Son is talking about a previous life?!

I don't really think that as I don't think I believe in any of that, but my son who is 3 keeps saying he wants to go home and his dad really misses him, he wants to go back to his blue house. He says he wants to go home about 10 times a day and randomly says my dad misses me. DH to him is daddy, and I have asked him when DH is on face time (he works away during the week) is this your dad, and he says no mummy, that's daddy, that's not dad! So he doesn't mean DH. Has anyone ever experienced this?!

I've no experience of this as my son is only 19 months old, but how strange as I was watching a programme before funnily enough and was going to start a thread.

Was called " ghost inside my child " and was about 2 children who talked about their past lived an when the parents looked into what they were saying,it all added up

Was very curious to see if anybody had experienced this with their child, I mean one little girl was 2 years old and screamed everytime she saw a plane flying over saying it was on fire and was going to come crashing down, her parents found in her drawing book she'd scribbled 866 they worked out it was the August 1966 an when they Googled found articles on a plane crash that caught fire and crashed.
The girl had also kept referring herself as to someone else and was talking about how she was sat next to her sister an detailed what had happened
2 sisters a few years apart had died in the crash...they've been writing everything down or getting her too so when she's abit older they might be able to piece more together

Was very interesting for a child that young but then I have no idea what I believe ha

That is very creepy, I am getting a little unnerved by it! Hopefully it isn't anything like that, although that would obviously be really interesting. Like you I don't know what I do and don't believe! Strange though , what channel was that on?

There was another programme about a child who described in great detail about his past life down to the surname father name the fact he lived on a little island that the planes had to land on the beach down to the detail his house

It's weird how frequently he talks about going home. Although at that age kids are often trying to understand the concepts that affect their life - home, family, friends. They can also be grappling with anxiety about losing their home, family etc. Just keep saying to him "no sweetie, this is your home. You live here with me and daddy" then just move on to another subject.

I have just found 'ghost inside my child' but think it sounds way to creepy for me! If DH was around more I would but I don't like sleeping in the house alone with the kids (one of whom may have a ghost inside him!) 4 nights a week so don't think I should watch it!

I would write down what he says exactly as he says it. They forget as they get older.

I keep saying this is your home, and then he looks confused and says 'oh' then we just move on. Like I said his 'daddy' works away during the week but this has been since December and this has only started the past week so I don't know if it is anything to do with that, I hope not

I did this when I was little, apparently. Once an air raid siren came on the telly and I had a mini-meltdown, shouting 'we've got to get out of dusty old liverpool'.

I don't believe in woo stuff but it is still a bit creepy.

Is your dh his biological dad?

My dsis used to talk about her previous life. I think she stopped talking about it age 5 but was v clear before them. My dm didnt like it so used to change the subject. Not sure if my sister remembers but i remember and always been looking out for where she described. She used to draw pictures too.

Yes DH is his dad, we have had a little joke about DS insisting to other people that DH isn't his dad! Ok well I will listen out for other details. At the moment it's just the wanting to go home, blue house, and my dad misses me but if anything else comes up I will note it and see if it adds up to anything

There was a 'creepy things' thread a while ago and lots of people said their children had spoken of other families and other lives, interestingly all around 3 years old. My DS did, no rational explanation ever found for his story either (he talked of how he died).

Either it's just a thing that children of that age do, or there is something as yet not understood going on. Fascinating either way!

My middle child did this around the same age. He talked about how he wanted pigs trotters from the butchers because he liked them and had them when he was big. He talked about missing his grandfather (and described a gentleman in Victorian dress) and how his GF looked after him because he didn't have any mummy or daddy.

He also talked about his GF and grandmother (different ones) and how they all went on a boat and he fell out and sank but he wasn't frightened even though he knew he was dying.

He cant remember anything about it now (hes 19!) but it was a very interesting time and I would love him to be regressed (if he wants to of course!) to see if any of these 'previous lives' came up.

This is bizarre and reminds me of a Nicole Kidman film I watched years ago called Birth, where one day a 10-year old boy shows up claiming to be her dead husband reincarnated. Was quite controversial at the time due to a scene where they both share a bath.

Sorry I can't offer any useful advise on this OP, but do hope it doesn't become a disruption.

Offer to draw the blue house with him. Don't dismiss his feelings if he is certain of these things as he won't feel he can trust you if you aren't showing you believe him.

Have a look at a guy called Dr Jim Tucker. He went out and interviewed children who said these things to trying to disprove the theory of reincarnation. He ended up with so many stories where children could describe events in such detail that he ended up utterly convinced it was true. He wrote a book about his research I believe. Very interesting. I find it fascinating as I used to have a recurring day/night dream that i was trapped under rubble and could smell and taste it very clearly and had the sensation of electricity in my teeth, like when you bite on tin foil with a filling. It went away around age 4-5 but it was more vivid than a normal dream and I still cannot describe what it was.

There was a television programme about this sort of thing some years ago. A little girl, of about three, was terrified to go 'near the railway line'. But there was no railway line at the place she was talking about. The parents investigated and there had been a railway line there years before and a child of about 3 had been killed.

The one with aircraft landing on the beach could be checkable. Only one place has scheduled landings on a beach - the island of Barra

When I was 3 I remember trying to explain to my much older brother about when I was his age and how work was much harder then. I was 3 and I remember my other family ( Mother, Father and a younger sister) and thinking they would come for me. I remember my mother bandaging my hands. I'm not woo but I do believe in reincarnation.

My son aged about 3 or 4 at the time, once said to me on a visit to a new place, "oh I was here before, I said no pet this is our first time here, he said not with you Mammy, with my old Mammy and Daddy, before I died and was born to you"

Yes I was taken aback, but I just went oh thats nice love and the conversation moved on very matter of factly, how interesting other people have had the same experiences with their children. It really makes you wonder, doesn't it.

I have known it. A niece of only 3 used to talk very matter of factly about e.g. the house burning down and a 'very angry!' daddy, nothing like her exceedingly chilled one. When this was pointed out she said equally matter of factly, 'No, not THAT daddy, I mean my OTHER daddy, before.'

My SiL said all this stopped by the time she was about 5.

A friend's little boy when still very small used to come out with the most strange (true) things, that his parents thought he could not possibly have known at that age. When asked how he knew, he'd just say, again very matter of factly, 'Oh, I learnt that when I was here before.' But again, it all stopped by 5 or 6.

All a bit disconcerting to someone like me, who thinks that once you're gone, that's it.

It might be because he misses his dad (as in his actual dad) when he's working away.

I remember that thread, too.

Apparently this is a really common thing for children to do. Whatever the reasons, it will likely stop on its own (as it did for all the children mentioned on that thread) so nothing to worry about.

I read a book recently called The Forgetting Time. It's fiction but similar to your situation, could help you make sense of it. I have no idea if I believe in this sort of thing but accounts seem to show that this happens when a past life ended abruptly. They always forget as they get older.

Yes it does. The only probing so to speak was this morning when he said he wanted to go home to the blue house, I said "who do you live with at the blue house" and he said "my dad". I said who else and he said "Emily (fake name but my daughter and his sister who is 4) and Emily's mummy". I said but I'm Emily's mummy. He just said "oh, silly me". I won't dismiss anything I'll just act nonchalant I think!
