To not know who the hell the vote for?

As far as I can see my options are:

Tory - probably get the best deal for brexit but I utterly abhor some of their current policies and the way lives are being destroyed

Labour - an inefficient opposition with nothing to suggest they would be any better in government. Their leader is, at best, naive. As an aside I had vowed to never vote for them after they brought in university fees but that's small fry these days!

Lib Dem - no idea what they are doing as shown with the coalition. Plus my local candidate never bothers to get his leaflets proof read which doesn't give you faith in his efficiency if he were in power.

UKIP - should no longer be in existence. They got what they wanted - brexit- so no longer have a point. The trouble with single issue parties is when that issue is gone they really need to disband.

BNP - no. Just no.

Greens - a wasted vote.

Independent - see above. Also in a government run by parties even if they get in will never be more than a backbencher.

Mrs Pritchard's Purple Party - sadly not real.

Have I missed anything?

I feel your pain. I've ruled out labour on the basis that I couldn't possibly live with myself if I voted for that idiot, but other than that I'm no further forward. What labour needs if it's going to recover is a crushing defeat under Corbyn.

I feel the same way. I was dithering over joining the Lib Dems but can't actually see what they would do if they got any power. I'm trying to look at the election from a constituency point of view rather than a national leadership view. You can look up how your MP voted etc on a website I think its called 'theyworkforyou' or similar.

I am in the Labour party and i would say vote Labour the media a very much against Jeremy Corbyn. Hope this helps xx

I'm voting Labour. I'm in a Lab/Cons marginal seat and I can't stand to see what's going on with the NHS under the conservatives. They aren't even balancing the books despite cutting public services to the bone.
Labour built the NHS and I think they are the best party to save it.

I think you have to:

  • decide what issues are most important to you
  • look at policies from the parties and see which you agree with most
  • check you think the policies are achievable
  • go with the 'least bad' option or consider a tactical vote for the 'bad but not as bad as the other lot'

It is unlikely you will agree 100% with any party (unless you start your own) so you have to think and work out where you will compromise.

Even in 'safe seats' your vote isn't wasted, as they also look at overall percentage vote and size of majorities when considering / discussing how popular a government is.

The main thing is to think about it and vote.
Stand up and be counted for your opinion.

This is a very left wing pseudo middle class forum, they'll urge you to vote for Corbyn simply because they don't like May. No other reason. In actuality all they are doing is coercively getting extra votes.

Although party policies are clearly important and an MP will generally vote along party lines, it is also worth trying to research the record of your local MP to try and establish a bit about them and how well they have represented their constituency and what their record is on voting in Parliament. After all, if you are that fed up with every party, you could do worse than think about what that person as an individual is going to do for the area in which you live.

Conservative all the way. Labour did not help the nhs last time by taking on a load of completely unviable ppp deals to build nee hospitals. The deals could not work but all Tony and Gordon wanted was to build new hospitals. Apparently if anyone tried to explain to him that the deals were hideous he would shout at them to just do it

As a result you now had the Tories trying to save money by doing things lime closing Lewisham Hospital, to divert patients to the failing ppp hospital that Tony and Gordon set up. You didn't hear much about that at the time, oh no, it was all nasty Jeremy Hunt closing a hospital down for fun

If you think that level of incompetence is bad just wait for what the moronic idiot Corbyn and his nasty racist antisemitic hypocritical career politician crowd will do if they get anywhere near power.

John McDonnell said today people earning over 70k should pay more tax. well someone earning 70k with a partner who doesn't / can't work, will have a household income equivalent to 2 people earning £30k each. Hardly rolling in it but apparently that's his definition of 'rich'.

A vote for labour will be a vote for recession and unemployment.

I agree OP I am totally lost. The conservatives behaved appallingly during the whole Brexit charade and are ruining the NHS and education but Labour is not a viable alternative to see us through this mess.

I have no idea who I am going to vote for either, I do know it won't be my local MP. He is a Tory and has been involved in the schools funding issue, he visited my workplace and was rude and arrogant, he is a yes man who tows the party line without question. He has been ineffectual at dealing with issues some of my family and friends his constituents have taken to him and after I wrote to him regarding an issue he failed to respond to any of my questions.

Tories called the damn referendum and caused all this mess, this country is fucked = vote labour and let all the people who voted leave understand what fucked really means.

Vote Labour by all means if you want but I don't think they will reverse Brexit? or are you saying they will be rubbish and people deserve it?
