To hope "twinning" is not a real life thing?

Having a nosey on Instagram and came across a very lovely account where the mum dresses her DC in matching outfits (I.e the same out fit as the mother). It all looks very sweet sat here from afar but is it really transferable in real life? Would you feel like a total prat walking round Tesco in an identical outfit to your 5 year old? Apparently "twinning is winning" Hmm prehaps in instaworld it is. I'm thinking that maybe I should try it out? Would it make me and my DCs happy? Would people stop to tell me how wonderful it is to see real life Von Trapps and thus spread the joy to the people of Northen England on a grey day?
Seriously, does anyone really do this or know someone that does? It's very much brightened my day to be honest so I'm not been mean spirited.

Whilst I'm on it does anyone know anyone who really stands in woodland wearing a variety of "outfits of the day" or shares a candid picture of a cup of tea in bed? I do love instagram it just makes me feel so dull Grin

Hideous idea that is epitome of poor taste and trying to make a child an extension of an attention seeking mother.

Kezzamo

You're going to come under fire for saying 'hubs' more than the twinning Grin

I work for a scandinavian clothes company who sell quite a lot of things which have mother and daughter matching potential.
Definately a marmite idea! Sadly my children are not keen

It's the kind of thing Mormon bloggers seem to be into.

I have done it unintentionally, so we're all wearing a yellow jumper for example. I find it embarrassing though.

I have bought DS1 and DS2 matching pyjamas though, and love it when they happen to wearing the same pair. In fact, if Sainsbury's did adult woman pirate pyjamas I'd probably buy them...

DD (9) and I do have matching onesies....
Sometimes she looks at what i am wearing and tries to wear similar colours, but not actual the same clothes ever..(apart from the onesie,,)

There is a lady on Instagram called hannahstraffordtaylor who does it tastefully, and very expensively!

My friend does this with her toddler dd sometimes and it's very sweet.
It never occurred to me to do it with my own dd and now at the ripe old age of 6, it would never fly. If we coincidentally get dressed wearing similar jeans/ shirts - she marches straight back into her room muttering about having to get changed 😂

I've bought clothes from a scandi clothes company (maybe same as yours ILoveDolly?) that do have patterns (but not cuts) that match across mum/girl/even boy clothes on occasion. I have bought an adult's dress and a similar one for my daughter, however I have thus far wimped out of wearing them together. I just liked the pattern!

We did both have the same pair of spotty leggings for a while though from another scandi brand (I am in my thirties, she is a toddler) and we went out in them once. Looked ridiculous but it was fun.

I would feel too 'naff' to do it, but I think it caaaaannnn work. Maybe.

Me and DD accidentally did this when she'd be away with her GP's. When i picked her up, we were both wearing jeggings and gold trainers. Only the T-shirts didnt match.

I got a marketing email through this week - I thought it was from Boden US, but I can't find it now - with the "mum" and "daughter" wearing different versions of the same outfit. Confused

I have occasionally found DD and I wearing similar outfits (blue jeans and a stripey top, for eg) but we would never plan it that way. Not least, she looks so much better than me in practically everything, why would I want to draw attention to this?!

I honestly thought this thread would be about the sexual exploits of two sets of twins...

I don't really get this as much as only have a ds, but have a Disney mad friend and she and her dd both have pink Minnie Mouse hoodies. I suppose ds and I (and dh) will occasionally go out accidentally wearing a t shirt of the same superhero, but we're a superhero household so it's bound to happen now and then!

BellMcEnd that's hilarious. Once I very stupidly wore a red fleece top and navy trackie bottoms on the school run. I was horrified when I saw a sea of red sweatshirts and navy tracksuits steaming out of the gates. I felt like a huge, overweight, tragic school child, prematurely wrinkled. I couldn't get back in the car fast enough.
So I think I'd feel the same if I matched my beautiful daughters - unfavourably compared. Mind, my eldest would die if I tried. My youngest would beg me to match her (up until a couple of years ago).

The nearest we come is all wearing jeans, we did have matching beach shorts a few years ago because DH thought it would be nice to have mini-me outfits though.

Not for me, but I think I saw this week primark have released a mini me collection so expect to see a lot more of it 🤣
