AIBU with my friends?

I'm the first one in my social group to get pregnant. I talk to my friends on a daily basis through WhatsApp and see them all in person at least once a week.

As it's my first pregnancy, I'm very excited. I can't stop talking about it. I'm so lucky, so happy, so fortunate & so privileged. My baby feels so special, like I know my baby will do something incredible in this world - I can feel it!!

And yet, my friends have started to turn on me. They've become very jealous. They make snide remarks, they mimick me & give me side eye. I feel like my pregnancy is the butt of all the jokes.

I can't help that I've been so blessed and so fortunate to get pregnant out of my friends first. I went to college, uni, started a professional career first & got married first. I've just always been up step ahead - I can't help it!!

Would it be unreasonable to sit my friends down and ask them to stop being so negative? I want to ask them to support me better and help me out.

Cross posted with you francis. I don't think anyone is obliged to provide meat for meat eaters. Everyone can eat vegetarian food.

Crapuccino · 20/04/2017 22:58

Francis: I mixed the sour cream with cream cheese with garlic and herbs for extra kick.

Oh... My... God... That sounds like sex for the tastebuds. It needs to be Friday already.

The comments from my friends were stuff like "you'll be a Helicopter mum!" and taking the piss when I asked for baby name suggestions. I don't want to insult anyone by listing them, but they were obnoxious baby names that celebrities would use. We also got into an argument about diets and styles of parenting (I want to use choice parenting like my sister in law does).

As for the looks, it's been a lot of eye rolling and disinterested looks when I've been discussing my pregnancy.

Oh, and that serial killer comment was vile. No, my baby will not end up on a Netflix original series. Thank you.

We'll have to keep a lookout for your posts on Gifted & Talented in - what? 4 months' time?

LoveDeathPrizes · 20/04/2017 23:03

Phyllis You've shot it with your last comment. Definitely not real. Too self-aware! And quite funny in places.

LoveDeathPrizes · 20/04/2017 23:04

Anyhoo... Has anyone noticed that since the courgettes came back they're bigger?!

PaulAnkaTheDog · 20/04/2017 23:04

You asked them for baby names??

GET A GRIP WOMAN!

SERIOUSLY, you are going to lose your friends if you don't actually develop a smidge of self awareness.

Serial killer comment was excellent.

If I was your friend my eyes would be permanently in the back of my head by now. Or be comatose from boredom. It's not a 'discussion' of your pregnancy, is it? Talking at people about a supremely dull subject is arse-numbingly boring. You're the human equivalent of watching paint dry.

You reckon they'll only make CBS Drama?

I thought you expected great things for them.

Dozer · 20/04/2017 23:09

What is "choice parenting"?

So much fajita fandom on MN: Friday tomorrow!

Dozer · 20/04/2017 23:10

Dexter might be good if it's a boy.

Crapuccino · 20/04/2017 23:11

Dozer Maybe it's where you give them a choice of another parent if the one they've got is driving them absolutely stark raving mental?

Daydream007 · 20/04/2017 23:11

I don't think they are jealous but pregnant women can be boring to be around when they go on like you. Maybe you could find some pregnant friends that you have something in common with?
