To ask about trolls

NOT a TAAT - just inspired by a certain one

Tell us about your fave MN troll

I liked the woman who had a dead husband who hand painted the childrens bedrooms, and now she was remarried she wanted all of her stepchildren to sleep in one room so that her children from her first marriage wouldn't have to give up their bedrooms even for one night!

Surely IANBU to ask what your favorite troll on MN has been?!

OP posts:

'Lovely friend'

Beelands · 16/02/2017 15:49

The most chilling one is the troll who posts about arguments she has with her fiancee and whether she should leave him.... he always goes to his "mancave" (shed) at some point and then they watch a film, or don't watch a film (the argument generally centres around the watching of this film). They are all pretty much identical.

What's weird is that they are so humdrum /boring. I can sort of see why someone might troll about poo/shoes/dead babies but I cannot imagine what would drive someone to sit down every few weeks and bash out a post about having a row about a film. It really chills me! I imagine them in a squalid flat living a weird disconnected existence.

There's also a "my kid won't potty train" one which is definitely sexual. Yuk.

MadHattersWineParty · 16/02/2017 15:50

Yes that one but she always says 'movie' and one of them always plays on the computer.

It's weird how even through name change you can recognise a certain writing style or turn of phrase.

RatHammock · 16/02/2017 15:52

TheDevilWearsPrimark was indeed a troll. And Mamazon. And LolaTheShowgirl. In fact the only genuine poster on the whole of MN is expat! Wink

Only1scoop · 16/02/2017 15:53

Worst was Leukemia one with pics of DC.
That Troll must be severely ill.

RatHammock · 16/02/2017 15:55

I hate the ones about sick children. They must be very disturbed.

Emmageddon · 16/02/2017 15:56

Coping Very Quietly was the one who had a support network of MNers, and actually met up with some of them in real life, wasn't she? How did they find out she wasn't who she claimed to be?

Someone suggested that copingveryquietly should consider a name change to fallingapartdramatically which did make me Grin.

Only1scoop · 16/02/2017 15:57

The school shoe thing was incredibly odd.

The one about the nanny cooking pasta for the children - was it something to do with the fact that it wasn't fresh pasta? It was fabulous

There was one who scammed loads of MN members. Rose something? She claimed to have no money to feed her DC - people started donating via PayPal - it was mad.

Brankolium · 16/02/2017 15:59

One where the OP's boyfriend was in a serious motorcycle accident. The SIL and MIL were really obstructive when it came to letting her go to the hospital to visit ( I think she was stuck at home with his disabled child or something?).

She eventually got to the hospital the next day, after 24 hours of leaving MN hanging on and leaving messages of support, only for his wife to be visiting at the same time.

As soon as as few posters started muttering about it sounding a bit fishy the troll came clean with a lots of grinning emoticons, jeering, and laughing at everyone for being suckered in Grin

I like the shoe troll. There's been a few baby name ones recently too, not sure if it's the same person or not.

I do think there are some genuinely lonely people out there who have nothing better to do and invent online personas.

Only1scoop · 16/02/2017 16:01

They're are some scary folk about.

Only1scoop · 16/02/2017 16:01

I am a member of a few parenting forums and either 3 or 4 different people have gone through the exact same stuff. As in down to mortgage company/partner problems/child problems or its the same person. I was on a thread a few months ago and thought this seems familiar and I am certain that its the same person who has just moved forums, having been banned from one of the others.

I look forward to seeing if there is much difference this time round, although as far as I can tell they either haven't posted again or its not been popular to pop up

HermioneJeanGranger · 16/02/2017 16:02

Yes, the one whose DP has adult/older teenage sons who come for contact every week and never go out with their mates. It always involves an argument, the DP sulking and a movie or one of the sons playing on the computer and interfering with their couples time!

Not seen her around in a while, though.

GoesDownLikeACupOfColdSick · 16/02/2017 16:03

I knew a bloke who liked to create multiple accounts here to ask supposedly intimate questions about anal sex and so on. It was years before I joined, when I assumed it was more of a nethuns sort of place, but some of you might have seen them at the time. He thought he was being hilarious Hmm

Turned out his marriage was breaking up and he was deeply depressed - he's now had counselling and is much happier. He doesn't post here any more!

RatHammock · 16/02/2017 16:04

Stepfamilies seem a common theme. Twins and premature labour also feature a lot.

BeMorePanda · 16/02/2017 16:04

The one that read like a Danielle Steel novel about the wife being so calm and composed in the face of her husband shagging his mistress (her best friend) wearing her wedding dress! Then there was a spoof thread which was brilliant.

^ this one - loved it. I even changed my NN to a character from the troll thread for the spoof thread. such fun :)

I do wish there was a special secret cave where the troll threads could be kept for future reading - maybe accessible only after you've been here for X times so it doesn't encourage trolls.
