I've read that
Blue tin Nivea is a cheaper version of creme de la mer so I've bought 3 tins!

Please can Anyone recommend anything that is as good as the branded version but cheaper?

You've lost me there, how can one butter have more butter in it than another butter? It's all butter?

I assume pp was talking about spreadable butter which is a mixture of butter and usually vegetable oil.

Spreadable butter contains butter and other stuff like vegetable oil. Other people just keep their butter that is butter and nothing else on the side in a butter dish meaning that it's speeadable and not quite butter butter isn't needed.

my personal favourite - boots natural collection blush in pink cloud is an almost perfect dupe for benefit dandelion. if you have 'english rose' colouring it's a fantastic, pretty and natural shade and unlike benefit, it's £1.99 Wink

Another Norpack fan here! And also Aldi's own quavers are the best and their baby wipes and nappies literally shit all over other brands. I haven't used the nappies for a few years but we're always great and my friends still swear by them

MusicToMyEars800 · 02/03/2017 23:39

rimmel blushers are good, ive got 2 one one in live pink and one in soft pink

TheOnlyLivingBoyinNewCork · 02/03/2017 23:44

Thank you. I didn't know lurpak could be anything other than just butter, so I was confused.

There are some great tips here. Going to try some of the make up and face cream ones.

PerspicaciaTick · 02/03/2017 23:52

Supermarket own brand painkillers - identical to the branded paracetamol or ibuprofen but for pennies.

Mingewithafringe · 02/03/2017 23:52

Wilkos antibacterial wipes are about 50p and they remove some tough grease and stains in my kitchen . Very moist so you get loads of use from one wipe

ferriswheel · 02/03/2017 23:54

Water out of the tap. Just as fine as that from a bottle. Almost, always.

MusicToMyEars800 · 02/03/2017 23:55

Mingewithafringe firstly you username made me chuckle Grin secondly I too love the wilko anti bac wipes they work well and smell good I always buy them

Mine don't???

Buy your cotton buds in the baby section, they're the same but cheaper than in the beauty Isle - supermarkets, boots etc

largepinotplease · 03/03/2017 00:00

I genuinely prefer Tescos own chocolate digestives to McVities and they are a lot cheaper. The same with own brand lemon/green tea as opposed to Twinings.

Also Tesco own brand limescale remover is really good and again a lot cheaper than Mr Muscle or a similar brand.

Not really a "hack" but the toiletries in the pound shop are great, (All the leading brands like L'Oréal etc) I was paying a fiver a go for shampoo/conditioner in Boots for years until I popped into Poundland one day to buy a packet of lighters and seen that not only did they sell branded toiletries but they had the exact brand I use.

I don't care if there's a stigma attached to shopping in the pound shops, I'm saving money and that works for me. Their cleaning products are great too (mostly leading brands).

PoohBearsHole · 03/03/2017 00:18

All the things food related are made by the same companies that make the branded stuff.

i know this i worked for a company that made own brand products for super markets, and they weren't using different recipes :)

StVincent · 03/03/2017 00:19

Men's disposable razors are much better quality than any kind of razors marketed for women. Makes me cross! Those Gillette Blue ones with a greeny strip and fab and often on buy 1 get one half price.

Boots tights three packs are also the best quality I've found and again often on that deal, or buy 2 get 1 free.

Not quite the same but buying popping corn and doing it in a pan is a million billion times cheaper than getting those microwave packets, and no more difficult to make.

Want2bSupermum · 03/03/2017 00:22

For the kitchen, the rectangular sponge is cut down into 1.5" strips to make 4 small ones. I get one to last about a month as I wet it through and microwave it on high to sterilize it.

I use vinegar with a large drop of softener in it instead of using 100% downy. It is so so much cheaper. I used to just use vinegar with a drop of lavender oil in it. DH doesn't like smelling of lavender!

My kids love their cereal. To make it last longer I put a measuring spoon in each box. You pour into the measuring cup and the cup into your bowl. Cereal lasts a whole lot longer these days. My kids are 5 and under so they love pouring the cereal out of the measuring cup into their bowl.

Biffsboys · 03/03/2017 00:25

Oh no - Aldi Norpack is vile !!
However their face cream is fab .

noeffingidea · 03/03/2017 00:27

Aldis own brand toiletries are great. Can recommend their raspberry shampoo and conditioner for dry hair and their hand and nail cream. All well under a pound.
I also like superdrug vitamin E body cream, the last one I bought was £1.99 (but might have gone up since then).

My dentist recommended Tesco value mouthwash over Lusterine

Destinysdaughter · 03/03/2017 00:40

I got a lovely copper eyeshadow in Poundshop, really well pigmented and only £1!

NewBallsPlease00 · 03/03/2017 00:42

You can use same factory but it's the fabric, number of workers and level of hand finish which makes the suit or automate lines vs hand worked

MrsA2015 · 03/03/2017 00:45

Lidl twixt

Tescos own cocoa powder

Way better !
