alternative to toast.

amusedbush · 10/05/2017 13:34

Yes, I assumed as much but it doesn't make much sense unless you're actually altering the toaster... does it? Why would you have to "whack it" up to anything?

diddl · 10/05/2017 13:52

Well, I posted rubbish saying that Asda do 8-it's 9!

So, where has the extra one been going??

It should have been mine for bringing them back!!

Ilikecheeriosyum · 10/05/2017 14:16

Because they're an abomination and it's less wasteful when you put them in the

Grin

I hate crumpets.

Ilikecheeriosyum · 10/05/2017 14:17

*in the bin

Jeez forgot half my sentence haha

PyongyangKipperbang · 10/05/2017 14:43

I would have 2 halves of a muffin.

1 slice toast = 1 crumpet = 1 half of a bagel = 1 half of a muffin

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 10/05/2017 14:46

I can eat six for dinner in the evening

PerpendicularVincent · 10/05/2017 15:23

I'd just make 10 a bit hotter rather than whacking it up to 11.

BlackadderBells · 10/05/2017 15:28

Why why did I click on this thread? I LOVE hot buttered crumpets normally the whole pack myself.

I want crumpets!

mumeeee · 10/05/2017 15:31

Tesco sell crumpets in packs of 8. I would never eat 4 crumpets in one serving. 2 is plenty in fact my DH and adult DD3 would only eat 3

Spuddington · 10/05/2017 16:12

I wish I could get pikelets somewhere other than Tesco. They're far superior.

My Warburton's crumpets come in a pack of 9.

metalmum15 · 10/05/2017 16:20

I have a Tesco pack of 8 in the cupboard!
