I've read that
Blue tin Nivea is a cheaper version of creme de la mer so I've bought 3 tins!

Please can Anyone recommend anything that is as good as the branded version but cheaper?

Lidl's own brand crisps are the best anywhere

LoupGarou · 02/03/2017 22:23

You're welcome Smile

MusicToMyEars800 · 02/03/2017 22:24

morrisons own brand 20 pck of variety crisps beat walkers for me. maybellines baby skin is a dupe for benefit porefessional.
goldigga (think that's the name of it) smells just like lady million by paco rabanne, you can buy it in savers.

LowDudgeon · 02/03/2017 22:24

StumblyMonkey

"A bit boring but Sainsbury's pet insurance is actually PetPlan insurance...same policy, same team...half the price"

same T&C & everything?

Blatherskite · 02/03/2017 22:24

Aldi 'Baileys' is nicer than real Baileys. At least the Christmas special edition one is.

M&S "Cheese Tasters" are way nicer than Wotsits. Going to have to try the Aldi ones now too.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 02/03/2017 22:26

Another notpack fan.

Chimchar · 02/03/2017 22:26

blatantly place marking!

Have just watched 'shop well for less'. They had some great success with their beauty swaps particularly...the Wilko face primer for £3. The lady loved it, and it has great reviews!

Blatherskite · 02/03/2017 22:27

Which blue tin Nivea? The Creme?

hollieberrie · 02/03/2017 22:29

I just watched that too Chimchar. The couple were getting slated on Twitter but i thought they were nice - some good tips & lots of cheaper brand suggestions.

AnUnhappyStudent · 02/03/2017 22:30

I love the Wilko matt lipstick

BillyButtfuck · 02/03/2017 22:30

I've switched from head and shoulders shampoo to Sainsbury's own anti dandruff and it's very similar. I wouldn't tell any difference on a blind wash test.
Even the bottle is really similar.

Fishface77 · 02/03/2017 22:32

Fab tips!
Need a mooch round Aldi and Lidl I think!
Yes blather, the round blue tin.

Sainsburys cod fillet fish fingers - they're not even the same as Birds Eye. They're much, much nicer - better pieces of fish and thinner, lighter, tastier crumb. And definitely much cheaper!

As for pollock fish fingers, the Sainsbury's basics ones are something like 65p for 10 and my go to for a fish finger sandwich!

sparechange · 02/03/2017 22:34

Some of these are great but come on! Nivea vs Creme de la Mer?! Grin
However, Boots No7 serum is better than Lancôme Genifique serum

And while H&M might share a factory with Boss, the patterns, fabrics, finishes and embellishments will be completely different, and therefore you can't compare one with the other

It's a bit like saying that because Rolls Royce makes cars and plane engines, they are the same

MusicToMyEars800 · 02/03/2017 22:34

if any of you live near a KIKO make up shop they do great make up. quality is just as good a MAC etc but a fraction of the price.

Lulukat · 02/03/2017 22:35

bourjois healthy mix foundation from boots, co-op fresh loaf is better than any sliced and lasts longer, sainsburys loo roll and Bee Good moisturiser should be sold in more places its very good I think better than nivea

MusicToMyEars800 · 02/03/2017 22:39

Pick I agree own brand fish fingers are better than birds eye and they have a higher % of fish in them. I have to say Boots No7 stay perfect foundation has to be one of the best I've used it matches chanel YSL etc, it does need powdering if you have oily skin though. their colour match is brilliant.

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 02/03/2017 22:40

Your point Ivy or was it just a typical snarky comment that is the norm for Mumsnet nowadays?

It was a 'lighthearted' comment. Mumsnet 'nowadays' has had a serious sense of humour bypass.

mycatisginger · 02/03/2017 22:43

Sainsbury's own brand fabric softener is nice.
Sainsbury's cat litter is just as good as catsan (I was surprised at that one)
Tesco own scented toilet roll is better then the branded stuff.

Archimandrite · 02/03/2017 22:43

Musictomyears there's a Kiko near me. Are there any particular things of theirs you'd particularly recommend. They look to have so much stuff I'd not know where to start. I'd like a good under-eye concealer and some 'baking' powder, so maybe I'll give theirs a go.

BestZebbie · 02/03/2017 22:44

A couple of days ago someone on here was saying about getting basic paint made up to colour-match F&B.

IvorHughJarrs · 02/03/2017 22:44

Boots used to make a serum called Time Delay which was identical (except for the preservative) to Protect and Perfect but about a third of the price. Not sure if they are still the same though

LoupGarou · 02/03/2017 22:45

@sparechange if you google "nivea vs creme de la mer" there are loads of articles and blog trials. Also a trial from those esteemed paragons of journalism the Daily Mail.

HelsinkiLights · 02/03/2017 22:46

Music I love Benefit Porefessional but my purse doesn't, so I will definitely give the Maybelline Baby Skin a go.
Agree to Aldi's under eye concealer in the silver pen, better than Touche Eclat.
Also 2 in 1 dishwasher tablets are brilliant better than any other shops own brand.
Tesco Ambience Fabric Conditioner is better than any other brand. The Black Pearl one smells lush.

Itsnotwhatitseems · 02/03/2017 22:51

another vote for blue nivea, my colleague is in her 50's but looks 30 and that's all she uses
