This should be interesting, because the people that I care for who have a learning disability would absolutely be unable to do any work of any kind whatsoever

Do they want everybody on Jobseeker's Allowance then? How are disabled and poorly people going to be able to pay for the care they need?

My dc is soo disabled that they will never ever work, they need help with everything. They cant walk talk
So if they dont get it then the system is beyond broken.
I dont click links or read the stuff as it scares me too much.
But i knew the moment the election results came in that people like them would suffer.
You only have to look at the shortfall in adult social care.

Heres a thought...............If ppl apply for PIP and fail the medical appeal etc and are officially told they dont have any care needs then surely any family carer who says they cant or wont do any more caring cant be prosecuted for neglect by the system when the same system has said the disabled person DOESNT have any care needs.

Not that im saying any carer would do this but as ive demonstrated in this post this could have the potential to get very interesting.

It's like watching a slow motion multiple car crash. I simply can't comprehend how they think someone with dementia, learning disabilities etc. can care for themselves and get a job.

Am I understanding correctly that those who are physically capable of achieving the things set out for the mobility points system but cannot do so for non-physical reasons (for want of a better word) such as epilepsy, mental health or learning difficulty they would be denied the motibility componement?

It was my DH who found the article online this afternoon. He is 67 next month and has been "invited" to apply for PIP as they are stopping DLA.

It has completely put him off even sending the form back. He has arthritis ischemic heart disease and COPD.

The thing is, watch and see how many people post on this thread.
Then compare it to how many people post on a thread on high earners loosing cb.
Or cuts to childrens services
Or anything
This will be the one with the least supportive posts

Not that this makes it any better but pip and dla are not means tested so not a replacement for job seekers.

But they do keep a lot of people with disabilities in jobs.

helpimitcy there is a plan for councils to administer AA.

Sorry I really didn't mean that to be insuppportive, reassuring rather that it wasn't booting people off means tested benefits.

But the thin edge of the wedge came with removing child benefit from those on s certain salary - so it was them and us.

HelenaDove Your logic is reasonable but this scenario already exists with ESA. An employer can terminate a disabled employee's contract if they can no longer perform their duties and work due to their disability. The very same person who has been deemed unfit to work, usually by an occupational health doctor, can then undergo an assessment for ESA and fail. They will be found fit for work and have to claim JSA, even though medical professionals have reviewed them and decided they are so sick their employment should be terminated.

It's disgusting that these two decisions can co-exist and leave vulnerable sick disabled people trapped between the cracks of a broken system.

PIP is not an out of work benefit.

I think they want a large section of the population to die off. The health service is crumbling and people are struggling to access healthcare.

Soon, the only people who will be able to make it will be higher earners and people who haven't yet become sick - although, illness can affect anyone obviously.

I'm also wondering if their policies will have the effect of forcing parents and carers to stop treatments for their family members (young and old) and will just have to let them die

Well my adult dd is in a position where they have to make a contribution from their esa
The last bill we had was on july... so that is months of money they have not collected.
Times that by all the other people they have not sent bills too..
Crazy, i am having to chase them to pay the money
