Looks like the ruling has been created retrospectively in a hurry.....a bit like they did with workfare.

People with epilepsy and dementia arent going to qualify Utterly disgusting.

It's diabolical.

Eugenics in action here. I thought I couldn't be more sickened but it just gets worse.

helpimitchy · 24/02/2017 22:49

I work with someone who may fall into this trap Meh. They're returning to work shortly, but they're not at all well due to a chronic, debilitating condition.

HelenaDove · 24/02/2017 22:50

At least thats something Seven. It would have been a huge mistake.

OP posts:
RJnomore1 · 24/02/2017 22:50

There is a certain logic to that though fruittea dependent on the circumstances. Eg if I had a heavy manual job and arthritis I may not be fit for that specific role but I could work in an office.

Whether I would get work in such a different context though...

But work is overall good for most people (within defined boundaries) so I wouldn't want written off either if it was me.

But it's all to do with firstly the way it's administered and secondly the support mechanisms that are around and both are awful.

AndNowItsSeven · 24/02/2017 22:51

Yes many elderly people would have died.

Toypotpony · 24/02/2017 22:51

This is terrifying. My daughter will be completely reliant on benefits. People I have cared for will have their money slashed by this.

It makes me furious. You still see some simple minded Tory crowing of 'good, scroungers, just a drain on society'

These aren't job shy shirkers. They can't fucking work! To be crude what exactly do you think (as an example) an lady who can't talk or walk, has severe learning disabilities, regularly wipes her shit in passers by, can do.

What exactly is she going to work in? Hospitality? Catering?

It's always met with the same 'oh it won't mean them'. YES IT FUCKING DOES!

No one cares though. It's a shame people can find it in them to march for remaining in the eu and multiple other causes (rightly so) but when it comes to disabled people dying in our own country because of almost malicious policies?

Usually silence.

HelenaDove · 24/02/2017 22:54

YY RJ. Whereas a carer who has decided they cant do it anymore cant be pressured or vilified to carry on looking after someone who has been deemed to have no care needs............oh wait.

PageStillNotFound404 · 24/02/2017 22:56

I keep thinking this government can't get any more inhumane.

I keep being disappointed.

pinkiepie1 · 24/02/2017 22:59

It's beyond ridiculous that the people with the most problems get shit on the most.
I have epilepsy and mh issues and couldn't get dla few years back because I could walk 10ft and could stand on one leg for however long.
My point is people kept telling me I was entitled to it but in all honesty the whole assessment had my mh declining. I felt like dirt on their shoe because yes I look normal but because i suffer from things you cant see doesn't mean im making it up.
I feel for people who are going having to deal with this. I am very lucky that I have a very good dh who has supported me financially/emotionally. If it wasn't for him I doubt id be here I really didn't know what I was going to do.
Hugs to everyone who this is effecting xxx

RJnomore1 · 24/02/2017 23:01

Oh Helena I know... I'm being idealistic...

TheRollingCrone · 24/02/2017 23:03

Fucking unbelievable... callous bastard.

I would love carers en mass to blockade Parliament en mass with cared for people and say "here you fucking cope for the day" ( I know carers would never do this).

I hate this poxy Government

RJnomore1 · 24/02/2017 23:04

And part of the problem with a lot of the Tory policy is that actually there is a certain logic to it the devil is on the way it is implemented. For example of the policy was people forced out of a job due to health can either claim disability benefits or claim out of work while suppprted by an advisor who was actually there to help them realise their potential it would be very different.

ClashCityRocker · 24/02/2017 23:05

Could someone help me with the changes, please? I've read the link and as I understand it they're making it even harder to get the mobility conpomement?

It's ridiculous as it is, the decline in my mums mental wellbeing from going through the process is horrendous. She asks me to open her post now because she's so anxious about being called in for yet another assessment.

RJnomore1 · 24/02/2017 23:06

Sorry to conclude my point - do the fact there's a tiny bit of logic means those who think or understand less feel it's sensible...

HelenaDove · 24/02/2017 23:09

YY Clash Its the reassessing and reasessing over and over. Now the over 65s are being "transferred over" we will soon see ppl in their 70s and 80s on the reassessment merry-go-round in the next decade.

OP posts:
WetlookWasp · 24/02/2017 23:10

Funny isn't it.

We found the money to bomb Syria immediately.

But actually pay disabled people enough to stay alive and maybe have a glimmer of a future?

No fucking chance, can't find money for that.

BestZebbie · 24/02/2017 23:16

Do I assume that people with variable conditions just can't claim PIP because on some days they don't score enough points?

MothersRuinart · 24/02/2017 23:16

It's awful. And it's disappointing how many people still keep voting for Tories.

PageStillNotFound404 · 24/02/2017 23:17

I guess it's one way for the Tories to get the pension bill down. Two birds, one sociopathic stone.

Bastards.

HelenaGWells · 24/02/2017 23:18

I hope people see enough media coverage to fight back. The whole system is utterly fucked.

HelenaDove · 24/02/2017 23:21

The Last Leg are usually good at talking about these issues.

OP posts:
Studyinghell · 24/02/2017 23:21

Two birds, one sociopathic stone.

Summed up perfectly I'm afraid. Just wish more ppl knew/cared and got the tories out

AndNowItsSeven · 24/02/2017 23:23

It's meant to be fifty percent of the time Best.

ZackyVengeance · 24/02/2017 23:24

carers can't strike. paid ones or the ones on the so generous allowance as they care
so sadly we will always be sidelined by the ones who can

HashiAsLarry · 24/02/2017 23:24

Its completely inhumane. On one hand they're saying how important MH provision is and on the other they're saying SEN and dementia aren't worth caring about.

Not ignoring the other elements but are they just ignorantly hoping people with dementia will just forget they haven't gotten money this period?
