Are my portion sizes adequate

So recently I switched from my large white dinner plates to my sons plastic ikea ones (can't remember the name but they're their most popular kids plates and are used in their cafes too).

A few people have suggested my portion sizes are not big enough so I was just looking for opinions on here.

Apart from these pics I've had:

1 four finger kit Kat, American cup size of strawberries, 1 banana, 2 'my first yogurts' from Rachel's organic, 1 fish finger (leftover by my son).

I've also had a skinny latte no sugar, 3 cups of coffee with 1 sugar each and a diet lemonade.

Does that seem enough calories? I know you're not experts but just after opinions really.

The food is 2 slices wholemeal bread with Nutella (on a normal plate) and banana, cous cous with turkey breast meatloaf, a wholemeal thin and veg, baked potato with beef burger and veg.

I think that's loads of food. I have big plats but my food hardly covers any of it. They plats are really liked quite high. I think we underestimate how big our portion sizes are.

If you are trying to lose weight then never eat leftovers. 1 fish finger can turn into so much more. It is a poor habit to get into.

From the look of the plates you are piling the food high.
Is that 3 burgers?

Yes plenty of calories.

That's 3 meals and a couple of snacks.

That's a huge amount of sugar. Log into MFP and you'll see just how much it is. Even your "skinny" latte is full of it.

Looks like a lot of food to me. We eat off normal adult sized plates but quantity of food wise I think I eat a fair bit less than you.

Use electronic scales and an app such as myfitnesspal. Weigh and record everything you eat and drink for a week, and use the app to estimate how many calories you need daily. Then you can see if you are getting it right. It's really hard to guess these things.
Alternatively, weigh yourself weekly. Weight going up - portion size too big. Weight going down - portion size too small

I'd scrape half off, those portions are big imo.

I'd also ditch the Nutella, palm oil isn't good if you're trying to lose weight.

agree with everyone else, massive portions. ditch the snacks if you are trying to lose weight.

You've got small(ish) plates but you're piling food on top of each other. There's probably still enough to cover a normal dinner plate if you put it on normally.

I also agree there is a lot of sugar in the food you've posted.

Well I'm a size 10 and a healthy weight so I definitely don't want to cut calories.

I would want to maintain my weight. Not lose or put on.

I seem to be losing slightly though. The plates are small.

You mention switching to Ikea kids plates. Am I missing why this is relevant? Seriously - I'm assuming you've mentioned for a reason, but I'm not getting it!

I think that's the problem. It gives the illusion of food being 'piled high' but they're small shallow plates so I think I've been misjudging my portions. Put that on a normal plate and it probably wouldn't fill half. I hadn't noticed.

I would say I walk approximately 2 miles a day and then do about an hour of housework a day.
