Are my portion sizes adequate

So recently I switched from my large white dinner plates to my sons plastic ikea ones (can't remember the name but they're their most popular kids plates and are used in their cafes too).

A few people have suggested my portion sizes are not big enough so I was just looking for opinions on here.

Apart from these pics I've had:

1 four finger kit Kat, American cup size of strawberries, 1 banana, 2 'my first yogurts' from Rachel's organic, 1 fish finger (leftover by my son).

I've also had a skinny latte no sugar, 3 cups of coffee with 1 sugar each and a diet lemonade.

Does that seem enough calories? I know you're not experts but just after opinions really.

The food is 2 slices wholemeal bread with Nutella (on a normal plate) and banana, cous cous with turkey breast meatloaf, a wholemeal thin and veg, baked potato with beef burger and veg.

Have people started commenting because you've started eating from children's plates OP?

AteRiri · 14/03/2017 20:44

I think your food is ok. And if you're size 10, then I wouldn't worry about it. Clearly you are eating enough/burning off enough.

user1489509816 · 14/03/2017 20:45

It's only a kit Kat and fruit. I'm not tucking into a cheesecake and a family sized bag of doritos 😂

If you're worried you're losing weight - eat more and weigh yourself Confused

nancy75 · 14/03/2017 20:46

Bit Hmm about the snack comments, a small portion of strawberries & a banana are hardly glutinous even with a kit Kat!

user1489509816 · 14/03/2017 20:46

I'm not sure if it's he plates. They've just said it's not enough and would feed their children that amount of food. Which embarrassed me and made me anxious.

Your portions are fine!

user1489509816 · 14/03/2017 20:47

I thought that too nancy

It's healthy actually and I don't have much sugar. Only the kit Kat and three teaspoons in my coffee of refined sugar. Some Nutella some days. It's not much.

A kitkat, fruit, 2 yoghurts and a fishfinger!
I'm genuinely surprised you're losing weight on that amount of food and jealous of your metabolism. I'm a size 10 and eat around 1600 cals a day to maintain my weight.

gamerchick · 14/03/2017 20:47

If you fill up one of those plates the way you are and scrape it off onto abnormal plate so it isn't piled up you will see how big the portion is.

gamerchick · 14/03/2017 20:47

*a normal

dailystuck71 · 14/03/2017 20:47

Your, portions are fine. It just looks a lot because of the plate size.

user1489509816 · 14/03/2017 20:48

If I ate 1600 calories a day I'd probably be ill. But I'm tall at 5ft7. Don't know if that make SA difference.

I think a 4 finger kitkat, sugar in coffee plus Nutella is a lot of sugar! Am I the only one?
My daily diet is along the lines of poached egg and avocado on toast for breakfast, soup and wholemeal toast for lunch, salmon with rice and veg for dinner and a banana mid afternoon. It would be a lot of sugar for me!

AYankinSpanx · 14/03/2017 20:49

So are you reassured that your food seems fine, your weight seems fine and you're happy with your weight - don't need to lose or gain.

Eat from what you like, but the comments are probably because you've decided to start eating from plastic children's plates.

MrsGsnow18 · 14/03/2017 20:50

I think it seems like enough food TBH even taking small plate size so into consideration. The fact that you have toast and a banana for breakfast seems like a decent amount. Also you are getting a lunch, dinner and snacks (healthy ones and a treat)
If you think you have lost weight and not reduced your calorie intake or increased exercise it may be worth checking out with your GP though as weight loss can have an underlying cause.
If you think you eat less now because of the plates then just switch back. Get yourself some dishwasher safe plates for yourself though if you use dishwasher!

LostMyDotBrain · 14/03/2017 20:50

You're not actually here for opinions, are you? Hmm

Either way, my comment about the sugar...

Nutella as part of a meal, a kitkat, 2 kiddy yoghurts, 3 coffees with sugar. And that's before looking at the sugars in the fruit you eat and whatever sugar is in the latte. And your more complex carbs are on top of that.

It is a sugary diet.

ArriettyClock1 · 14/03/2017 20:50

I am 5'7.5 and I would definitely gain weight if I ate that every day - so you are lucky!

INeedNewShoes · 14/03/2017 20:51

I think the portions are ok.

I think that if today was a typical day, then you most likely have too much sugar in your diet:

Kitkat (mostly sugar)
3 teaspoons of sugar in your coffees
Nutella (must be mostly sugar)

The yoghurts and the pitta bread may also have a little sugar in them.

This is coming from someone who has eat two donuts and a piece of cheesecake today though, so I wouldn't listen to me on sugar intake!

Its just that the teaspoon of sugar in a hot drink can seem harmless, but if you do that 3x per day it soon adds up.

BitOutOfPractice · 14/03/2017 20:53

I'd say the nutella on toast is 500 calories alone. 210 for the kit kat. Banana and strawberries about 150. 200 for the yoghurts. 150 for the coffees. 60 for the fish finger. So that's more than 1200 calories on snacks. Let alone your two meals.

You are eating a plenty of calories!

GwenStaceyRocks · 14/03/2017 20:54

I think you're eating a lot because of the snacks. I have the same Ikea kids' plates so know exactly what size they are.
The people who are commenting because you're using kids' plates probably eat too much or they don't understand how much you can actually fit on one of those plates if you fill it to the edges and pile it up.

SuperBeagle · 14/03/2017 20:54

You'd know if you weren't eating enough. You'd feel it physically.

I think you're eating plenty. Probably still more than you need, to be honest.

MrsPMT · 14/03/2017 20:55

But! If you are someone who could do with gaining weight then all the comments about sugar are not relevant. Are you underweight?

bunnylove99 · 14/03/2017 20:55

You are a grown woman (?). You are slim for your height, exercise and look to be eating a fairly healthy diet. Why do you all of a sudden fret over how much you are eating and change to kids crockery? Your meals look rather unappealing crammed onto kids plastic plates. Why not put them on some nice white China, enjoy your food and chill out about it. Life's too short to worry about such nonsense!

BitOutOfPractice · 14/03/2017 20:56

As a comparson, my sugar intake today has been in a mini hot cross bun. 85 calories. That's it for processed sugar. (I know there's sugar in fruit etc but I'm talking processed sugar)

I would considera day with nutells, kit kat, sugary tea, and sugary yoghurts to be a very sugar heavy day
