To be fascinated by "hobbies"

What ARE these hobbies? And why so mysterious?

I have also wondered that. After a while, I came to tge only rational conclusion.

It's "dogging."

I don't understand why people don't just say shagging the "tennis" coach or jigsaws...

I'm always a bit astonished about people having hobbies. I don't have any at all and neither does DH or anyone else I know, certainly nothing that takes them out of the house for hours on end I'm not counting drinking gin with friends

Ugh. Dh has hobbies. Two nights a week doing Wing Chun, one night a week at band practice and every other night at least an hour usually two or three doing guitar or piano or martial arts.

My hobby is drinking wine and watching box sets. But for some reason that doesn't count as a hobby.

Oh plus gigs most Saturdays. I'm amazed we ever find time to have sex tbh.

My hobbies are much more relationship friendly.

I have three hobbies. Art, drama and the gym. I've never tried dogging. I'll give it a go though.

My DH is a lifeboat crew member. I class that as a hobby. It takes up lots of time for training plus obviously the call outs are unpredictable.

Mine is watching shit TV shows and playing Candy Crush. Pretty high brow.

DH's is following a (quite shit) football team.

If we were into something more obscure I might be more bothered about obfuscation, but I think a lot of people do it because saying "going to the football" can immediately rile posters who get especially judgy about football fans.

I think it's cycling a lot of the time. Is here. Although mine is rowing.

Dogging definitely a possibility - hadn't thought of that.

No-one I know has any hobbies and I have never heard the word used in real life!! (Except in 1970's language learning text books!!)

Is pinterest a hobby? If so that's mine. It takes up a lot of my time. Oh and loving tom hardy. That's a hobby. A Good one too.

I identified a MNer I know in RL through one post made about a hobby we do together (group activity). It's a common enough pastime but she mentioned something specific to our group and one identifying detail about herself and outed herself to me.

It's never occurred to me that going to the gym is classed as a hobby - yaaay I have a hobby!
