To think current fashion is f*cking hideous?

Probably BU but I went shopping the other week as I needed a few tops. I saw:
Bright yellow playsuits
Hideous tops with the shoulders cut out
Skirts that look more like belts
Jeans with so many rips that they are indecent
Tops that aren't even decent (too short)
Cardigans with no sleeves (why, you wear a cardigan if it's cold surely)
AIBU to think that it's hideous and nobody would want to be seen dead in it?

I know!!

catscurledupbythefire · 08/04/2017 19:40

Feel your pain. All I want are some nice summer tops.

ohmywhatamisaying · 08/04/2017 19:40

It's all to draw attention from the sharpie Groucho Marx eyebrows

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 08/04/2017 19:42

Meh, just stay in your pyjamas.

I look after an older lady who wears short sleeved cardigans. They are a most peculiar garment.

flapjackfairy · 08/04/2017 19:43

I went to sainsburys and perused the clothes today and this was my v thought!
I hated nearly all the clothes. They are all bedecked with fringing and have bits cut out. I am fat flabby and 50 plus and officially the worlds coldest person so there was nothing suitable on any level .

Mari50 · 08/04/2017 19:45

YANBU. Some bloody awful stuff on the high street just now, can't work out who, if anyone, is going to buy it.

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 08/04/2017 19:45

Some of the stuff looks like the kind of crimplene monstrosity my nan would have turned her nose up at. I find myself thinking that even a lot of the models in pics on shop websites look like shite in it so what chance do the rest of us have?

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 08/04/2017 19:46

Yup I cannot find a thing I would want to wear. No idea what the fuck is going on.

QueenLaBeefah · 08/04/2017 19:46

YANBU

This season seems to be especially bad. Cheap material (either polyester and the thinnest cotton on the planet) gaudy patterns, unwearable colours, fringing, odd dimensions. All total tat.

321Emanresu · 08/04/2017 19:46

I did find a really nice top, nice colour and everything, until I saw that it had a frill over the bust! I was most annoyed.

I haven't actually seen anyone wearing these things so I do wonder who buys them...

How old are you?
May be you are looking in the wrong shops

QueenLaBeefah · 08/04/2017 19:47

All destined for landfill after the sales.

IrenetheQuaint · 08/04/2017 19:48

Yes it's infuriating! I'm desperate for some new clothes but can't find a thing.

321Emanresu · 08/04/2017 19:49

I'm in my twenties dearmeee. Have been looking in nearly all the high street stores and cannot find a thing!

Most if it looks exactly like the stuff we bought from charity shops to wear at 'Bad Taste Nights' 20 years ago! Polyester and crimpelene pleated, 70s patterned monstrosities. No thanks!

PlayingGrownUp · 08/04/2017 19:50

I love cardigans with three quarters sleeves. If they have full sleeves I end up pushing up the sleeves.

bigbluebus · 08/04/2017 19:50

YANBU. I have browsed in a few clothes shops recently and failed to find anything I want to buy/wear.

I was at an event with DS (20) today and was sitting near a chap wearing jeans with huge rips across the knees. I said to DS that when I was his age, wearing jeans like that meant you were poor - now it probably means you have spent a fortune on designer gear. He agrees with me that it is a pointless fashion and there's not much he agrees with me on

TroysMammy · 08/04/2017 19:50

I don't want to buy ripped trousers. I can rip them myself by forgetting I'm in my very late 40's when taking a shortcut over a barbed wire fence.

SealSong · 08/04/2017 19:51

Same. I am desperate for a lightweight spring jacket but can't find anything I like at all.

user1471545174 · 08/04/2017 19:51

Over-ornamented, over-frilly, over-flowery ...

And it must be the 10th year now for those sticking-plaster pink, polyester "lace" monstrosity dresses. And the sunray pleated skirt. Who is wearing this stuff?

Lilmisskittykat · 08/04/2017 19:52

90's fashion was bad in the 90s ... doesn't need to come back really... chenille jumpers, t shirts under straggetti strap dresses, cropped everything... no just no

leccybill · 08/04/2017 19:52

Dreadful isn't it. I think fashion companies deliberately brought in cropped tops, cold shoulder tops, cropped/shredded jeans to save on fabric.

sweetkitty · 08/04/2017 19:53

Holes in things annoy me and would just make me cold.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 08/04/2017 19:53

I'm so glad it's not just me! Stupid ties on sleeves, as well as the frills. The ties will come undone in about five seconds. I agree about the rips too- more rip then fabric and rips in jumpers.

Holly Willoughby had a vile mustard coloured cold shoulder top with long sleeves and ties st the cuffs on the other day. Hideous.

It's really hard to find anything this year.
