To hope "twinning" is not a real life thing?

Having a nosey on Instagram and came across a very lovely account where the mum dresses her DC in matching outfits (I.e the same out fit as the mother). It all looks very sweet sat here from afar but is it really transferable in real life? Would you feel like a total prat walking round Tesco in an identical outfit to your 5 year old? Apparently "twinning is winning" prehaps in instaworld it is. I'm thinking that maybe I should try it out? Would it make me and my DCs happy? Would people stop to tell me how wonderful it is to see real life Von Trapps and thus spread the joy to the people of Northen England on a grey day?
Seriously, does anyone really do this or know someone that does? It's very much brightened my day to be honest so I'm not been mean spirited.

Whilst I'm on it does anyone know anyone who really stands in woodland wearing a variety of "outfits of the day" or shares a candid picture of a cup of tea in bed? I do love instagram it just makes me feel so dull

'Twinning' sounds like something invented by an obscure Christian fundamentalist sect in the redneck heartland of the US that forbids women to cut their hair. Creeptastic, in other words.

I know of someone who does this. Looks a little silly depending on the outfit she chooses, but each to their own. Could look nice for a special occasion, but everyday 'casual' is a bit much for me personally.

I have observed that, at least while on holiday, they're big on this in Asia. They even have dedicated stores for matchy matchy parent/child outfits ...

I wouldn't do it.. I'd look better than my daughter and I wouldn't want her realising

I do it at Christmas. I'm also into my Lindy Bop stuff and when my girl is big enough I might get her a couple of mayching outfits.

Wouldn't do it all the time but I think it's cute :)

I feel if DD and I are both wearing denim jackets, like we're part of Bewitched or something so I won't be partaking in Twinning.

Unfortunately they don't make adult sized versions of funky toddler dragon print trousers or intarsia Gruffalo jumpers. (Actually they probably do but they don't sell them in the shops I frequent). So alas, we cannot join this trend.

Often used to turn up at toddler group me and 2 kids in jeans and Breton t shirts with matching stains.

Not planned as such though.....

Ten years ago when my children were small enough to wear Gymboree clothes they had a section of adult clothes matching the children's. So there you go! It existed ten years ago (for the record, I was never tempted)

I saw this a LOT in Florida theme parks, all members of the family dressed in the same t-shirts etc. Bit sad, if you ask me.

Matching mother and daughter dresses are very much a "thing" in the Uk though and are absolutely hideous. Kim Fox on Eastenders dresses Pearl in mini-me costumes and the least said about that the better.

I've seen twinning/mummy and me outfits for sale online, I pointed some out to my9yo DD once and she was very about them.

I guess it's kind of cute for very small children once in a while, more than that it goes a bit Buster and Lucile Bluth.

Have to say when I was a small child I had a spotty dress that was similar, but not identical, to one my mum had.

I would always try to talk her into wearing it at the same time :).

Although if it had been all day every day, or my mums idea, i'd have hated it..

My mum used to do it with me, and I'm going to do it if I have a daughter. I think it's lovely

I know a fashion blogger and she gets loads of free clothes to stand about in doing outfit of the day as well as free tickets to lots of events and tons of other free stuff to promote.

If I was younger I'd have a go.

Not sure about the twinning though, a bit Daniella Westbrook and the Burberry.

I do it all the time! It looks fab. My DS1&2 love me wearing grey shorts and blue v neck jumpers on the school run.

Aren't primark bringing out a mini me range? I'm sure I saw it advertised somewhere. Dd would try and make me wear pink if we did that. No thanks

I think it's really sweet but I'm quite sentimental and old-fashioned.

My sister and I wore the same outfits all the time, thanks to my mother!
So no I won't be joining in either, esp as my child is obsessed with paw patrol and there's no way in hell I'm wearing that

There's 6 of us and once on a day we realised we were all wearing green coats and blue jeans except DC4, he looked like some kind of rejected child.

My SIL will probably be all over twinning, her and DN had matching dresses at Christmas and SIL straightens DN's beautiful curly hair so she looks more like her. She likes to post on FB how they are bestest fwends, it's nauseating.
